Pains of the Past

Everything was happening so fast Arlan couldn't really grasp the situation as a whole, the only thing he did know for a fact was that he wished more than anything to continue this journey with Serra. Listening to Serra's words Arlan knew they wouldn't be on Onderon long, which wasn't a problem for Arlan. The excitement he felt for what was to come had been building since they left Felucia and after leaving Onderon they would be on the last leg of their current quest. Arlan wondered though, just how the others would receive him once he arrived Ossus. Serra had been kind enough to invite him along and to show him the Jedi path, but Arlan knew his joining could not be the norm. Shaking the inhibitions from his heart, Arlan looked to Serra returning her gaze. Whatever lay ahead of them could be taken in stride. After all, Arlan was a man whom had come back from the brink of death surely becoming a Jedi was no greater a feat than that.

"It's a funny thing. I've been to more planets than I can count but I cannot recall visiting one like Hoth." Arlan said with a wry smile. "Looks like I already have something new and exciting to look forward to." Pausing again Arlan began to mull over his past experiences. "Be nice to see something new though, regardless of the danger. Once we get there what will happen? Will I have to take a test of some kind, or will you vouching for me be enough?" Arlan asked with an earnest heart, and as he did so the last of the cargo was carted away by a team of droids. "Well, looks like I will find out soon enough." Arlan finished, motioning towards the empty hold.

"No, no test. I will see to your training. There will be plenty to see there, that's for sure." She motioned for him to follow her as they left the ship. "Once we're there, there will be a wealth of information to take in and learn, not just of the Jedi, but also of the Sith. One cannot understand the Jedi without understanding the Sith as well."

Sera guided him down through the hangar towards another ship, her ship. She smiled as it came into view, the bright metallic hull reflecting the light off of it with a sort of radiance. Stopping at the terminal the woman tapped in a few codes to release the ramp of the vessel and stretched her arm outwards towards it. "Here we are." The yacht was certainly not a typical Jedi starship, that much was obvious, but she had always preferred subtlety through hiding in plain sight. "We'll be on Ossus in no time. From there I'll be happy to answer any questions you have."

Yet again Serra managed to surprise Arlan with her sheer brazen kindness, a feature he had began to admire in her. He walked behind her slowly, trying his best to mask his mercenary swagger with a more regal gait while in the company of his Jedi companion, a feat made all the more difficult due to his injuries. He was on the mend though, the bacta from earlier still working it's magic upon his bones after all this time. Arlan surmised, that if he continued to heal at this rate, by the time they reached Ossus he would be fit enough to resume his daily life unhindered. That being said, Arlan had no idea how rigorous the Jedi training he was due to undergo would be and if his newly mended body would hold together under such strain. He would have to put his faith in Serra at that point, believing wholeheartedly that she would know best. It was as that last thought ran through his mind, that a ship came into view. One he suspected to be Serra's.

"She's a beauty, a bit unordinary from what I suspect a Jedi usually travels in, but a beauty nonetheless." Arlan quipped as he placed his hands at his sides and looked over the impressive figure of the ship. "Before I met you on Felucia I scarcely knew the difference between Jedi and Sith, learning about either would be a treat and both a godsend. I'll do all I can to make sure your faith in me was well placed, but I suppose you know that already." Arlan smiled a bit, walking towards the ship and turning back to Serra. "You can fly this one yourself I imagine, or will my services be required again?" He finished on a comical note.

Sera laughed at Arlan's jest. "Yes. This one I can pilot. Though I don't ordinarily have to, as there are several droid crew members that handle that." As they stepped aboard Sera showed her new apprentice around the ship, hoping to help in making him feel at home while they traveled from Onderon to Ossus. "Two sides of the same coin - That is generally the philosophical viewpoint most take with respect to Sith and Jedi. I feel that is a bit of an unfair generalization. It is primarily based off of the two sides of the Force, but doesn't take into consideration much else." She snapped her fingers, "And that - that is why we're so indistinguishable to most of the galaxy."

Upon reaching the cockpit, Sera took the pilot's seat this time, strapping in and firing the engines while inputting the coordinates for Ossus. "This is the start of the new Arlan. I hope you're ready."

Arlan was a bit relived he wouldn't be the one piloting their new vessel to Ossus. Not due to a lack of ability mind you, but for the sole want of taking it easy for the next leg of their journey. Arlan had a lot to think about, not just the influx of information about the Jedi and Sith but also how he wanted his life to progress. For the duration of his recovery Arlan had considered heavily reforming The Carrion Company and continuing to expunge the filth of the Galaxy. Now though an entirely new path laid open before him, one of true meaning and worth. Of course Arlan still had much to learn about the Jedi before passing true judgment on their order, but if Serra was anything like an example of normalcy for them the order couldn't be too bad. As he thought on though, Serra ushered him into her ship and continued to speak. Arlan would simply nod in retort, taking in all he could from her words and then once aboard he would turn his gaze to the Jedi Master and begin to speak.

"I admit, I didn't put much stock into a hockey religion like the Force. Sith and Jedi were the same to me, I think most people are the same." Arlan said firmly. "I'd be a fool to ignore what I saw with my own eyes though, and so I'm willing to listen." Arlan finished, staring out of a nearby view-port. "A new start eh? I think that's just what I need."
