[Podcast] Chaos Galactica Q&A

Alexandra Feanor

The Lady in Silver/Grey Historian
I would ask who has the the most threads or something, but that is impossible to know unless you checked everyone on the site. But you should do a quick thing like that. Like who has the most Rep, who has the most posts (Not counting staffers.) and you know stuff like that. a Sort of awards thing for best death, most posts in a thread not counting dominions and the such, things to make people proud of their work on the site.

In the opinion of this writer, it is of my super-awesome opinion that the Vong are just plain dumb to the Star Wars universe. I understand the need for a new dire enemy to strike at the New Republic since using things from the current universe would just be plain old dumb wouldn't it

And don't get me started on the plot armor- so the Vong are magically immune to the force. Nothing can touch them. That's great, that's a great storyline except that the Force

"The Force is what gives a Jedi his power. It's an energy field created by all living things. It surrounds us and penetrates us. It binds the galaxy together." --Ben to Luke

SERIOUSLY

IT SAYS IT IN THE MOVIE
THEY DID THE ONE THING THAT YOU DON'T DO BECAUSE THEY WANTED SOMETHING BIG AND SCARY, so instead of creating a threat to the galaxy that forced them to unite, all they did was TAKE AWAY THE ONE THING THAT MAKES STAR WARS STAR WARS.

and don't even get me started on the ludacris nature of the Vong anyway. I mean, by god, those novels were great anyway- right? No. The Vong happened to be beating the galaxy magically, because I mean, a galactic civil war wasn't bad enough. I feel like the Vong were a cheap cop-out by the writers to find some big nasty villains instead of creating a villain or faction or something along those lines that were more in line to Star Wars. I am very glad that the EU was canned, due to the sheer mess of it all. The incarnations of it all and the theories on the force and Han and Leia's stupid brat kids were really dumb.

If the new movies have the vong in them I'm gonna puke. Swear to god.

I would like others opinions on this.

What was your question again?

Just one sentence -- so we can understand exactly what you are asking, please.

And folks, the Chaos Galactica Podcast is asking for questions that can truly help the community. Please stick to those types of questions!

But for that we need to have questions in the first place, so please, ask in this thread anything that concerns or troubles you, anything you were confused about or a topic you want us to touch upon.

Of course all of these questions have to be appropriate and stay on the topic of either Star Wars lore or the forum, if they meet those requirements then we'll answer them.
Thanks!

Do you think that the Vong are a good addition to the Star Wars universe and why or why not

Yes. That was the point....to take away the force from the Jedi see how tough they really are. If you say the force makes star wars what it is...then you need to rethink that. Atton Rand proved the force wasn't all that powerful

In a sense, yes.

But it's still a central theme and the thing that stands out the most about Star Wars. Removing the force would be like removing The One Ring from LotR. It'd work but it'd really just be another fantasy book/movie where the heroes kill orcs.

But they never truly removed the force. >_> I mean I'm reading that series now...the force was still a big thing without the Vong Jacen would never have reached oneness with the force, there wouldn't have been a need to even bring back Luke or Mara or Boba Or Han it feels very biased to state that Vongs take away the force in star wars...and a bit ignorant. no offense man. the force binds us all together

to be honest, without the force, Star Wars would have been another nameless and unsuccessful franchise about laser swords and space battles. It may have done well, but certainly the identity and concepts that it provided- not to mention the themes of light and dark, would have meant nothing.

It's not taking away the force from the Jedi- it's the fact that they exist outside the force when the force was clearly said in the movies that it encompasses all living things.

Then you never read the books

Specifically this one

Star Wars Destiny's Way

Verger said they were NOT outside the force

Oh my. None taken, it was my fault for not reading this whole thing properly in the first place.

Anyway, laughs aside, here's a question for you:

Q: What is the podcasts take on the recent temporary closure of the tech and starship sections of the factory?

[member="HK-36"]

I seriously suggest the first guest being [member="Tefka"] and asking him questions such as:

Why was the site created?
Why was the Factory created?
Why were Warring Factions created?

etc.
