Out of the Fire

Yeah yeah, here he was, trying to teach his niece a thing or two when she was clearly able to disappear into the frakking ether of the galaxy. “Yeah, sometimes you’re getting trailed by someone. A tail. Sith have been dogging Alliance tagged vessels if they leave Coalition space.” And they left.

A lot.

Well, at least Coren’s.

“The Treader does jump fairly often, but I don’t want to run the risk of a hunter finding her. Too many refugees.” Looking for a home, a place to strike on the tyranny, and a place to sell wares and have a safe place to rest. Running a hand through his hair, the pilot watched her for a second.

“And the Sith aren’t a problem. I can put some time into chasing down Sage…” He shrugged. “Porter can help Pibs, and I know I’ve got some spare parts you can splice into that rig.”

"Trust me Uncle, the last thing I'd want would be to put anyone on that ship in harm's way." There was a little bite behind her words. A hand waved casually about Sage. She still had the nightmares. But she was a pretty good actor at pretending not to care. Self serving spacer and all that. Even if she hadn't been able to quite fool @emner Farseer.

"Don't worry. He hasn't been able to find me, yet. Doubt he ever will."

Turning, she made her way back to her ship, calling over her shoulder.

She might turn down most help but not when it came to free ship parts.

"Porter and Pibs can talk. But if I find out you're trying to install some sort of overbearing uncle tracker,we'll have words."

That was something Coren was starting to realize as well. He did put a lot of people in harms way. The Tachyon Rising, his primary personal vessel was such a well known ship that he was constantly scrubbing buoys and his ship’s own IFF. He shook his head, and looked at Kinsey. Her tone wasn’t wrong. “I know you’re good on that. You’ve kept yourself safe. And with whats going on, we’re going to need more of that skill.” He was of course, referring to the eternal conflict between good and evil in the galaxy, freedom and chaos.

“I’ll do my best to keep Sith off your trail. Lead them to me.” Not that it was a problem for Coren, barring a few lost limbs, most came up good for him, when he encountered them. Maybe it was that he had been one.

Stepping behind his niece, he nodded. “Tracker? Me? What about me thinks I’d need a tracker if you just touched the Force once in a while?” A grin on his face as he shook his head. Not every Starchaser was going to be leading the charge, but so long as she kept doing what was best for some of the galaxy? That was fine in his book.

The door between their ships wooshed open, the vac-seal holding well. "You keep saying 'we' Uncle. What group are you with now?" The fellow Starchaser lost track. She knew what type of group it would be, though. Militants lightside fighters. All for what? Maybe they'd save a few. Maybe not. In the end, the Sith would never stop. No one would. It was an endless fight that would never be won on either side, though it would take plenty of casualties from those caught in the mix.

She stepped into the cleaned up cabin of her u-wing. HER ship. Pibs whistled at her.

And the whole her touching the force thing? He was right. She didn't do it much. Couldn't really turn it off when she was flying. Though, the Starchaser thing in space seemed more preternatural than a gift of the force. Perhaps it was a mixture of both.

The girl kneeled in front of Pibs.

"How do you feel about meeting someone new? Porter is Uncle Coren's droid. And I don't want you to let him." Him, it? "Out of your sensors." Pibs booped and beeped, it's red-black sensor glowing at Coren over her shoulder.

Working with the Starchaser clan was always like herding cats. Taking a Corellian family, reminding them where they came from, and then slapping them all in spaceships to go their own way? That was the big trick to get the family to agree about anything. What he did know was they had the natural slant to the light side, or at least hoped most. And with Starchaser being who he was, that made his entire family an enemy of the Sith. So that created a big cause for concern to most.

“Not using it to even navigate anymore, or are you just getting that good with your nav charts?” Coren laughed as he shook his head. Eyeing his droid, he nodded and looked towards Pibs.

“Promise I’m not tracking you. Better for you to know how to find me than me to find you, if the worst should ever happen. Its why its good Kaia is out doing her own then.” Well, most of the time. “Just here to make it so you’re goin’ to make it out of this neck of nowhere.” He smirked.

Her pebble drone rolled around her legs and beeped and bapped at Porter. Kinsey turned, slightly amused. At least they seemed amicable enough. Now Kaia brought a pang of guilt. Last time she saw her cousin, they'd been shopping for ships together. Things hadnt exactly panned out. Unlike Coren, Kinsey had no begrudgings against her.

"Ha," eyes found their way back to her Uncle as she began running some diagnostics on her ship.

"Like I said before. Pibs and I couldve handled ourselves just fine without some budgy ex-Alliance commander insistent upon boarding."

She smirked.

"I ain't complaining about the fizzy pop, though. How is Kaia doing?"

The elder Corellian shook his head. The droids were going to get along… well, unless Porter was going to bother Pibs, like he used to with Chevu’s BB unit. Shaking his head, the Jedi was taking a chance to look around the ship his niece was using. Not a bad vessel, not bad at all. For what it was. He preferred his YT-2000, or even his prototype combat shuttle, all depended on the situation. But this, well, it would do. He supposed.

“I’m sure you could have, but I’ not about to let a chance encounter with the illusive Kinsey out without giving her a helping hand. Call it a Warden to Warden deal? And its still Alliance, we’re just… scattered.” Always a soft spot for Coren “Captain Alliance” Starchaser, here.

“Kaia’s doing well. She’s been helping with the Underground, not fighting but moving people and things from place to place. Always looking for you, it seems.” He shrugged, smirking. “But out in the Coalition space, mostly.

"Ah, yeah. My neck of the woods, though I've been branching out a bit."

Out of ORC space. The girl had no boundaries. Though she and Kaia shared that bit of space, it was no surprise she hadn't run into her cousin. Space was a vast and wild thing. As Coren was looking around, he'd note her hammock strung up along the back. Ration storage cabinets. Even a pot for caf or tea. Retrofitted acceleration seats for a few passengers with salvaged parts for crash restraints and webbing. Kinsey knew how to get....creative with budget and retrofits.

"Glad Kaia is doing her thing."

Pibs warbled and booped.

Kinsey shook her head, more or less to herself. Pibs was somewhat warming to Porter it seemed.

"So....think you can spare any of those fizzy pops before we go our separate ways?"

She smirked.
