Potential Alliance with CIS

I don't. The CIS always ends up trying to get alliances when they realize they are backed into an corner and they don't want to face IC consequences for their actions.

So, nope. Past history shows they tend to flip flop just to save their own skins.

I wholeheartedly agree with this sentiment.

Then we'll take it one step at a time; doesn't mean we need to ally with the CIS to do just that; war.

I say we sit back and see just what will happen in the coming month.

This ^. essentially, if they want it that much they will beg I'm sure ... I may be more supportive then

Trust is good. Control is better.

No alliances ever lasts. It is a matter of convenience - of course we might be the ones to turn on them first. They could be useful. If we can weaken their ties to the Republic all the better. If they have enough to offer Fringe to make it worthwhile that is.

I have spoken to Guy (CIS FA) on skype and he has said that the CIS will be firmer in sticking to it's alliances and that it is now oporating under a council of 7 not just on Guy's whims. As a sign of good faith he said

"In the Eriadu invasion, we have PCs on both sides. We are planning on issuing an order. As we did not officially order anyone into that thread, this will be our official stance on the invasion at this point: any CIS personnel on the OP side is to return to base. And we'll back you until you've got your 10 allies filled."
So are there any questions / concerns / demands you want put to him?

I would like to clear up my position. By no means do i want war with them. I just don't think an alliance suits us as much as it suits them. Its not mutually beneficial as i see it, mostly because they ally with everyone and anyone!

In that case, i would attempt to negotiate them not into an Alliance, but a very strong mutual non-aggression pact with some trade thrown in. Lets go Total Warl Rome terms here ^_^

@[member="Nemene Talith"] - We've got a formal neutrality treaty with them, and good trade relations, reduced tariffs and the like. Pushing for an even stronger NAP is a good thought.

Well, as long as we don't muscle them so hard toward a NAP that they pull a Japan and say "Nope" while Pearl Harboring us, I agree with it. - Dak/Faenrovon

As you say, they are already allied with most of the people we -might- go into battle with. What makes anyone believe that they will value our alliance, over the alliance they already have?
