STRENGTHS
- Second skin: The PD-00 is quite literally a second skin. It's meant to blend perfectly with the wearer's skin, perfectly matching both the tone and texture. It's paper thin, fitting easily under clothes, and is near impossible to detect by sensors or distinguish from real skin.
- Perfect Disguise: The skin replication technology isn't just limited to disguising the armor itself; it can be used to change the appearance of the user down to the texture. By creating a new set of skin beforehand, the wearer can use it as a disguise, replicating texture and even adding small things such as scars, burn marks, tattoos, birthmarks, or other things. If connected to smart technology of some sort, they can be changed to a set skin on the fly with just a few moments.
- Small Arms Defense: A thin layer of kinetic absorptive gel and armorweave allows the second skin to be an excellent defense against low-caliber weapons.
WEAKNESSES
- Headless: The Second Skin doesn't offer any protection of the face or head. This can be detrimental to disguises in many cases.
- Pre-load: Making a new set of skin on the fly is generally a non-option. Having multiple backup sets is recommended, but without them the user can often be exposed.
- Body Shape: The armor is incapable of changing larger, more general features of a person. One’s body shape, height, and weight cannot be changed by the armor. Racial features often stand out, thus it is recommended that one keeps their disguises limited to their own species.
- Ever heard of dodging?: Against any meaningful attacks from heavier weapons, the defense of the suit usually crumbles. Ion weaponry can disrupt the skin replication systems, and lightsabers are able to easily cut through the thin armor.
- Nature Calls: Diaper or you get naked in the stall. Your choice.
DESCRIPTION
With the destruction of an entire Ministry of Secrets sleeve that held the technology of their previous catsuit armor, the PD-00 "Second Skin" light armor is the latest technological advancement offered by the Ministry. Aimed to provide the Confederacy's birds with an additional layer of safety and protection, the Second Skin incorporates special blends of armorweave with nanites to ensure that not only will its wearers be kept safe from many different forms of harm, but their protection would also appear as true skin, thus making it less noticeable for potential enemies to notice and target.
The work of a bird more often than not includes keeping disguises and glamour up, and as such, this armor is not designed to be able to withstand heavy damage. The lightness of the armor is made specifically in mind for those who need to move fast, run fast, and hide. The full-body coverage can present some problems, though -- going to the washroom isn’t as easy in a onesie. Even so, the Second Skin/PD-00 provides its wearer with the perfect disguise, able to not only look like skin, but also take on damaged skin texture to ensure perfect camouflage, all the while protecting the wearer from blaster and kinetic damage.
