SERNPIDAL SYSTEM
FORMER SITH EMPIRE SPACE

The frigate Contruum, formerly the good ship Plaeryin of the Horde, now an independent privateer under the Mandalorian aegis, was crewed by mercs. Contented, experienced, well-paid mercs who got a share of every take. And the take was about to be astronomical.

The Sernpidal system had some serious navigational anomalies, and Mandalorian probes had detected more than a few odd bits of traffic around here. Far as Ember's sources could ascertain, there was a Tulak Hord-class Star Destroyer here, hiding in an asteroid field. That ship was worth well over a hundred fifty million. It mounted forty point-defense guns and forty quad lasers; all of its other weapons were big, slow-tracking batteries suitable for engaging other ships of the line. A light frigate like the Contruum could outmaneuver those just fine, especially flitting from asteroid to asteroid. And the Tulak Hord carried bombers and gunships, which was exactly what the Azalus-class light frigate had been designed to fight.

This mercenary crew included all manner of soldiers of fortune. Today was going to be a good day.

Alongside the Contruum, which had no hangar bay, flew a handful of Niathal-class shuttles and some assorted small transports. Those were for boarding, and for fighting the bombers, gunships, and so forth.

A frigate, some shuttles, and some freighters were about to tackle a Sith Empire command star destroyer. In an asteroid belt.

OOC/ Feel free to be a gunner on the Contruum, a pilot or boarder on one of the shuttles, or bring your own freighters/fighter/whatever.

Deciding not to bring his own ship, but instead to use one of the boarding ships, McNeal sat in his seat with his rifle in hand. Today was going to score him big money, and probably a quick death. Not sure what the intentions where for this star destroyer, he called into his com link in his helmet, studying the ships schematics in his HUD.

"This is McNeal to Contruum over. What's the plan?" He continued studying the ship. It was huge apparently, and worth a lot of money. Ryan McNeal was unsure what someone wanted to do with it. [member="Ember Rekali"]

"Contruum to [member="McNeal"] and all freighter crews. Get into position behind the asteroids. We'll go in first, draw their fire, occupy their gunships. Once we've got their attention, you punch through their gunships and go for the boarding. Pick your targets carefully. The docking bays are on the sides, set well back. The bridge is heavily armored."

At the helm of the frigate, Ember gunned the engines. The Contruum leaped forward through the asteroids. Almost at once, heavy turbolaser fire flashed out, but between the ship's agility and careful use of asteroid cover, hits were minimal. He had started from behind it; it began the slow process of turning, and he angled to keep himself behind it as it launched bombers and gunships; it carried no fighters. The Contruum's long-range flak cannons started shredding their way into the small craft.

The game was on!

"Roger that Contruum." With that laser fire, and being even smaller than the cruiser, the boarding ship was able to zip past all the firing. Casualtys were minimal, but that didn't matter to McNeal. "Pilot! Stay close to the engines! They can't track us there." Being close to the engines would mask any heat signatures, so it would be one less way to track this boarding ship. "Boarding ship one to all boarding ships, follow on me, and we'll make it through this." He proposed, they didn't have to follow him, it just seemed like a good idea.

The huge ship was beginning its large turn. A blast hit nearby, and it rocked the ship. "Shield reports!" He commanded the pilot. "Another blast like that will take them out sir." The man reported back. "Well don't let it happen! Get us in that hangar bay!" He commanded [member="Ember Rekali"]

The Sith Empire had fallen. Aela Kellov had died in a last stand against those who had killed her father. With those events, Jek'ai Cyin had been left with nothing to do. Her leaders lay dead beneath the rubble, and her beloved was nothing but ashes floating in space. Many nights had been spent with a blaster held up with trembling hands, pointing at the side of her skull. Nothing had come of it. Though she didn't fear death... the former Imperial agent felt like she had something to live for. She just didn't know what it was yet. So she kept herself busy in the meantime. Eventually she'd find purpose again. Unless she died on one of these reckless mercenary outings, that is.

Luckily for her, this Star Destroyer was outmatched. There were more than enough ships going against it- along with capable warriors preparing to board the vessel. Whoever manned the ship had only a small chance of victory. A very slim chance at that. Even now there were already several freighters nearing the hangar bay. One of which carried a moderately armed Jek. With her were other fighters, varying in species and gender. Closest to her was a male Zabrak who she recognized from a slave auction she was in years ago. He had been another 'item' for sale. Despite their shared experience they didn't acknowledge each other. It was safe to say neither of them wanted to relive their pasts.

