Strengths:
- Solar Sails: Able to harness the energies and solar winds of space for locomotion the sails enable the vessel to forgo the fuel or electrical systems needed to power and regulate traditional engines.
- Magnet Blind: Exterior materials used for the vessel are non-magnetic causing weapons and devices that rely on magnetism for tracking, detonation, or locking to be ineffective.
- Tight Turns: This vessel's intended purpose requires finesse, and this vessel is in no short supply of it. This craft can make tighter turns than most starfighters although at no great speed.
- Pacifist: Unarmed to lower gravitational signature making it more difficult to be detected or locked onto by devices that require a gravitational signature to be effective.
Weaknesses:
- Solar Sails: The sails themselves are conspicuous targets as well as relatively easy to hit in comparison to traditional engines. In addition to this the sails are easily damaged by weaponry.
- Fragile: The vessel was designed to preform a delicate task and is a very specialized instrument. The ship was not designed to fight other spacecraft.
- Cruiser not Sprinter: Solar Sails like their ancient predecessors - Wind Sails - are outclassed by their mechanical counterparts in terms of sheer speed and acceleration.

Description: An elegant bronze hulled starship with a slight profile and overall shaped much like a tear drop with a rounded bow. The Preserver is host to four solar sails hidden in four compartments. Two of the compartments are located on the top of the Preserver while their counterparts are located directly beneath them on the bottom of the vessel. These compartments are located near the edges of the Preserver on the port and starboard side. The sails are deployed when the long coverings extend from the body of the Preserver like sets of wings which unfurl quickly into leaf shaped lengths of Agrinium sail, each sail can independently adjust in 360 degrees of rotational movement. At the aft of the starship is a singular opening for the only non-sail related mode of locomotion, the hyperdrive. At the bow of the ship, near the apex of the bow's curved face, is a pair of tractor beam emitters with 180 degrees of motion vertically and 45 degrees of motion horizontally. These are used to manipulate mines at distance without detonating them, and to "throw" mines in directions beneficial to the fleet the Preserver is attached to (normally into open space, moons, asteroid belts, etc). The Preserver requires three crew members to operate effectively: Pilot, Tractor Beam operator, and Navigator who doubles as a Communication officer.
