Princess betrothal

Two Jedi in love, one of them was a genius that regarded herself as more than simply being a "girl with a brain". Enter Summer, a Jedi Ace. For five years, they have known each other, they shopped together, they were grateful for each other, especially one-eyed Summer who appreciated that Jessica loved her for who she was. No major conflicts ever erupted between them, and what minor kerkuffles happened between them were solved pretty swiftly. Summer liked people with minds of their own, but Jessica was just... brilliant. She was about to propose to that very woman that first suggested that she knew too much about space magic not to be able to use it. To Jessica, titles didn't matter as far as romance was concerned: Summer could have been a commoner and still love her. Yet what she doesn't know, is that Jessica never really stopped and think about how will her life change if she became married. Because it's not a decision to be made lightly.

"Remember, love. You know why we are still together for so long. It's not just because I'm smart, non-judgmental, although I know you're grateful for me about that"

"Its because we love each other and no one can break the bonds of love." A lot had changed in the past 5 years for she had started her jedi training and the two lovers had grown closer together as the time went and now they were pretty much together all the time and Summer loved that so much

They were together more often than at their relationship's onset, that much was true. But Jessica had a more hectic career than Summer did, although Summer did take on some odd missions of fighter piloting for hire. She was a royal that actually did something. For Jessica it was important that a lover loved her for what she was. Geniuses often had trouble finding proper love interests because most people were much more shallow than they were. Summer had that impression by now that Jessica was a rare breed of genius of which only a few existed galaxy-wide. Other people who thought that they were able to match Jessica were, more often than not, too one-dimensional. Even that dark-sider who had a good breadth of knowledge, was almost as if Jessica was brought back to her pre-Kuat self. More frequent roadblocks, but still highly intelligent, at a level where common people usually thought a highly intelligent person was to be.

"You know, for most people, love bonds are much more fickle than for us. They break up because their finances flounder, they break up because they lie to each other, they break up out of jealousy, that sort of thing. Between us Jedi, there is nothing that can be hidden between us, there is nothing to be jealous about each other"

"Am I really more computer than person? You know I am a genius and you love me in part for that reason. But when my master insinuates this, it throws me off balance"

A brand-new droid or other device equipped with Hammurabi, or some other AI, would be non-judgmental all right, would be much like her if you consider only that aspect. She was that one person holding that peculiar title called Imperial Mascot on Geonosis because she symbolized several attributes that were endearing to Geonosians and other Techno Empire constituents: sophistication, technical expertise, logic. Her pre-Kuat self was certainly a bright person, but only bordering on unnaturally intelligent - by now it is clear that she is one of those geniuses especially after designing these items all by herself, or almost so, in chronological order: a cutting-edge AI, a heavy, long-range hypervelocity cannon, a waste heat recovery device, a machinegun that uses railgun technology, a battlecruiser engine. She only began to realize just how many spells she could actually learn to use based almost entirely on her knowledge of how space magic acts on a power's target.

"Oh yes, are there people you dislike, or even hate outright?"

For some reason Jessica kept a grudge against that very Jedi Healer over design decisions regarding a 3000-meter hospital ship called Triage-class. It was in that meeting, convened by Sasori Research, where she learned of her Force-sensitivity. Their bone of contention was point-defense. (She had seen multiple Jedi healers before getting a definite answer) wanted it to be devoid of weapons, whereas Jessica wanted 65 quad lasers, in which case it would make sense to split armament ratings into anti-capital and anti-starfighter for regulatory purposes (0 and 4 respectively). Nevertheless, she netted rights to use an item called a ship-wide neural net on that ship, for Ringovinda Systems. Needless to say, she wouldn't get along with Jessica for starship design and she would probably have suffered a similar fate at Ringovinda StarYards as Jessica was at Kuat Drive Yards about six or seven years ago. That is, fired over engineering disputes.

"Or stuff you dislike about people you otherwise like? I mean, other than pettiness, shallowness, or using space magic without understanding what it does on its target"

"Enough of what people you dislike or what you dislike in people. I have shown what my human aspect truly is about, what respecting someone for what that person is, truly means, perhaps like no one else could"

Most Jedi would at least give somebody a chance so long as they aren't dark-siders. Even so, that doesn't prevent Jedi from holding grudges against each other. However, such grudges stem from at least one of these: 1) related to dark-siders, 2) disagreements over field methods/conduct of missions or 3) interpretation of Jedi doctrine. They were still sentients after all. Those more likely to hold grudges are people who were brought in as Jedi at later ages. She readily accepts that her intelligence came at a cost by now. And not just in terms of social interactions, or being constantly used as a space magic reagent for people using Force-comprehension or Memory Enhancement. But she had a near-Wookiee morphology so that made her, well, not too endearing to most humans/Near-Humans. So she was very, very lucky to get a lover like that one.