"Oi, pilot, follow boarding ship one from a distance. Use any stray asteroids as cover if you need to. Don't get our ship hit, and I won't have to hit you." A soft whimper came in response. The pilot was a small Rodian. Made sense for her to be scared of the Zeltron woman behind her (especially since Jek is slightly over six feet tall, over a foot taller than the pilot). "Y-Yes ma'am. Of course ma'am." This would be interesting. That was guaranteed.
[member="Ember Rekali"] [member="McNeal"]

With that said, another shot nearly missed them as they closed in to the side of the ship, nearing the hangar. By this time McNeal had pulled the pilot out of his seat. "Where the hell did you learn to fly?" He jumped into the seat, Nd grabbed a hold of the controls. Ge punched the accelerator, picking up speed quickly. "Gun it Boarding ship two if you wanna make it." He yelled at [member="Jek'ai Cyin"] as he continued to Bob and weave around turret fire."I don't think they want us in." He said mainly to himself.

Now he was closing Ingo the hangar bay, and it wasn't till he was right on the opening that he quickly hit the breaks. The ship didn't even really land, it skidded more than anything, taking out a few Sith troopers with it. It finally slammed into the wall, breaking the side engine, leaving it grounded. "I'm in!" He reported. "I repeat, Boarding ship one is in." He ran back to his seat and grabbed his equipment. Unaware if anyone else made it. He picked up his Repeater Carbine, and his two repeater pistols. Aedan Miles comes out of hyperspace and looks forward out of the command chair of the frigate he had brought along. It wasn't large but it would do it was an Impetus-class frigate and its compliment today were a squadron of Devastator-class heavy fighters. Aedan had been bored when word got out about Ember going on a trip so he deiced to tag along. once out of hyperspace somewhat behind [member="Ember Rekali"]'s ship he activated his coms to him and calmly stated. "Hey Ember sorry for being late brought some more men if you need them to help out and we can fly escort and what not I will be going out in my fighter but Lt. Aethos will be here to answer any questions you have."

Aedan cut coms and made his way to the hangar pulling on his flight suit in the changing room before he walked towards his fighter the other members of Dragoon Squadron already mounted up and ready to go their fighters running. He climbed into his fighter and quickly started it up before he took off flying out of the hangar and towards the asteroids.

The Siege Tower, Nebulon B7 frigate

The Siege Tower was comparable to the Contruum when it came to speed and maneuverability, both ships had sublight speed of class 5 and the Tower was just a bit bigger than Contruum, 5 meters taller, 50 meters taller, but 60 meters slimmer than Contruum, the Tower also lacked flak cannons, carrying turbolaser batteries instead along with concussive missiles and squadrons of fighters and dropships. It was a moderate ship when it came to combat, which made it versatile although not particularly strong in any scenario. When Contruum excelled at anti-fighter duty, the Tower was moderate at it, it was also moderate at providing fire support against Capital Ships, and moderate at providing escort of fighters and landing boarding parties. It did not had weaknesses, but it didn't exactly had any strengths either.

That comparison said, the Siege Tower flew across the asteroids much like the Contruum did, however, in a flanking maneuver, while the other frigate baited the Star Destroyer, letting it focus the fire of turbolasers and attention of Sith gunships as the Tower moved for a surprise strike from behind the cover of asteroids. The Tower began a barrage of the fifteen dual turbolasers it carried, focusing fire on any point-defense turrets the Destroyer had, anything that would make boarding the ship more difficult. HK's ship had a minute or two of clear firing at the enemy ship before the Destroyer would focus some of their batteries on them as well, it would still take some heat off of Contruum, make their job easier, and by then the Tower would be behind cover of asteroids as well.

[member="Ember Rekali"] would soon receive a transmission from the other frigate, although he probably already knew of its presence on the field, the mercs were hired by him after all!
"This is Siege Tower, we are in position, firing on enemy ship. We are launching are our fighters to provide support and the Iron Company is ready for boarding action, over."

Meanwhile in the ship's hangars,
HK was directing the troops, clad in his armor and weaponry, ready for a fight with his squad of guards and the rest of the troops, wielding bolters and some carrying the heavy E-Web blaster repeaters aboard the dropships, weapon used for gun emplacements once they would board the enemy ship.
"Move it, let us depart and take the fight to the Sith Remnants! Iron Knights, prepare for battle!"
The droid called out, although his calls have been most likely droned out by the sound of OS-G2 fighters leaving the hangar with screech of their engines as they scrambled to battle.

