I don't think after would work in LOTR's case because basically all history afterwords is Aragorn and his descendants steamrolling everybody and Sam being elected and breeding. Add to that the Orcs are virtually gone and there'd have to be a restriction on elf characters because most of them have gone to the west. I think it'd be better if it was set in the pass, maybe near the time of the Battle of Unnumbered Tears.

I second the Game of Thrones thing. I would just love if there were a board in that genre in the same layout (different style, of course) as Chaos. Oh, how I'd love it.