"By now you understand that it takes an encounter with someone with serious flaws to truly understand what people are. I can make you feel normal in many ways: unlocking your access to love, not make you feel too tall, to name a few"

A few hours later, the couple was in their dining room on Ringo Vinda, where they were located since that whole conversation began. Even though a referendum was called on that planet for whether it should leave Silver Jedi jurisdiction or not, that topic did not faze them because they were Silver Jedi. They had to tread carefully out there in that region called Tiplar Dunes, where that property Jessica owned was located. Many anti-Jedi lived there, but Jessica was that one Jedi that many a Jedi-hater on this world had at least a grudging respect for. She actually seemed rather content to take a backseat in that political issue: while being a SJ world saved it from Mandalorian attack five years ago, today its location was a source of dispute. While Summer was seated in that dining room that could seat 12, but for that occasion, only had a two-seater table in it at its center, Jessica used her rather limited Force skills on lifting that three-candle chandelier with candles fitted on it, and, later, uses pyrokinesis to light their wicks.

"Dinner will arrive soon, love!"

She was still in her early stages of training. That's why she feels she had to reach for a cup of tea or caf. For this reason, she still held way more knowledge about how Force-powers work than she had power to act upon her knowledge. Highly scientific as an approach, it required immense brainpower from a Force-user to implement. Only Cathul and her were contemporary practitioners; historically Hart Daele was a proponent of such an approach. For her it seemed that drawing a line at a level where people were used as Force-computers for Force-comprehension or Memory Enhancement would be where such an approach would become feasible for all powers. As much as her childhood blood test returned a negative result due to her falling into a grey area, in Jessica's mind, that one person to whom she compared everybody, intelligence-wise, was a comparison basis not so much based on a FU average, but based on their ability to be used as a Force-computer. That person fell in a grey area where they could become used as such with a little more intellect, but did not quite had that ability except perhaps in an area of expertise. Here came that all-in-one droid with a comlink to that automated kitchen unit.

"What would you like for caf? Espresso, mocha, latte, cappuccino, black? iced or not? Creams, sugars?" Brianna, who was Jessica's all-in-one droid, asked.

"Iced caramel latte, 3 creams and sugars"

[member="Summer Sovereign"]

While Jessica's iced caramel latte was on its way, Summer reached for her hands on that surface large enough to serve as a table for two. Oh, soft hands, made soft by proper Force use. Her brain was mostly de-powered but part of its activity remained to process her subconscious functions. She was used to operate at a higher level of mental activity almost every time she was awake. She was more serene than she ever was since they met each other on Dulvoyinn's beaches. Brianna returned with a tray containing two plates of tonight's meal: pad thai with a pinch of Vor'cha spices, alongside said iced caramel latte that they could drink together. But what she doesn't suspect is that candles' wicks have a finite lifetime: once their lifespans end, she can use electric judgment to light up these fluocompact bulbs so that their romantic night could continue with some source of lighting. But recharging a lightsaber, lighting up a few fluocompact bulbs or recharging a blaster powerpack was as far as her power level could take her at that stage.

"Since there is only two of us here, I feel that too many courses would spoil what we enjoy. Therefore we will have a main course and a dessert tonight"

[member="Summer Sovereign"]

"Our meal is heavenly, too, and add to tonight's meal that chandelier with three candles on it"

There was only one Jedi Jessica knew from historical records on Voss that was actually capable of these intellectual feats Jessica could do, maybe two. She didn't comb them in-depth, though. Hart Daele she knows for sure, but she's unsure as to Kazdan Paratus. Perhaps Jessica is to starship components what Kazdan was to droids. Most Jedi tended to fall within a very similar intellectual curve to populations in general; as with many psychometric measurements, IQ might be flawed on an individual basis, but on a population-wide basis it works. Nevertheless, etiquette wasn't her forte: she knew that marrying Summer would make her a princess, if that was to happen (and its likelihood was high enough not to rule that out), and yet, made comparatively little effort to learn etiquette. May as well get started now, she thought. Clearly Jessica ate faster due to her near-Wookiee morphology: she had a Wookiee's body, she ate like one. After all, for all nutritional and clothing considerations, she was, for all intents and purposes, considered as a Wookiee.

As they finished eating their main course, Jessica wondered when will dessert arrive. It might be a little late but they have to enjoy what time they had together. Summer found it heavenly, and it was not just about food. Jessica was not a sucker for those romantic events many people, especially on planets like Alderaan and Naboo (non-Gungans more so than Gungans, though), seemed to crave. Yet she knew a long-term romantic relationship like what she lives with Summer wouldn't be complete without one. Then again, Jedi aren't exactly known for their romanticism, and, despite that, many found Jedi lifestyle to be romantic. For some being able to use space magic in general is a romantic thing. For others, only some aspects of Jedi lifestyle were given that treatment. For yet more people, life as a genius was idealized beyond romanticism. But Jessica was living it in full. By now it was painfully obvious that Jessica was as nothing when compared to her peers when it comes to romance - she had two things people find romantic in her lifestyle but she had little idea as to how to actually make it romantic.

"How romantic do you find tonight's dinner?"
