Noah had done his research before the meeting and had know about the 'Common Soldier Corps' bill that had been passed by the Alliance Senate, it was the spark that had even made him think about approaching Alderaan's senator. He hadn't expected to get any more leeway in the way of autonomy than the bill gave them already but he was always one for pushing the envelope as far as he could physically and mentally manage.

He shrugged at the words that Alicio Organa Alicio Organa spoke about how close they would be to the Alliance military. "Fair enough, I didn't expect to be able to get full autonomy but what you've described should be good enough."

After speaking Noah began to think on how he could bring up his next stipulation without seeming like too much of a war profiteer, since he technically was but didn't want it to seem like he was overly concerned with that portion of his life. "Lastly...I want my company, Hekler'Kok Defense Industries to have first bids on supplying the equipment for the Defense Force..."

It was a good thing that Noah hadn't expected full autonomy. If Alderaan were completely independent, perhaps that could have been an option, but as long as they existed within the Alliance, they would abide by it's rules. Other members may... skirt around what is legal, and what is not, but the Heart of the Alliance would maintain the letter of the law, as long as Alicio had something to say about it.

"Lastly...I want my company, Hekler'Kok Defense Industries to have first bids on supplying the equipment for the Defense Force..."

"Using the necessity for war as an excuse to expand your business, are we?" Alicio turned the softest smirk Noah's way, though his words did have a bit of nipping frost to them. Alicio's eyes, as light as they were, hid a thoughtful intensity.

"Why?"

Noah let Alicio's question of why linger in the air for a little bit, staring up at the painting, a specter of what rampant overdevelopment of a military industrial complex could do to a government. This was however not Noah's intention in the slightest because while he was indeed a Mandalorian he always knew that was indeed such a thing as overkill.

He shrugged at the words finally before giving a small shake of his head. "If I wanted to use the war to profit I would have shot passed planetary defense force and went directly to the Alliance military command, I know quite a few people in that command in fact." He turned towards Alicio now to speak directly to him. "No, I asked because if I will be leading this force I want to know the equipment they get will be up to my standards and add to that the fact that my company is headquartered out of Alderaan which gives the force a little more independence."

"The GADF has a plethora of options. Alderaan has... less," Alicio countered. Did he actually think Noah would use the position to get rich? No, he didn't. From he'd heard from Amani, he was one of the good ones. One could learn a lot about someone from the way they responded to an accusation, and Alicio didn't doubt the Mandalorian had good intentions.

Yes, Alicio Organa was a young man. But he was young man tempered by mistakes and experience. One could never be to careful, with the innocent of the galaxy at stake.

"I understand. That makes sense." Alicio dipped his head, weight behind the motion. "Hekler'Kok will have first pickings, but I do expect there to be a discount. I will be... cross, if you end up buying marked-up gear from yourself, Mr. Corek." His shadowy smile revealed he was joking, if only a little.

"If that is all, I can start drafting the proposal to the Houses now." Already, his hand was inching towards his datapad, but he kept the stray appendage in line for now. "And... if you truly do not wish to lead, I can start the process to find someone."

"But I do think it should be you. For the sake of the people this force will defend."

"The GADF has a plethora of options. Alderaan has... less,"
A snort escape Noah's nose at what he considered to be a vast understatement. The GADF had the full throated support of the Alliance it defended and this meant dozens of worlds with dozens of different companies and individuals that were vying to lend their expertise and products to the Defense Force.

When the matter of price gouging was brought up a snort was dragged from him yet again before a smile graced his features. "Oh don't worry I've already got protocols in places for operations like this. Any gear the defense forces buys from my company will be simply at cost plus two and a half percent. While I am the majority shareholder, I've still for a few partners in the company that need satisfying."

As the prospect of leading the force came up again Noah scratched the back of his neck before speaking after a few moments of silence. "I'll join as the interim commander for now. I'll get organizational, logistical and doctrinal matters handled and see how the force is shaping up and from there I'll decide if I want to come on full time or stay in a support role. If the latter I've got a few candidates that I have in mind as well."

At price, plus a few pennies on the dime, would do for Alicio. He nodded his consent, adjusting his coat, more out of habit than function.

Finally, Alicio's shadowy smile returned as Noah affirmed his position. "Thank you, Mr. Corek." No other platitudes need be said.

"Send me some specifics on price when you get the chance, so I can use them in my address to the Great Houses." Hopefully, the relationships he'd built with the Alderaanian nobility over the years would pay off.

Then, the Count's faint smirk strengthened.
"And also thank you for my most productive meeting in some time. It's amazing what can happen when both parties have the same priorities and goals in mind." A rarity in Senator Organa's profession.
