Out of Curiosity

Well this was indeed unusual. As Kay was about to leave Bakura to head back to Republic space, she happened to be contacted by [member="Vincente Zann"] who requested a meeting. A quick search didn't reveal much about the organization that he said that he was a part of. All that she knew was that he claimed to oppose the Cartel, or at least he knew that she did. But then again, almost everyone did.

Kay set up a meeting room in a cafe in Koquitlamm, one of the small port cities. She had spoken to the owner and cleared the business of it's staff except for one that was an undercover agent of G.R.I.M. that was always around to be sure that she was causing no harm to the Republic. Today he portrayed a bored employee surfing the holonet on his datapad in between his serving duties.

The Senator sat at one of the tables, cradling a cup of tea in her hands while she waited to find out why this organization reached out to her.

Having received the confirmation the Consortium's Agents had been deployed to monitor the nearby area. Defilers kept and overwatch on the cafe, making sure no forces, Hutt or otherwise, would interfere with the meeting.

Into the cafe strode a tall, pale haired man. His clothing bespoke of both aristocracy, and yet rugged comfortability. It was a practiced look, one he had cultivated over many years. While his eyes containued a mix of humor and grim determination, it was leaning more toward curiosity today. His face was scarred, two claw like marks running along the most of it.

He found the senator, one [member="Lady Kay"] soon enough, she was the only other patron, besides the bored man in the corner. He nodded once to her before he crossed the room and took a seat across from her, signalling for a cup of caf from the barrista

The undercover agent pretended to nearly drop his datapad as [member="Vincente Zann"] arrived. At least his order was simple. Made things easier.

Kay bowed her head to Vincente once he sat down. "Thank you for coming. Though it is really you that had called for this meeting. I'm curious as to why you reached out to me."

She sipped her tea just as the agent reached their table and served Vincent his caf. After he just stepped back behind the counter and moments later, returned to 'surfing the holonet'.

"Well, I've heard some not so subtle rumors that you stand in opposition to the Hutts" He began with a wave of his hand to punctuate the point "As it stands, thats a goal we currently share. I believe we might be able to work out a deal of mutual benefit"

He kept a respectful eye contact with her as he spoke, folding his hands on the table "A more direct opposition from us against the Hutts, in exchange for support, financial and legal from you"

Kay raised a brow as she sipped her tea. "Financial and legal support? I don't know what those rumours you've heard have been saying, but I'm not at all a rich person. I don't earn a high salary and most of my money goes towards freeing the Hutt's slaves. As for legal support, what kind do you mean? What is it exactly that you do and what fuels your opposition to the Hutts?"

All of this was helpful, so that she'd know what rumours were being spread about her.

He shrugged somewhat "Legal backing, authority, or perhaps a blind eye turned toward our activies in opposition to the hutts. My motivation? Revenge, for myself, and the Consortium" He explained, leaning forward slightly to further his point, waving his hand again for emphasis.

He would take whatever help he could get

"Forgive my ignorance, but you'll have to explain a bit more. My own activities didn't quite follow Republic law, but it didn't harm the Republic either. What sort of activities would you be doing? I can't go into this blindly, you know."

She needed to know as much as possible. Her neck was already on the chopping block as it was and so was her career as a Senator. Who knows what would become of her after the trial.

"Well that would vary of course. But suffice to say it would certainly involve armed conflict with the hutts as well as more under the table sabotage and such"

The aristocratic male explained to his guest, or has he her guest? It was up for debate really exactly whom was here for whom, and whom hoped to get what exactly. But that was an academic discussion, and not why either of them was here at present

"Armed conflict with the Hutts? You do realise that they have the Jackals, as well as a vast number of allies for any army to contend with, don't you? There's a reason my missions have been so small and varied. It's like a special op, very hard to stop before it's too late."

She sipped her tea wondering if he had any plans at all outside of just attacking the Cartel. [member="Vincente Zann"] had mentioned sabotage and under the table stuff. But what and how were the questions that needed answering.
