Privateers & Irregulars

"We don’t fly under banners, and we sure as hell don’t take orders like soldiers. But when the credits are right, or the cause is worth dying for, we get the job done." — Captain Dax “Fox” Renlo, Smuggler & Blockade Runner

No Rules, Just Results.
The Privateers & Irregular Forces branch represents the wild card in the Foundation’s military. Unlike the structured, disciplined forces of the Foundation's main military arms, this branch is home to smugglers, mercenaries, bounty hunters, and other independent operators who fight for reasons beyond duty. Some are in it for credits, others for personal revenge, and many simply because they despise the enemy.

These individuals are not bound by military regulations, but their resourcefulness, adaptability, and willingness to get their hands dirty make them a crucial part of the war effort. Whether it's smuggling vital supplies through blockades, running sabotage operations deep behind enemy lines, or deploying small strike teams on high-risk missions, the Privateers & Irregular Forces play a role no conventional military could.

  • Smugglers & Blockade Runners – Using modified freighters and nimble starfighters, these pilots ensure that the Foundation’s forces are supplied even in enemy-controlled space.
  • Mercenaries & Bounty Hunters: Hardened warriors with no allegiance to a formal government, they take on high-risk jobs that traditional forces cannot, including assassinations, raids, and extractions.
  • Pirates & Raiders: Some pirate crews, disillusioned with the Empire’s rule, have turned their skills to striking enemy supply lines and disrupting logistics chains.
  • Slicers & Info-Brokers: Cyber warfare specialists who infiltrate enemy systems, steal data, and spread disinformation to keep the opposition off balance.
Privateers & Irregulars provide the unpredictable, cunning edge that conventional troops cannot replicate, and they fill a variety of roles within the Foundation:
  • Supply Chain Disruption: Smugglers, pirates, and mercenaries work together to raid enemy convoys, steal resources, and keep the Foundation stocked.
  • Unconventional Warfare: These forces engage in guerrilla tactics, sabotage, and rapid-strike missions that keep enemy forces on the defensive.
  • Covert Operations & Assassinations: Unlike the Foundation’s regular military, which adheres to codes of conduct, these operatives handle missions that require deniability and no moral constraints.
  • Independent Contractors: The Foundation may not always have the forces to complete every mission—when necessary, it hires out jobs to those who are willing to take them.
  • Disrupting Enemy Propaganda: Through slicers and underworld contacts, this branch ensures that information warfare is fought just as effectively as battlefield engagements.
