Painting the Roses Red? Off with Your Head!

Carliah Dakrone

Walking the Path to Redemption
"One death... and several people walking away happy. I was feeling kind today," she mumbled dismissively, not really wanting to discuss it. She glanced around at all the destroyed droids and frowned. Had she really upset him so greatly that he had felt the need to cause this much destruction? The Mad Queen wasn't sure how she really felt about that. Yusan was supposed to be kind and understanding. He was her sanity in a way. [member="Yusan Fenn"]

"Dont worry about them, they are just soulless machines whos own needs don't register to someone higher than them, no?" He was making a point, both to her and himself about the role she played and the role he played. "After all, you can't fault someone for destroying things they own. Cutting their 'lives' short and making sure that their story ends right here and now am i wrong?" He raised a brow as he waited for her answer. He was done with her own tantrums and not facing what could happen if she didn't fix herself. She had every right to be mentally unstable but she could show this in other ways, it didn't have to end with people dying. "And oh right, no one cared about these droids, so throwing their lives away was alright, hell they probably didn't care if they were hurt."

Carliah reacted in a way that even she didn't expect. Tears welled up beneath the red cloth band covering her eyes and she raised her right arm and slapped him as hard as she could. All of this happened within seconds of him finishing his rant. She froze for a moment, hating herself for harming him once again before she turned and ran out of the room. She locked herself in her private quarters and pressed her back against a nearby wall. She slowly slid down it and on to the ground. She found herself doing something she hadn't done since Yusan had found her. She turned off all the lights, found the darkest corner of the room, sat down, pulled her knees up to her chest with her forehead resting upon them, and cried silently. [member="Yusan Fenn"]

Yusan expected far worse than the slap, what he didn't expect was the obvious sadness as she retreated from the room and he stared in awe at this for a few moments before starting towards her private quarters and gave one look to anyone that came close to the door or room. They would leave and after checking and finding it locked her sighed and shouted into the room through the door. "Carliah... please open the door, i want to talk to you..." He knew she probably wouldn't so his hand drifted to the panel, ready to put in a override code he had installed so that he could get into any door, doing this without even Carliah's knowledge.

Carliah lifted her head slightly to look at the door before dropping it back onto her knees. "Go away!" she called, not even moving from her spot on the floor. She wished Jink was there. He didn't criticize her for her mental instability. He loved her. Yusan was suppose to love her too, but it was becoming very obvious that she much to different now. The two of them were going to end up destroying each other at this rate. The Mad Queen didn't know if she could handle that. She had already killed him once, she could never hurt him again whether it was intentional or not didn't matter. [member="Yusan Fenn"]

"Come on... i hate seeing you cry, hell even if its times like when i need to read things for you crying is still a bit of a harsh way to go about it." He sighed and didn't open the door, if she wanted to be alone he would let her but he was going to try and cheer her up first if he could, his words continuing. "What happened to the carliah that would sit there and watch memories inside your mind, i mean even if you are insane you are still the same old Carliah that i loved before i died."

"No... I can't. That girl you met in the alley that day is dead. She died in Vornskr's dungeons. You can never have her back. No one can bring her back. Don't waste your time trying to achieve something that can never be. Memories are nice, but that's all they are. We can never get those moments back... I never should have let you stay here. If I had sent you off somewhere else at least you could have remembered me the way I used to be. Now you're memories are too tainted by what I have become," By the end of her rant Carliah was practically screaming at him through the door. Tears were still streaming down her face as she spoke. The words actually hurt to say. [member="Yusan Fenn"]

This time he didn't even hesitate as he keyed in the code as the door would slowly open and he moved through it, not answering any question or doing anything except turning right over to her and without letting her think twice about what he did as he walked right over to her. And without hesitation he knelt down, leaned forward and wrapped his arms around her as he sighed and just spoke softly. "We still have the same memories, and you can't damage someone you used to be forever. That is why i still remain as i know the girl from the alley is dead but that doesn't mean a part of her can't come back... after all you granted requests today. That is proof." He smiled and leaned his head against against her. "Now stop crying before Jinks kills me."

