Within the peak of the Sith temple on Bastion, the sorcerer Vereshin scratched numbers across a chalkboard beneath the coursing sunlight of the windows built into the pyramid. Under the glass cone, a huge rock of meteorite levitated above energy spires which held it firmly in place. Sparks of violet lightning danced over the surface of the shining rock which still smelt of cosmic fire. The Acolyte Venthis meditated in preparation while his associate finalized the calculations.

"In the laws of magic, every gain equates to a sacrifice of the same value." Vereshin explained while he continued the equation on the blackboard. He wore his usual black coat with the standing collar, a silver pin of the Sith emblem on the breast. Stopping the motion of his hand, he turned around to face Venthis who prepared according to the sorcerer's warning. "The sacrifice for cheating death is not life, but the degradation of life itself." The goal of Vereshin was uncover the secret to immortality beyond the means of essence transferring. To find the ultimate solution to the greatest phenomena of black magic. He believed the key rested in the distortion of time.

"Cheating death is not a feat attained through the means of flesh, but dimension." Vereshin explained his theory to the Acolyte. Today they experimented with a plane in effort to cast a viewpoint to another place in time, possibly the plane beyond death as Vereshin hoped. He did not openly admit his inadvertent use of the Acolyte as an unknowing guinea pig. Somebody needed to cast the plane, somebody else needed to witness. Turning back to the blackboard, Vereshin estimated the mass of the meteorite and calculated the force required to collapse it into space. They applied the magic in the form of a black hole on an earthly scale, partially due to Vereshin's own obsession and the clues in the mechanics related to cheating death and bypassing time.

"We will compress the meteorite until the occupied space is destroyed, but keep your focus sharp so we do not explode or push it through the wall. Your application of the Force must be strong but concentrated." Grabbing the handle of a teapot resting by the board, he wrapped his lips around the spout and drank from the pot directly, too excited to bother with manners and quickly diverted his attention back to the mathematics.

Since the beginning of time, the life cycle of a being would always end in death. It is inevitable, people die. No one could completely escape death, as it would catch up in one way or another. Vereshin, a Sith Knight, somewhat a mad scientist though an associate of Venthis had called out to the young acolyte for assistance on something he was working on. He sketched across the chalkboard, various calculations and etchings almost in a frantic manner. Though in contrast, Venthis sat on a pedestal with his eyes closed channeling his inner energy almost as if he were a constant flowing fountain with energy exiting his body only to re-enter and continue the process. Much like life itself.

Vi's words would ring around the room, entering Venthis' head as he spoke. Though as he explained the plan, Venthis' eyes opened revealing his emerald eyes glaring outwards. "Compress the... meteorite?" He asked, squinting briefly. "How safe is this?" He asked, for his own precaution. His eyes would meet the meteorite, before giving a nod to himself as if ticking something off in his head. He wore a simple set of black robes, with red fine stitching and details across them.

He would raise to his feet, placing his hands behind his back. A dagger seemingly at his side, though it would only appear now, having not been there before. The idea of cheating death was something Venthis found interesting a topic countless powerful Sith had searched for. Hopefully, the true secret to cheating death would be uncovered by the pair. "What happens once it's destroyed?" He finally asked.

The electricity coursing over the slab of meteorite crackled and glowed against the dark surface while Vereshin took a step backwards to survey the arcane formula. He finished the final line and set the chalk down, bringing a finger to his lips in silent thought before turning around to face Venthis. While the prospect of cheating posed the ultimate challenge for any sorcerer, Vereshin was particularly interested in the entities they may find beyond the void.

"Like every area of the Sith arts, there is risk involved." He placed a hand on the desk and leaned backwards while facing Venthis, challening his own energy in preparation for the experiment. "Risk can be avoided with delicacy and caution." He moved away from the desk and spoke while his stride began to circle the meteorite. A curious chap to say he least, the sorcerer would not get within ten feet of a fight or battle, but would willingly and recklessly collapse a rock into the face of existence with little regard for the consequences. He splayed his palms over the warm surface and felt the heat travel through his skin. A pause held on the air before he answered Venthis' next question.

"Once the matter is destroyed, the space will collapse and create a gateway to the netherworld." Vereshin stepped backwards and stood Venthis. His palms remained open and facing the great rock, slowly producing energy to caress the surface. He turned to the Sith Assassin and raised a thick, black eyebrow in a disconcerting expression. "Be wary not of being sucked in, but what may, or who may, come out." Vereshin spoke of demons and spirits, entities he much desired to speak with and manipulate should they prove malicious. He did not assume Venthis shared the same desire, unless the aspiring assassin held similar interests. "Now begin slowly, do not apply too much force at first." Vereshin applied more pressure to the gravity surrounding the boulder and allowed the space between his position to disperse.

While Venthis focused on compressing the meteorite, Vereshin glanced over the chalkboard and read the equation in the form of an incantation. The spell dripped from his lips in High Sith tongue as he uttered indiscernible syllables while hovering behind the other Sith. Two antique pillars holding large, black candles stood on the side of either energy spire. Walking around to either, Vereshin snapped his fingers and ignited each wick. As the discrete little spark danced off his fingers and illuminated the candle, the energy holding the meteorite shifted from blinding white to a deep indigo, just shy of true black.

The instructions were clear, Venthis understood what he had to do. Though, was unsure of what might happen after the event. He listened to the words of his partner until he would give a nod to what he had to say. "Very well, we shall proceed," Venthis stated. With that, he would raise his arms pointing his hands at the small piece of meteorite and extending his fingers out to it. He began to focus his attempts on completing the task. He attempted to compress the meteorite.

It would seem as if it were unstable, shaking in the air slightly until the energy containing the meteorite shifted in color. The meteorite warped slightly, folding inwards on itself. The room felt warm, various incantations bouncing off each of the walls being directed into the meteorite as if it were sucking it all in.

They were performing something... unnatural, something that shouldn't be possible. Venthis knew this, though the results were too great to miss out on such an opportunity. He closed his eyes, attempting to better his focus. His fingers burned, showing a cracked black substance covering them, and as the rock began to warp the cracks between his fingers began to glow dark red.

He glanced to the side for a moment, clearly distracted by something until he quickly turned back, regathering his energy within himself then re-attempting again. "We're making progress, Vi." He called out.
