"I could never forget."

The realization hit him like a shot at point blank range as he wasn't really expecting to see Mira ever again in his life, let alone see that she had been apparently living on Ethos City this entire time. His eyes weren't deceiving him like some other occasions, this was truly her and not a fragment of his imagination. There had been moments where Arekk couldn't differentiate right from wrong or real from fake though most of the time booze and anti-depressants were the cause for such effects.

"Here?" He asked her before setting the bags where she wanted them to be, eyes befalling on her weaponry as she brandished them for him to see. It had been a while since he had seen a lightsaber let alone used his own. "Seems you've adapted to the city pretty well."

To say that he didn't appreciate her greatly built athletic frame would be a lie, pearly blue pools fell on her from head to toes almost immediately without any sort of hesitation. He felt bad looking, of course, but couldn't help himself either. Call it a man's instinct or just Arekk being Arekk, whatever you wanted.

"How are you, Mira?"

She set down the jug gently before shrugging. “I’ve had to do what was called for.” Mira gestured towards Ar’ekk. “No different than yourself I’d assume.” She let off a chuckle, a soft one at that before walking around from behind the counter, scooping up a blanket from a table as she moved past him. She’d keep her front side concealed, ensuring he wouldn’t see what was beneath. Perhaps she didn’t want to reveal to him what happened after that night, maybe she hoped that he’d fade away much as he had before. Something in her felt guilty for doing such a thing, but something else – stubbornness perhaps, felt it was the right thing to do.

Mira sat down upon the leather sofa, groaning softly as she covered her slightly saturated being with the blanket. Her hands would move beneath it, attempting to remove the boots from her feet in an attempt to get comfortable.

"How are you, Mira?"

She chuckled at the notion, looking up from her task before gazing down at the blanket with another shrug. “I’ve been worse, I suppose.” And somewhere in her mind, something triggered the words that would follow. “Caring for two isn’t easy.” She winced slightly as they exited her mouth, pausing once more before quickly resuming her task as if nothing off-color was said.

"Not so different. You have to adapt because it's a dog eat dog world."

His body was stuck between the entrance and Mira's place, clearly undecided whether he should either stay inside or part ways like he did before. Walk away was probably the best idea right now, furthermore after what transcurred that night. He wasn't doing her any favors for coming to visit, maybe he had lost his self respect or it was something else. Nevertheless, as she commenced to feel a lot more comfortable in her own home like any other person, Arekk had ultimately decided to take two steps in.

"I bet." The fallen Jedi himself had no idea, of course. Like most things happening around his life he was the most oblivious about or perhaps just didn't want to either see or know. In the land of the blind, the one-eyed man is king. "Why? Your boyfriend's here?"

Amids the chaos, Arekk couldn't help himself but crack awful jokes that were only funny inside his head. He couldn't even exactly see through the bomb revelation that Mira had spewed in his face as clear as the rain on Ethos City, could it be that he didn't even think anything was possible? Maybe she was bluffing or maybe just maybe it was truly her boyfriend?

——————————————————————

Mira smirked at the mention of a boyfriend, shrugging lightly before tilting her head to gaze down the empty hallway. "Maybe..." She looked slyly back towards Ar'ekk. "I think he went out for more groceries, you know that domesticated thing you weren't quite good at." She shot back harshly, gripping the pillow against her bulging stomach. Of course, she didn't hold the snark for long before rolling her eyes, standing up to throw the pillow at the man standing in the door frame, grumbling to herself as she rose to her full height. "You are just impossible - you know?!"

How could he not tell?! Was he this dense?

'Probably.' She mused at the thought, moving away from the couch and back into the kitchen, pulling the produce from the bags as she began to prepare a fresh meal for the evening. "There is no boyfriend, there was only you." She whispered softly as she began to cut a Gashala Green slowly, tilting her head as she delicately cut along the rigid lines. It was an intimate thing, cooking, a soothing feeling for her. She began to think back to the time they spent together and at times she'd go back further - to Fiore. "And before you there was another who was just as special, but I let her down." A sigh echoed through the kitchen as she pulled out some Gundark steaks from the package and began to season them, her crimson gaze flickering back and forth from dish to the man standing there.

"Perhaps it was some sort of karma that this all happened the way it did."

"Hey, wait a minute! What's that supposed to mean?"

Arekk had managed to catch the pillow mid-way Mira's outburst before it hit him on the face, bedazzled at the realization of what was transpiring which only seemed to be kicking in just now into his head. Maybe it wasn't so much about being dense but unable to come into terms with a sudden revelation, of not knowing what was happening since he had left.

He had no idea, in absolute. That terrified him, made him feel disgusted. It wasn't right.

"That buldge on your stomach." His cybernetic index pointed at Mira's bumpy belly while she cut Gashala Green, seemingly releasing her stress by simply cooking. She had always been like that, the thought wanted him to make him giggle but he couldn't due to obvious reasons. "Are-- you... Me... No way."

What's the matter? The Rancor cut your tongue?

——————————————————————

Mira shook her head softly. "I can still see you're a dense as ever, but yes - we're expecting." Despite the normally joyful occasion, her words cut through the air like knives. She sighed softly and picked up a holomag which lay upon the table before her. Crimson gaze scrolling through the text as she continued on. "It isn't something I'm happy about, however, I know that everything happens for a reason..." She trailed off, setting down the mag before standing up slowly, tilting her head to the right a bit. "Just haven't been able to figure out what the reason is for this." Mira motioned before her, hand waving idly. A huff would escape her as she moved away from the living room, back towards the kitchen to continue preparing dinner.

