Pots, Pans and Plows [Stephanie]

"Well that is an interesting answer, not wrong of course, no answers are in the world and certainly not when it comes to the workings of the force through Jedi or Sith for that matter. To me a lightsaber is a paradox, it is many things. A weapon yes, most certainly it is that and those that ignite the saber must be prepared to kill. It is also a symbol of freedom, and an extension of a Jedi. Not just their reach with the arm, but if a Jedi is true, the saber or shield become part of the Jedi, physically as well as spiritually". The bread indeed was good and Grace took her share of it. Old grains that have not encountered any manipulation but as fresh and filled with goodness unequal to any modified stuff.

"The body is your Temple, fill it with goodness not just what you eat but in it's entirety". Once the meal had be partaken, the two girls packed the remaining food and were back atop the cart. They needed to be out of the forest and across the plains to the farm before night fall. There is many dangers on Midvinter that lurk in the shadows of the night and Grace did not wish to learn of them first hand, not today.

"Tell me what skills you have trained yourself with, or learned from others?". If Stephanie is to come with her to the Dawnguard, training starts now.

Steph ate, talked a little and listened to Grace. The warmth of the food and company sustained her in their chilly surroundings. It was a heart little feast, and Steph was more than satisfied having taste and textures again after so long. Porridge and water had been her basic food sources of recent months.

Helping pack up, she frowned in thought a little.

”Hand to hand combat and gymnastics mainly under a splinter cell of the Galactic Republic. Or before it fell. I touched upon what it meant to be a Jedi of course, and volunteerd to be a test subject for an experimental line of super soldiers to fight the Sith.” She sighed. ”It went wrong when we were sold out and only a few of us remain somewhere in hidiing, which is why I came here to try and find myself and start again. I've studied some of the greatest names who stand for the Light in preperation for my duty as a protector of others, but until now that idea is nothing but a dream.”

She climbed into the cart with her furs.

”There are some side effects to the experiment but I've gained a little more strength and dexterity because of it too. Good and bad traits I guess.”

With a smile, Steph looked at Grace.

”Sorry, going on a little there!”

As Stephanie continued to speak of her skills and training and where she had acquired them, Grace's face showed the concern. She did not like the sound of experimental soldiers especially under the authority of the Republic. Ethically, it was not sound and Grace sighed internal that the continued methods of those that only had ambition as purpose. Self serving climb to power, that is what happens with Jedi are connected to politicians. Never should the Jedi Order had been so tightly connected to them, history should have taught them that.

"Do you know where the ones that went into hiding might have gone?", if there are more out there displaced like Stephanie they would need to be looked for, they might not wish to be found however. "It seems you have gone through a lot in your young life Stephanie as it is, and I understand why you are seeking for purpose and yourself. And I hope I can guide you to achieve that and never be afraid to tell me anything".

"As they say, we can turn a negative into a positive and all things that you deem to be bad traits will be your betters". She smiled back and pulled the horse to a stop. They had arrived to the farm where they will purchase the plow. A squeaky door opened from the Valkyri house, and out step one of the tallest man Grace had ever seen, and he was handsome. A flush of heat prickled on his cheek and with unpracticed skill she could not hide her discomfort.

Steph nodded as the cart rolled on at a gentle pace.

”I wish I did, but I don’t. I trust they are all well, or at peace. So long as they were not taken or tortured.” She swallowed back the emotion and closed her eyes. ”There weren’t many of us. Three at the most I think, so I trust in the Force they are safe in where they are.”

It was like talking to herself, reassuring her mind over the incident she wanted to forget.

Grace’s words were a comfort, and she smiled at the care shown as the cart pulled up, looking forward to her next glimpse of this world. And she got a glimpse alright from a giant who greeted them.

With a curious eye, Steph looked at the man, and then at Grace. It seemed Grace was – what was the word – attracted to the man who appeared to be at home with nature and the way of the land.

She looked from one to the other, and offered a kind smile and nod of the head, and jabbed Grace on the arm with her elbow as she did.

The jab by the elbow from Stephanie brought Grace back to the here and now. It is not often she sees the likes of such men in her life, and she assumed she would again, but Grace is a red blooded woman and does not rid herself of emotions or feelings, those days of the Jedi are passed .. for the better. However, she flushed more at being caught out.

"Come on .. it would be rude of us to keep him waiting". Grace jumped down from the cart and approached the half naked man with a smile. By the looks of things he had been hard at work at the anvil, and his chest covered in grim and sweat would tell the tail of it. However, his eyes did not find that of Grace but rather her padawan and with lingering gaze he took her in from head to toe.

"You must be the woman I was told would come". Thyrian had organised through the grand hall and his many helpers for the plow to be obtained for Grace. He wiped his hands on an equally dirty rag before offering it to shake and Grace obliged, regardless. "The eve is drawing near and it is dangerous in these parts. It would be best if you both stayed the night .. and it would be my pleasure to entertain you both". There was a glint in his eyes, mischief to be told there which she did not miss.

"Yes we have come from Thainbroek and would gladly accept your hospitality for the night". And come the morning he would help with loading the plow, not that the girls needed it, after all they had the force. However, it is not practice to use the force in front of the Valkyri unless they are aware of it.

"My name is Lorens .. come sup with me", he turned with a smile and walked back to his house.
