“First to stand, last to fall”

The Order of the Imperial Knights is an order of Force-users devoted to the defense and preservation of the Imperial Confederation. They are fully trained in the ways of the Force, but the Jedi consider them to be controversial, as they swear loyalty to the Imperial Confederation and its Empress above all else, including their devotion to the will of the Force. Which remains grey instead of light or dark.

Who are they?

The Imperial Knights are an order of Force-sensitive warriors currently serving the Imperial Confederation. Unlike the Sith or Jedi, they adhere to a philosophy of loyalty to the Empress rather than the Force itself. Their structure and ranks are as follows:

Imperial Knights Force Organization
  • The Imperial Knights function as a small, elite order rather than a vast hierarchy like the Jedi or Sith.

  • They are directly loyal to the Empress of the Imperial Confederation, whom they view as the Imperial Throne’s rightful ruler, provided they remain just and do not fall to the dark side.

  • If an Empress/Emperor falls to darkness, the Imperial Knights are sworn to remove them from power and install their direct successor.

  • The Imperial Knights operate in two sections; Companies and Academies. Companies serve as their field Knights organized alongside the Imperial military apparatus. Academies are made up of older or wounded Knights utilized to serve as teachers and mentors to Initiates and Knight-Errants.
Imperial Knights Ranks
  1. Lord-Commander*
    • The leader of the Order.

    • Only one Imperial Knight holds this position and is typically the strongest and/or most experienced Knight-Commander. Elected by the Inner Council.

    • Equivalent in rank to the Supreme Commander and serves on the Imperial Ruling Council.
  2. Knight-Commanders*
    • High ranking Knights who serve on the Inner Council.

    • They serve as senior leaders and dictate the direction of the Order. New Commanders must be approved by every sitting member.

    • Equivalent in rank to Army Sector Generals or Navy Sector Admirals.
  3. Knight-Captains*
    • A group of senior Knights promoted purely on personal skill, leadership and experience. Few in number.

    • Serve as leaders of Knight Companies or overseers of Academies.

    • Equivalent in rank to Army Generals or Navy Admirals.
  4. Knight-Lieutenants
    • Senior Knights recognized for their experience and leadership, taking a junior leadership role within Companies or Academies.

    • Serve as command staff of Companies or instructors at Academies, leads small detachments of Knights.

    • Equivalent in rank to Army Colonels or Navy Commodores.
  5. Knight-Sergeants
    • Fully trained Imperial Knight who has completed their Apprenticeship to a senior Knight.

    • Serves as the most numerous and baseline Knights of the Order.

    • Equivalent in rank to Army Majors and Navy Commanders.
  6. Knight-Errants
    • Newly graduated Initiates granted their armor who are serving an apprenticeship to a senior Knight.

    • Serves as administrative, support or field roles within the Order.

    • Equivalent in rank to Army Captains and Navy Lt. Commanders.
  7. Initiates
    • Newly recruited children, teens or adults undergoing training within an Imperial Knight Academy.

    • Not allowed outside Academy grounds without permission until training is completed and they graduate to Knight-Errants.
Philosophy and Combat Style
  • The Imperial Knights follow the "Will of the Force" but reject total detachment like the Jedi and absolute control like the Sith. They are considered grey.

  • They embrace pragmatic, disciplined combat, mixing Jedi techniques with military efficiency.

  • Their lightsabers are uniform silver and/or white, symbolizing neutrality between Jedi blue/green and Sith red. They wear red armor with black uniforms.

  • The Imperial Knight-Companies are military-like formations made up of Knights structured like a military company. Led by a single Knight-Captain and assisted by two senior Knight-Lieutenants with various detachments also led by Knight-Lieutenants.

  • The Imperial Academies are institutions like Jedi Enclaves or Sith Academies where Initiates are trained and taught by Knight-Lieutenants and led by a Knight-Captain.

  • The Twelve Swords are a group of senior Imperial Knights selected from the best of the best the Order has to offer. Primarily selected to guard the Empress and their family at all times.
Knights Creed

The core ideals of the Imperial Knights were Loyalty, Honor, Moderation and Duty. Although similar to the ideals of the Jedi at a glance, the Imperial Knights placed greater importance on serving the state, representing and maintaining these ideals in a correct manner. The Knights Creed, the code of conduct for the Order, opened with the Knight's Vow, which detailed the essentials of what being an Imperial Knight meant and was said at initiation into the Order:

“By the will of the Force and the command of the Empress, I pledge my blade, my will, and my life to the Throne. I shall wield the Force not for passion, nor peace, but for duty. Where the Empress leads, I follow. Where she commands, I act. Until death, I serve the Empire in whatever form it takes, not as a servant—but as its shield, its justice, and its sword. This I swear.”

The Knights Creed sums up the ideals of the Order of the Imperial Knights as detailed below.

  • Loyalty - A knight is to respect and obey his superiors and strive to always follow their example. The same respect and kinship shown to superiors should be extended to other knights, and any knight should treat his fellow knight's lives as of greater importance than his own and be willing to sacrifice his own life to save the lives of others.

  • Honor - A knight should always set an example to others when it comes to conduct and action. They are expected to offer friend and foe civil treatment regardless of the situation, and to be as fair as possible in all matters. A Knight should show tolerance for all creatures regardless of species, sentience, sex, sexuality, age, personal beliefs/ideals and appearance.

  • Moderation - A knight should strive to attain balance within the force, within their own self, and with their place in the galaxy at large. A knight should strive to attain strength, wisdom, skill and power to better be able to do their duty and overcome obstacles.

  • Duty - A knight should learn to put aside their personal wants, desires, hopes and fears in favor of selfless dedication to the state and its citizens. A Knight should always do their utmost to right wrongs, protect those who cannot protect themselves, punish cruelty, oppression and malicious acts, aid those in need and resolve issues in a peaceful fashion. A knight should be ready and willing to battle enemies without mercy and face torture, humiliation, loss and death without hesitation or remorse.

The Twelve Swords

The Twelve Swords are a small group of highly skilled Imperial Knights under the direct command of the Empress. The Swords consist of twelve members at any given time, ranked in order of strength. A subdivision within the Imperial Knights, these warriors are exceptionally attuned to the Force, having trained under the greatest instructors of the Order of the Imperial Knights and subjected to all kinds of training regiments deepening their connection to the Force, their skill with a lightsaber while also being experts in martial arts.

Each member of the Twelve Swords is chosen for their strong connection to the Force and superior combat ability and assigned a number from 1 to 12 that indicated their rank and relative power level, with number 1 being the strongest and number 12 the weakest. A member referred to himself/herself as "Sword" preceded by the number of their rank; "The First Sword"

Though the number of a Sword clearly displayed their rank, the actual difference in power between the holders of the ranks could vary greatly.