"It is your choice if you want to accept it or not. Whatever it may be." She shrugged slightly. "Although I'm hoping it's a girl - you know, so I can teach her from my own mistakes." Mira cautiously picked up the cutting knife, examining it for a moment, lost in thought. She shook her head softly and resumed cutting the vegetables which she had layed out. Carefully she sliced them horizontally, occasionally looking up at [member="Arekk"] before going back to her duties of prepping the meal. "So, I guess I could ask where you have been all this time - but I'm uncertain I want the answer."

"This... Wow."

Mira's words resonated as loud as a bomb going off and destroying everything in its path, the truth had been unveiled and Arekk couldn't do anything about it except accept the fact it was his blood that was inside her belly. The following minutes were very quiet ones until the silence was broken eventuallly with him trying to wrap around the whole idea in his head.

"But what are you gonna do alone? With the baby?" The fallen Jedi treaded carefully while adressing the matter at hand in an attempt to not make Mira angry or to say somethinng out of line. Tons of future imagined moments came floodinng to his head with images of their child and the future it'd have, the ideal one he couldn't afford to have. "I've been here all this time at my apartment in the Financial District. I stayed but could never contact you again since... You know."

The truth was difficult to swallow.

Mira chuckled softly and rubbed her swollen belly. “She isn’t going anywhere.” Her hand moved back to the prepared veggies, tossing them into a pot, along with the meat. “I mean, atleast if I can say anything about it?” She shrugged softly, continuing to move back and forth through the kitchen, preparing the meal. As Arekk continued on about where he was, Mira sighed and shook her head softly.

“I just don’t know why you seemed distant, cut off.” She gestured idly, looking down at the pot holding the ingredients. “You never came by, you never checked – it's like you just wanted noodles and chill – you know?” She smirked softly and moved away from the kitchen, a hand gliding along the counter as she did so. She seemed very uncaring – atleast in her demeanor to Arekk. She moved around to stand before him, hand gripping the edge of the counter tightly.

“So, is that what the case was? Hit it and quit it?”

"It's a girl, huh?

Part of him liked that but the other refused to accept the truth that was unveiled, most of his plans were going to be truncated if it was truly the case. Mira wasn't going to be alone in this if everything seemed positive but at what extent? Ar'ekk did not know the answer to that or wasn't sure at all about it, only time would tell.

"Things happened, Mira. Lots of things, look at you now too. I don't know." What was done was done and there was nothing either of them could do about it, face the 'consequences' and try to play with the cards you were dealt with. Things could've been done better? Absolutely. "No, it wasn't. But I was not really expecting our first and only meeting to go like that and end like this."

His robotic finger pointed at Mira's obviously swollen belly.

Mira nodded. "Yes, a girl." She gestured slightly. "Among the many things I have to worry about is her ending up meeting someone like you."

She rolled her eyes at the notion, throwing her hands up slightly. "Of course, something always happens, doesn't it?"

Mira stopped, recoiling slightly as he spoke. "You think it wasn't going to end like that? What did you think it was just going to be a-ok and honkey dory?" She brought a hand to her face, grimacing. "Tell me you learned the basics in school, or have seen some type of holo with information on what happens when you have sex!" She groaned loudly, being slightly overdramatic more than normal. With a grunt, she dropped her hand and moved back to the couch, sitting down roughly. "It isn't that she is a mistake, obviously a surprise - but not a mistake." She shook her head viciously, wanting to try to bring some light to the situation.

Reality was - she couldn't find any, besides Arekk being here, now.

"I didn't say she is a mistake. She's not."

Ar'ekk took no insult from Mira's comments as she was more than justified considering how obvious things were right then, as clear as rain even, and she had all the right to be angry at him.

"I thought we had taken the necessary measures that night but I guess we didn't in the heat of the moment." His hazel-blue pools dragged toward the front door as he debated to walk out and never look back or just face the situation like he should. "How do I even know it's mine? We haven't seen each other in a bit, no offense."

The situation was beyond finding its light at all.

"What's important is... Are you gonna be alright with supporting her alone?"

——————————————————————

Mira frowned.

“You’ve become something that I cannot allow her to follow, Ar’ekk.” She gestured to his person as she rose to her full height from the couch. Back and forth, back and forth – it was the way of their conversations. She gestured roughly between them, cutting him off. “There is no doubt it is your child, unless somehow Fiore managed to grow a penis and do this – which at this point, I think might have been a better idea than you.” She glared harshly before moving towards the door of her apartment, hitting the release button, with a hiss it would slide open to expose the outside world.

“I think it’s time you left.” She said bluntly, staring at him only for a moment before turning away to the door.

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean it that way. Mira."

She had all the right to be fuming right now given Arekk's stupidity was transformed into words, somehow singlehandedly saying such an awful thing to Mira without even realizing its implication. He felt awful that he said so but ultimately the slicer himself couldn't do anything about it.

"You never told me about Fiore." Not the moment to reply back, stupid. Arekk began to track back his steps toward the exit as Mira just wanted him out of her home by then and he felt nothing but obliged to comply. "It is."

Before leaving completely, the fallen Jedi stood by the frame of the door and looked at Mira for one last moment.

"I'm sorry for saying that fething ugliness I spewed. Just... give me a call or visit me if you want and if you don't then that's fine too."
