The Eclipsing Mission
Character
The Wolf-man's head tumbled from his shoulders long before he struck the ground, knees buckling as his momentum carried him several feet before he came to a rest on his back; legs tangled beneath him. Black blood oozed from the stump of his neck, far more viscous than any typical blood coursing through their body. When it touched the ground, it left an inky stain, and when it came into contact with vegetation it consumed it with accelerated rot.
But that was only the beginning.
For a moment, the headless corpse lay there. Then, without warning, the muscles grew taut and rigid, the legs bending back as the torso of the corpse rose up, arms limp at the side. With a snap, the body threw itself forward until its hands shot out to catch itself. The headless corpse arose from where it had fallen, movements erratic and unnatural. It took three steps forward and then bent down to grab hold of it's own severed head with both hands, the helmet still firmly attached.
Reaching up, the corpse re-affixed it's own head back on it's bloodied stump of a neck. After a moment, the wound closed up and both separated segments became whole again. Even still, it was clear the body's movements were strange and slightly uncoordinated as it picked up a gun and continued firing. It would be like this for all of the Wolf-men who were struck a fatal blow, rising again to continue their butchery; even when blown apart the surviving pieces would writhe and wriggle as though living.