Either way, the soldiers were hurrying onto the dropships and they were ready to commence boarding actions against the Sith Remnants.

[member="HK-36"]

With a frigate called Contruum leading the charge, the Butcher of Contruum obviously had to be there as well. As it happened she had hitched a ride on board the Siege Tower as well. The Lightbringer, Archangel's very secret, cloaked ship was not meant for combat but for infiltration and, well, to be a mobile processing station for organics, an even more secret technology, so it would be foolish to risk and expose it like this. It had been some time since she had worked with the Protectorate, her last mission in their services had been on Yaga Minor during the unsuccessful Mandalorian defence against the Sith.

That had been almost in a different age. Now the Sith Empire had crumbled and its territory was up for grabs in a galactic scramble for the rim, the two inheritors of its worlds, the Republic and the Mandalorian Clans were set for war, nothing uniting them anymore. Moira had watched the standoff in the orbit of Coruscant with the certainty that the devastation would be...beautiful once war erupted. That was the natural state of existence for organic beings. Moira had moved on as well after having left the Protectorate, moved on to...bigger things.

Archangel, all the work towards furthering the Age of Steel, though that would still take years, decades, perhaps more. No matter, for the machine was patient and not an overemotional battering ram that saw the need to charge into every skirmish to prove herself. Emotion sort of had been burnt out of her in the metaphorical fires of the forge.

Soft steps on the ground announced her arrival in the hangar just after HK had given his short pep talk. For her part Moira had use of Sith - those with the cunning and intelligence to rise above the average, such as Lady Kyros, whose very unorganic efficiency she appreciated. Kitted out in her suit of ultrachrome armour, wielding an MK1 boltgun and a Scylla chainsword, which had been acquired during a Rebel raid in the twilight of the Sith Empire, she joined the HK droid. Who unfortunately did not yet understand the logic of processing all organics.

"I hear Fringe was repulsed at Eriadu. Congratulations," she said softly. Moira might not have had contact with Protectorate personnel, beyond certain Rebel raids - though Archangel, managed through a cover identity, did have several wealthy clients within the nation's borders - but she had been following events very closely. The battle had been rather close, Protectorate victory a result of prevailing in the space battle. Whether they would pull together and reclaim old glory was open, though she had her own thoughts, but in the end she did not care who won or lost.

"Kerrigan is not here? I would've thought she would jump at the chance to cleanse what remnants remain of the Sith." A Tulak Hord-class Star Destroyer was a great prize, payment was extremely lucrative, too good an opportunity to pass up. Archangel would naturally provide quality services tailored specifically to the explosive needs of the day, namely through violence and butchery.

As McNeal was ready to open the door, he could feel the hull of the ship being shot by blaster. His first instinct was to jump out guns blazing. So he did just that. He opened the hatch, and hopped out, repeater going off has he ran for any kind of cover. "Hey anyone?! I usually don't say this, BUT I'M ALONE ON A KARKING STAR DESTROYER!!!!" He yelled into his comms, it was open to anyone listening, even the Sith. Not the smartest idea. He leapt over a broken wing from a starfighter he hit on the way in. "Blast the pilot's still in the ship!" He yelled to himself. He peaked over the wing, and popped a few shots. Two soldiers went down with them. "Anyone?!" He yelled in his comms again. He usually did things alone, but he wasn't stupid enough to do this on his own.

He tossed a thermal he had, and it took another three soldiers. There was maybe, 15 left on his side, another 10 coming from the other side.

"Siege Tower, Miles, thanks for the assist." The Contruum slipped through an asteroid gap, dumping flak, point defense, and quad laser fire into the heart of a gunship formation. The gunship formation -- Imperial Pandorum-class ships armed with proton torpedo mass driver turrets -- promptly went away. [member="McNeal"]'s status update brought a hard grin to Ember's face, but he didn't have time to do more than get his comms officers to spread the word that one of the boarding shuttles had made it in.

His course inscribed a tight loop around a major engine. Flak guns and quad lasers hammered at the handful of slow-moving turbolasers that actually had a line of fire on him back here. The Tulak Hord-class had its strengths. This situation was not one of them. Some warhead support from nearby Niathal shuttles gave a little more to work with.

Taking down the shields, though, would still be a slog. That was why the boarders were so important.

