OutlawTech is in many ways, a standard corporation, as it is actively run by ruthless criminals. The key difference is that these criminals have active rap sheets and are wanted in several systems. OutlawTech is the name given to an anonymous collective of inventive slicers and rogue mechanics who specialize in creating bizarre technology for use by the criminal underworld. The organization even takes its name from the slang term 'outlaw tech' referring to engineers and programmers who specialize in illegal technology.
While original created as a ring of slicers working on security countermeasures, over the years OutlawTech has branched out into numerous other fields such as mod packages and even their own security programs. The organization works through a variety of Shadownet back channels and proxy groups to sell their wares on the galactic black market, garnering a reputation for inventive and reliable products. So long as you don't look too deeply into how they are made, or who makes them.
RATIONALE
OutlawTech began life centuries ago as a covert ring of slicers selling homemade electronic lockbreakers on the black market. As the business expanded and formalized it began to attract top talent from other illegal engineering fields, expanding their offerings and reach. This has allowed the company to maintain several underground production facilities and false fronts across the galaxy to distribute their wares under the table. As OutlawTech has expanded its reach, it has also tightened security measures, going further underground to avoid being rooted out or having their technology stolen. In a somewhat ironic twist, a group specializing in cracking security has becoming focused on hiding themselves as thoroughly as possible from prying eyes.