Carliah wiped the tears from her face and glanced up at him. She still felt like he was wrong, but she wouldn't bother trying to say it. The stubborn former Echani wouldn't listen if she tried. She allowed him to hug her for a few minutes before she slowly stood back up. She brushed off her dress and tried her best to act like nothing happened. [member="Yusan Fenn"]

"You are still as strong as ever Carliah... You can still tell me im wrong though, i know you are thinking it. I was in your head long enough to figure out how your new mind works and thats why i know the old Carliah is still there, just scared and hiding. But she is still there." He smiled at his former wife and went to sit down on a chair in her room. "Nice place, its like its built for a queen."

Carliah merely shook her head and followed him over. She took a seat on one of the plush green couches, sighing softly as she did so. She would never accept that Yusan was right, but she also didn't think it was worth fighting over. The Mad Queen stared at her guard for a few moments before turning her gaze to the floor. It was sad really, the two of them had gone from being a happy, loving couple to not being able to even look each other in the eye, at least on her part. [member="Yusan Fenn"]

"Hey... You know you can still sit beside me if you need a friend and to be held... but then again Jinks would probably kick my ass not that i suggested that and i really dont feel like messing with him today as he tends to give me a bit of a confused time when i talk to him. Considering he is your husband now though right? Probably shouldn't tell him about the kiss on the forehead earlier.

"We haven't actually married yet... His daughter just calls me Mommy," Carliah replied, blushing a bit. The offer was nice, but she didn't know if Jink would approve. She briefly wondered if he and Yusan got along. That's got to make there conversations awkward. She briefly tried to imagine how one of there conversations would go. Yusan probably said something about her having his children, and Jink probably just smiled and shot back some cryptic remark. [member="Yusan Fenn"]

"I see, well atleast you have one child still that young..." He smiled and sighed to himself as he thought of his own children that wont get to live actual lives. It made him disappointed internally for not being able to stop such a crime as to rob them of their childhood. "Carliah, ive been thinking about returning to the Republic..." His smile faded the moment he said it, he wasn't sure if he would or not but Carliah deserved to know what was going on.

"No! You can't! I need you here, with me. The kids will be around soon, they need a father. If... If you go, I'll go with you!" she pleaded, giving him a look of fear. She couldn't handle the thought of possibly losing him again. She was desperate enough to try and change if it meant him staying around. The madness may never go away, but she would work hard to curb her violent tendencies if it meant she could stay with him. Having him around had been such a blessing for her, and she didn't want him to leave her, not again. [member="Yusan Fenn"]

"You, Carliah, are a sith, the children are sith, Jinks is a sith... i think... he confuses me. My point is i am not, i disapprove of everything the Sith do and you know where my place is and where your place is Carliah..." His hands rested in his lap as he looked at her with calm eyes and spoke again. "You and i both know your going to the Republic would only hurt you, and not to mention i am not sure if it would be right for your children to come to the republic too. I haven't decided yet Carliah, but i am more than ready to return to the Republic if i must."

Carliah shook her head, refusing to accept such a statement. She had no idea how she would make it work, but she was determined to have Yusan be around, if not for her then for her children.

"I will find a way to make it work, I promise. Please don't leave me. I don't want to lose you again. Part of me still loves you.." the last part of her statement was a whisper. She didn't actually intend for him to hear her speak those words. He couldn't know that she still cared for him, nothing good would come of such feelings.

He looked at her and sighed as he stood up slowly and walked over towards her. "Can i sit here." He motioned to a place beside her as he looked at her in complete sadness, while he didn't hear her words he could tell she was sad for some reason or was it worry. He needed to know and there was only the one way of talking with her that would get him his answers. "Carliah." He started as he looked ather face. "Please understand that you and i do not have the same path anymore.."

"I want you to be with me... I don't want us to be apart... I just... I didn't have a choice... Everything I've done has been to protect our kids, and to an extent you... I tried... I... I'm broken... I should have been the one to die... Maybe things would be better if I did die," Carliah mumbled, hugging her knees to her chest and resting her forehead on them. Yusan used to find her in this position in the apartment when she had a nightmare or a panic attack while he was gone. [member="Yusan Fenn"]

He smiled and sat down beside her before wrapping his arms around her and closing his eyes as he just sat there with her for a good five minutes. No words would be said, nothing would be done, just him holding her like this. He wasn't really sure what to say at first but after those five minutes passed he smiled wider and spoke. "Carliah, i don't remember dying again, after all im holding you right now. You aren't broken, just... troubled. You are trying to think of a way out of this situation that helps everyone but there isn't such a thing."