Aedan heard the call and smirked calling throughout the hangar bay. "BOARDERS MOUNT UP WE ARE GOING IN HOT!" there were various yells of agreement as the shuttles available were loaded into and then the fighters and shuttles took off flashing out of the frigate as it started to move into the asteroid field slowly its weapons taking pot shots at the Star destroyer as it moved around towards the rear trying to keep its attention off of the fighters and shuttles. They carried droids and soldiers as well as the frigates commanding officer Aedan Miles he was going in for some fun on a star destroyer. [member="Ember Rekali"] [member="McNeal"]

"Comin' in soon, vod. Keep it up." He radioed through to [member="McNeal"], complaining about lack of support, and that was what Gabriel was tasked with. He wasn't the world's most extravagant pilot, so he decided to use one of the boarding crafts, but maybe he shouldn't have as he could've taken something much faster and much less scary to be shot at in. But it'd soon be over. Those Star Destroyers were incredibly menacing though, and its' armament didn't mess around either, this would be a bumpy ride.

He stood seated and strapped in, slightly nervous. Sure, but he had been on more dangerous ship rides before, and once he was inside he was going to give the crew of that Star Destroyer a massacre they'd never forget.
Quickly checking the condition of his Westar M5, it seemed to be in working order, along with his wrist-mounted rocket launcher and flamethrower. He was indeed ready to rock.

He was happy these asteroids were there to offer extra protection, or else he'd be a lot more worried in this situation. Putting on his Buy'ce, a hissing noise following as the HUD booted up.

"We are on it."
HK responded swiftly, shortly, to the point.

He motioned for [member="Moira Skaldi"] to come aboard his dropship as the landing ramps began to close, the troops finished loading their weaponry, they were all set.
The ship rocked as its engines powered up and began to lift off of the floor, HK looked towards Moira, grabbing to one of the support beams of the dropship.
"Well the Vong made the mistake of forgetting to equip something that would protect them from gas attacks. Their whole army decimated and my company did not had any casualties. I wish I knew that knock-out gas is lethal to them."
He would glance out of the window of the dropship,
"Prisoners are more valuable than corpses."

[member="Ember Rekali"] [member="Aedan Miles"] [member="Jek'ai Cyin"] [member="Gabriel Audemars"]
The squads of fighters ripped into the enemy gunships, swift and nimble enough to outmaneuver them in a dogfight, able to provide cover for the dropships coming from the Siege Tower towards the Star Destroyer, all the while the batteries of turbolaser from the frigate chipped away at the shields of the Destroyer, the lighter laser turrets targeted any enemy gunships that came in range of the Tower.

The dropships of the Protectorate entered the hangars of Sith Remnants, McNeal would be able to hear the roar of their engines, clank of metal as they touched against the metal floor and the ramps lowered down, it looked like they were second aboard.
"Charge!"
HK called out, the white blade of his lightsaber extended with a hiss, four other blades extended out as well, they were blue, however, as his guards activated their lightsabers as well. That harmony of snaps and hiss as the energy blades of lightsaber activated, it was one of the most chilling noises in the world, it signaled an arrival of either a Jedi Protector or a Sith Warrior. Or in this case, five heavily armored droids with lightsaberss leading heavy boarding assault troops.

HK rose his free hand, a shatterpistol in his free hand as he pulled the trigger and the gun fired a high-speed projectile silently. It hit a Remnant soldier who rounded the corner, the crack of his armor was heard, the noise of plasteel shattering, as the projectile from the pistol went straight through him with a WHOOOSH.

The Iron Company troops threw a salvo of gas grenades down the hangar, yellow-ish green knock-out gas began to extend out from it to provide smoke cover for the landing parties as well as catch any enemies off-guard. Hopefully McNeal had some sort of gas-filtring system in his mask.

[member="HK-36"]

Moira noted the ignition of multiple lightsabres as the energy blades sprang into existence with a snap-hiss. There was no expression of surprise crossing her placid features. She had been informed about HK's project to create several copies of himself, it had been started back when she was still Director of Military Intelligence in the Protectorate, clearly it had come to fruition. They would be so very useful for her purposes.

The dull crack of her boltgun was heard as an explosive bolt exited and tore the helmet of a Remnant soldier apart, blowing the organic's face off and making him tumble down to the ground like a headless puppet. A hail of gas grenades was tossed into the fray as the Iron Company soldiers sought to cover the boarding parties and surprise the hostiles that were filling the hangar. Klaxxons and alarm sirens blared, through the thick, yellow-ish green mist Moira advanced, a boltgun barking out rounds in one hand, blasting Sith remnant troopers to chunks.

