Private Overdue Introductions

They give up having an everyday life so that they can instead dedicate it to helping others

Judah frowned, looking skeptical. It was all he could do not to laugh at Balun Dashiell Balun Dashiell 's words. This kid was in deep. It was to be expected given he was raised by them. Add in the fact the Jedi cult was all the boy had for fifteen years, Judah supposed it was to be expected. However, none of it sat right with him.

"Is that so? It seems every Jedi I meet owns a mega corporation and lives a high-flying lifestyle, so you really could have fooled me. They must be quite gifted to run a corporation yet dedicate their entire life to helping others. A lot of time goes into getting something off the ground....then the amount of time you must dedicate to mastering whatever skills needed."

There was no hate or malice in his voice. Just trying to point out some of the hypocrisy of the Jedi. To get Balun thinking for himself. It was frustrating he hadn't had a hand in the boy's upbringing. In his education. How his school breaks would be dictated. After raising Makai as a single father, it was infuriating someone else had complete control over choices he should have had.

Maybe then, we wouldn't be standing here like we are

"Perhaps not. We should be discussing what university you will be attending and if you'll be joining the same fraternity as your brother. Which, there is still time to do so. There's no need to answer today. In fact, we should probably pin most of these subjects for another day. Its been an emotional one and neither one of us knows one another....a level head is needed to push forward."

Judah paused.

"You will need to decide what capacity you want me in your life. This won't be decided today, naturally. I'll give you some time to think on it."

"I don't know what Jedi you've met", Balun replied bluntly. He couldn't answer for others on an individual basis. He had kept himself distanced from almost everyone in the Order during his time as he had fought within himself. His sense of belonging and identity, his purpose in life and the path that had been forced upon him.

He had been told countless times to let go of such feelings, so much so that he had learned to steel himself to the friendships of others, particularly with the adult Jedi. It was ingrained within him. It had made it difficult to open up to his Master Julius Sedaire Julius Sedaire . It could be argued that Judah Dashiell Judah Dashiell was also falling victim to Balun's unwillingness to adhere to a possible parental figure.

"I'm telling you right now, I won't be going to no University. I've gotten an education," Balun declared further. He was in no mind to consider a different life path, especially from Judah, after colourfully expressing his view of the Jedi. "I'm not my brother. I'm an Aquilian Ranger with the Tingel Arm Coalition and a Jedi, whether you like it or not," he explained impatiently. The way he was feeling, Balun needed to break away to vent and allow himself the space to calm down and think things through.

Judah Dashiell was correct about one thing, time was needed.

"I'm needed on Lothal when the fighting kicks off", Balun concluded, deciding it was time to leave. The Coalition was expecting to ready its Fleet for the battle against the Empire of the Lost, a war only a few days away. There was still much to be done on Balun's end, and he had more to worry about than his newly discovered, Jedi-hating Father.

He started to walk across the suite towards the door. However, he reluctantly paused and turned to glance back towards Judah: "I'll leave my details with your assistant. Comm-Frequency and Holonet Account. If you decide you can stomach being around a Jedi, maybe we'll talk".

Judah sighed. He had forgotten how dramatic teenagers were, although Makai was more the depressed, mopey, sprawled on his couch type. Balun Dashiell Balun Dashiell seemed a bit more hot headed, which given the Jedi teachings the boy kept referencing, was a bit surprising. Although perhaps it wasn't the teenagers fault entirely, Judah was hardheaded himself.

"As I mentioned, we can put a pin in this and meet again in the future. Give us both time for the shock to wear off. For cooler heads to prevail and we can pick up our discussion."

He stood to escort the boy out, it was only good manners despite the very terse situation.

"Best of luck during the battle. Keep your head on straight out there, will you? Don't let this be a distraction."
