Planet choices.

Now everybody here is probably going eh? Aram you lost it or something? We can't control planets.

HOWEVER!

The time is soon upon us when we shall be applying for Major status within the galaxy and be it that we sink or rise shall be our next great adventure.

Dosuun has been our newly founded home, it is right on the edge of civilised(haha) space and is within striking distance of our main targets. We are however in need of two additional planets that we can call our own.

I am calling for suggestions from this map:
Here

We shall sum up our options over the next coming days.

I must have missed the discussion on this in all the shuffle, so can someone enlighten me? What is the benefit of Dosuun? A browse of the Wookieepedia entry on it doesn't turn up anything particular about it. It would be helpful to know what we 'get' by choosing it, so that we can choose complimentary planets (for instance, if it is an industrial world, we might benefit from having an agricultural world as well -- not that people in general pay attention to that sort of thing, so maybe we shouldn't either). I believe this was also being discussed in the Skype chat so it may already have been decided, I'm not entirely sure.

Being blunt, the pickings in the bottom-left portion of the map are sort of slim. That's to be expected, however, as the current majors have/are going to gobble up any Canon world of remote significance. So, we are just going to have to use obscurity to our advantage.

That said, I like the bottom left around Dosunn because of strategic positioning. It's far enough away from the Galactic Alliance and the One Sith that we can comfortably get started and expand. The Jen'ari Empire and Black Roses, being blunt, aren't a factor. We would stomp them.

Because we have a Codex, starting from scratch on worlds not fleshed out by Canon is fine. I say we shape Dosunn to be a fitting capital and do the same with the adjacent worlds. As we grow, we will earn the uber fun worlds.

The main decision on Dosuun was the simple fact it was on the edges of the galaxy with enough room to move. Originally I was tempted to have us started nearer Bespin/Anoat, but while it would cover a good few planets we would forever be close capitol wise to the GA, which isn't the worst thing, but still.

We are trying to work with the Galactic Alliance to make it a civil arrangement as a good guy/bad guy style factions, invasions would all be very mutual and often pre-organised rather than surprise elements and the like, this will deviate a lot of the pressure off us in the beginning.

As for IC lore, Dosuun is the home to a Galactic Remnant base or at least was. It was scouted out and considered a good start to establish a base for the First Order. We are also going to submit a planet submission for 'Imperator One' which will be a small moon that artificially orbits Dosuun, this will be a purely industrial world specifically designed to create weapons, armour and starship for the First Order.

So in closing agricultural worlds would be a good start, or built up civilisation. However looking at the map we can easily push out towards Bespin and Vessek. This will give us a good staging ground for future expansion, plus a Cortosis mining world.

I propose Dosuun as our capital world (we can pretty much built it up as we wish and it would be protected as we expand coreward), then add Virgillia 7, (which has some Imperial-alligned Aristocracy history there), and finally Lipsec ( it is at the end of an important trade route). These three are within about a hex of each other too for the start up.

Honestly? Mostly cause I'm an a-hole, I'd say our starting world should be Skye and the other two should be Vortusa, because of it's orbital shipyards and large production cities, and Furia, for their militaristic people to serve as our minions soldiers, so that we can cuct of the Jen'ari before it's too late.

Anything discussed in Skype chat should be considered speculation... Aram isn't in it, so nothing should be decided in there. The other issue is it has turned into smutville and I very tempted to leave it because of that... I always leave chats that are not on point...

The benefit to Dosuun is having a Capitol that will be difficult to reach... It is pure strategy at that point... From there I believe the worlds we select need to be within a hex of each other, and so Daska's suggestion makes a lot of sense... from there we can organize doms to get the other worlds, and get them done in planned succession...

I propose we go with Daska's suggestion and from there we look up toward Vassek and cutting off anyone else from cutting in...

Agree. Frankly I am uncomfortable with the chat being used to discuss faction strategy at all. It cuts people out of the process and gives the idea that things have been settled without a proper discussion. And the fact that it's become Smutville doesn't help :p that's the reason I took off.

At any rate I agree with your strategic picks and the reasoning behind them.

I don't like Skype chats...I much prefer to do all our discussion in the open on these forums, mostly because it gives us solid backup when needed and everyone can put in their input.

Looking at the map I'd say if we go towards Vassek, taking Bespin in the process and creating a front against the GA. However north of us is the Jen'nari(sp?) Empire as [member="Azure West"] mentioned...they are a spec that needs to be removed (<-evil toned FO stuff there)

I agree with [member="Jaron Lesan"], and [member="Natasi Fortan"]. My word may not carry much, but those planets are strategically important. As well, We can literally move just about anywhere towards the core worlds. Hell, we could move around them and just get into Wild, and Unknown space instead of the Core worlds. We would have a huge amount of planets that we could have, yet be nowhere near the GA, GR, and we would easily take over the smaller ones. We would have alot of space between us and the other Larger Major factions. We need room to grow. So starting from the very back would be the best idea with that.

As well, we can move towards other planets that would be more along the lines of the Galactic Empire, since they owned have of the stuff that we are sitting on. it would be a Gold mine for stories, as well as Lore that we can create for ourselves. I also love the moon idea.

One thing I recomend though, is that we move towards the Sanctuary Pipeline, or the Correlian Trade Spine. Both of those would make a stronger foothold for us. And honestly, if we could get 2-3 doms done fast, we could sit smack on the center of those two trade routes.

Let it be known that the Skype chat exists just for sh1tposting and camaraderie. It's our hangout outside the board, and nothing more. No serious IC plotting should be done there, unless it's just individual threads. Of course ideas can be talked about, but nothing is ever official until it hits the board first.

Anyway, given the reasoning for choosing Dosuun, I am all for it. Ultimately I think the strategic location of having a capital far away from everyone else is the biggest benefit we need. None of the worlds around it are really valuable right now, but that's what the Codex is for. We can always develop them ourselves to suit our needs. Our location on the map though, is pretty much permanent.

There's a simply philosophy of real estate that goes: you can always change the house, but you can't change the land. I think that applies here. Let's take the swathes of undeveloped wide-open acreage that we can build up ourselves instead of the mansion in the middle of a crowded neighborhood.

Your welcome to establish a presence aboard Void Station as well. It's currently under the ownership of the Count and he'd be more than willing to open up it's shipyards and facilities to the First Order's usage. Plus it's close proximity to the Techno Union would make it a valuable trade hub.

I like the idea of Dosuun and Virgilia, proper Imperial heritage and as for the third might as well get Lipsec and use it to bridge off to Skye and Vortusa or off to Vassek,

And just to clear something up Imperator One, due to it being secret, will not appear on the map. As things that appear on the map are often subject to skirmish/attacks.

Imperator One is a strictly secret military base and military production base.

What I suggest is upon Major Application - get Dosuun, Virgilia and Lipsec. Then assign two commanders of two expansion campaigns, have the entire faction move to Dominion RP mode so we have everybody. And begin to offensives - called - Skye Offensive and Vassek Offensive.

And with complete dedication we can make rapid expansion. And gain two shipyards and an industrial base.

[member="Count Morcus"] Thank you for your generosity. I will be certain to have a First Order element about Void Station and would be happy to assist in any means the Duke needs military assistance.

[member="Ricochet"] I'm loving that angle. We push through secure these planets in a domination rush that involves the whole faction. Allow it for individual story lines etc, make the want there. Once we have that solid foundation it is only a short skip south to the GA while maintaining a solid backbone.

I've also just noticed the proximity of Lothal...hmmm I think I'll have to have a word about some RPs with the Jedi Order.