One soldier got seized and hard his arm broken before she kicked him towards his companions, firing as he flew. Moira did in fact own a lightsabre of her own, courtesy of a deal with Lady Kyros, though it was her chainsword that she took from her hip, putting it to good use as she cleaved a Remnant soldier charging her from shoulder to belly, letting him crumple down. More organics were there to kill, more targets to terminate. Limbs would fly, heads roll in a blood orgy of Illyric proportions.

Blood for the Blood God! Skulls for the skull throne!

People were reporting in all over to help, where the hell did they all come from wait, what was that. Gas! His helmet would block most of it, but damn it was like OC spray. He coughed, and weezed a little. "I'm good! I'm good!" He coughed some more. The other troops didn't last long though, they dropped like flies, and McNeal shot the sleeping bodies up. There was no prisoners in his book on this. "Warnings would be nice next time." [member="HK-36"] the ship was landing in the hangar now. A Mando was on his way. Now he wasn't alone, and that was okay. "Nice to have back up." He said in his comms as he plasterre the last guy with his repeater. Reloading the weapon, he awaited to see his new friend.

Shortly after [member="HK-36"]'s troops landed there would be laser fire over their heads severely toned down but more then enough to remove quite a few of the enemy as the 12 devastator-class heavy fighters landed alongside a few more shuttles. Leaping out of it Aedan Miles smirked as he ignited his silver bladed saber staff with a familiar snap-hiss and charged forward wearing a fully enclosed flight suit until he could get back to his fighter and change into more suitable armor. Passing the droid HK Aedan would reach out and give it a hefty slap on its metal back in greetings as he suddenly pushed off of the ground adding in some strong force assisted leaping to land at the troops they were facing spinning his weapon to block a couple dozen blaster bolts as he suddenly spun away cutting down two men who were charging at him. "Sorry, better to get the gas cover going the first thing before the enemy troops realize what is happening."
HK responded in his emotionless drawl, nodding to Aedan as he clapped his back.

"Secure the landing zone!"
HK looked back to the troops still coming from the dropships,
"Securing the landing zone!"
They responded as Iron Knights brought out mobile dura-steel covers and placed them in front of the dropship ramps, soon enough the E-Web repeaters joined them, finishing the gun-emplacement whose sole task was to protect their landing zone in case the troops inside needed extraction.

McNeal would be able to see now who were his allies on the battlefield, mercenaries in heavy armor led by tall, slightly slender figure of a droid wielding a white-bladed lightsaber, grey cloak fluttering off of his shoulders with each of his movements, each slash or strike of his training lightsaber, sending enemy troopers to the ground, keeling over or sending them flying back with blunt strikes of the mace-like lightsaber.

Here and there an Iron Company trooper was seen handcuffing one of the knocked-out Remnant soldiers and pulling them to the side, although McNeal was not into taking prisoners, HK very much so preferred to capture people alive rather than just kill off everyone. He could always interrogate them, or simply sell them back to their respectable government.

HK's rampage with a mace, dealing out blunt damage that stunned or incapacitated, helped that goal along although Moira just chopping everything in sight to pieces with her chain-sword did quite the opposite. It was weird to see the contrast between the two droids, HK was the more human and merciful one, yet Moira had the appearance of an actual human.

"A droid, explains the gas. Thanks." Even though he worked alone, the walking metal humanoid just saved his life, and he respected that. Wait. "Are you holding....never mind. What's our next move?" He only shot those not cuffed just yet. "I was thinking going at the engines, and emping them." [member="HK-36"] it was it only plan to disrupt movement of the star destroyer. There was a lot of mercs on this job, and McNeal still didn't know what the pay out was.

(Excuse me I've been drinking, if you need to move my character, permission HK isgranted.)

From this angle, and the comm chatter, he couldn't quite tell how many boarding ships had made it through the hangar field, straight through the teeth of the small guns' fire. It sounded like at least three. The Imperial gunships were shrapnel now, shredded by the Azalus' hundred and twenty guns. Forty flak cannons, forty point-defense, forty quad lasers manned by experienced mercs. But that didn't let him prioritize the turbolasers, most of which were too big for his guns to handle anyway. He still took shelter around and between the asteroids as turbolaser fire chewed the miniature planetoids into nickel-iron granola.

The Contruum had given the boarding ships their ingress route and, for the moment, its role was done. Apart from harrying and annoying the bridge crew, keeping them focused on the frigates rather than the small-scale boarding attempt.
