- Interdictor: The Preventor II is equipped with a series of powerful and well-defended Gravity Well Projectors, allowing the battlecruiser to interdict the space around half of a planet to prevent hasty escapes and pull ships out of hyperspace into the waiting maw of the Preventor II's cannons and its supporting fleet.
- Carrier: Dorsal and Ventral hangar bays allow for a large number of starfighters to be contained within the Preventor II's belly. Around sixteen starfighter squadrons of varying size can be launched to attack any aggressor vessels or trespassing ships at the whim of the battlecruiser's commander.
- Weak Offensively: Designed to guard, rather than to attack, the Preventor II has little in the way of dedicated offensive weaponry and instead relies on support ships and starfighters to fight against enemy vessels.
- Low Speed: The ion engines on the Preventor II are noticeably weak, and seem to barely propel the warship through the empty void of space. This is primarily due to the fact that the Preventor II was not made to chase other ships down or engage in fleet-to-fleet combat, but rather hold position over planets blockaded by the Sith Empire.
Designed after the prototype Preventor battlecruiser, the Iron Halo, the second series of these interdictor cruisers were virtually identical to the original model save for several reductions to make wider production economically feasible for the Sith Empire.
Deflector shields became the mainstay defense for the Preventor IIs, with additional interior space re-prioritized for crew cabins and vehicle garages as the Preventor II's role was expanded to also include planetary invasion and as a means by which the Empire could maintain an orbital hold even if a planet had managed to overrun or destroy their ground garrisons.
Yet above all else, the Preventor IIs still possessed the debilitating ability to pull enemy ships out of hyperspace and keep them from escaping, a crucial aspect of any planetary blockade.
