Project Oculus

Panacea was rapidly expanding under the tenure of Ciana as CEO, and now she looked to move into Silver space to begin work with the conglomerate Sasori. The companies and its hosts of subsidiaries worked on technologies that involved methods of the occult, which was right up the alley of the Kiribian biotech firm. With Panacea's experience with alchemy, it would be advantageous for the two companies to begin collaboration.

The first of such collaborations was to be on the Oculus Project, creating a new scanner for more effective detection of Force Sensitives. In her initial review of some of the schematics provided by Sasori, she found the device incapable detecting them while masking their presence in the Force. She had some solutions to overcome that, boosting the detection range and sensitivity of the device to overcome these stealth techniques.

The headquarters of Sasori was supposed to be mobile, but she felt more comfortable meeting with Sasori representatives at one of their planetary fronts. She chose to meet on
Shri-Tal, right in the core of Silver space. It was secure, and she had some interest in setting up facilities there. The whole system was rich in resources and biomass that Panacea could use to advance its own developments.

After taking a few days to establish arrangements for the meeting, she traveled to the system by sleek a Nubian yacht under a light guard of her own security detail from Panacea. They were the cream of the crop, recruited directly from OSI (Office of Strategic Intelligence) and the presidential guard. They accompanied
her in plainclothes, but they bristled with advanced armor and high-tech weaponry underneath their well-tailored suits and dresses.

Planetside, she felt a bit of a strain on her body, with the gravity being higher than it was on
Kiribi. At over 1.85 meters, the Atrisian-Echani hybrid towered over many of the locals she came across, height partially stunted by their environment. Moving through the streets outside of her convoy, she could hear Atrisian as the dominant language of the crowds. She could pick up some words and phrases here and there, but the dialect was very different from what she was used to on
Kiribi, so she had some difficulty taking in everything.

Shri-Tal was a great place, the surface of the world looked ideal compared to many others but it was below in the honeycomb network of tunnels, chambers, homes, entire cities that spiraled throughout the world that it became amazing and on the surface, to the large moons there was the cities while Matsu liked the meeting in the business district of the Imperial city. All circling around the massive silver and ivory tower that went upwards from several levels below the ground in one of the larger chambers to a point there you could look out over the world. Sasori's office here was filed away with several of the other ones but it had a larger area under the ground while she was walking to meet Ciana.

While she was walking throughout everything there in the building some of the other projects they had been working on came out for people to see. Some of the ideas for new medical tech like the biorestorative crystal weave that could keep the body healthy and give lasting healing effects while in the field. The humanoid biot project they had retrieved from the bubble of the lost facility and were working on replicating with some of the bigger things. They had made contracts for the advanced older model Vong Hunter droids that were humanoid looking enough before she clasped her hands behind her back. Other works on force enhanced technology like the watchmen scouter she was getting the woman's aid with today.

"Welcome to Shri-Tal." Matsu said it while walking to meet the woman with a small smile as the surface was ideal and the weather nice. The many different species that had been attracted to the world coming to see it and provide commerce making it for most a large economic jewel in the outer rim worlds of the galaxy. Access to the invisible market where they could get pretty much anything that might be needed and the constant flow of different resources through the miners guild provided a great deal of coverage for working on projects when Matsu stood there in the street wearing one of their other projects. The meshed synthweave robe that looked normal except could block lightsaber blades.

"Thank you for entertaining me."

She offered a slight nod of her head, a Kiribian style of greeting between equals. Thankfully, the other woman addressed her in Basic. She definitely would have struggled to hold a conversation in
Atrisian.

"Lovely planet, aside from the gravity, it almost feels like I never left home."

All around her, she could see signs of an advanced race, integrated technological solutions powering all sorts of marvelous effects. Through the Force, the alchemist
could feel energy emanating from the very foundations of the building structures. It wasn't unlike the sensation experienced with a well tuned Force Crystal.

"I personally reviewed the schematics sent over to my office by
Sasori, and came up with some solutions with my team that may please you. Once we're settled, I will present you with my findings. There's some other projects I like to discuss with you as well. I hear Sasori is heavily involved in the field of biots."

"We are experimenting with them to learn, some of our recent discoveries have shown new methods." Then there was the work they had done with the Aing-Tii for their biotechnology or Zenoma's biotech when it came to some of their things. The hyperdrives they could work on and set up wrere one thing as well as a way to prolong living in ships while exploring, terraforming planets to heal them and or make new habital worlds that can develop. Matsu motioned for her to come along and follow with her while going in the walls and plating were very different. The gravity plating they had been experimenting with to better improve it as variable gravity settings allowed them to lessen the natural gravity in their own facility.

"The gravity can be different for some people but we have been working with other things, anti force stealth and variable gravity plating for training as well as ways to better incorporate some systems." Matsu was moving through the building that displayed the different armors and equipment for the people to see with a nice breeze of circulating air before some of the other jedi researchers and workers were using the Human Replica Droids to wear and test out the different armors so it could be on display with a smile. "We have a number of projects going on since we have expanded, the colonization ships we have developed are giving people a chance now to go out and explore the worlds."

The back of the buiolding showed lifts going down into the main chamber as rooms were off to the sides and a few others were working with things. The hardlight display of their AI Quiet was there working with some of the things presented. "We have also been working with more of the crystals to develop a better and far stronger weave that will recoil darksiders making them feel sick so that they cannot just try and steal technology." That was something she had been glad to work with while providing new ideas to the other engineers, one of the watchmen moving around as the woman wore the crystal scouter working with it to detect different artifacts and people.

Ciana nodded along to Matsu's words as she followed, glancing around at various Sasori products on display. She didn't recognize the construct for what it was, thinking it was just another employee inside the building. That was perhaps a testament to the effectiveness of the system.

"This synthetic weave, how do you treat it to achieve that effect?"

"Very very well, we have spent a large number of resources on it producing the materials and finding ways to create wintrium with our converters. Using the raw material and current we can change the matter into what we need and have a supply or it that few others can match in the galaxy. It also makes it more effective as the longer it is around, the more age that comes with it grants increased levels of power and ability as opposed to to the normal methods where it becomes weaker." Heading into the main lab there was also one of Sasori's methods and bread and butter, custom sabers for different jedi as they were making them with all the special fixings, waterproof casing, circuits that wouldn't react to cortosis, power cells that were longer lasting with more energy and biometric trap grips that only responded to those programmed into it.

"I'd be very interested in having Sasori share its techniques for the imbuement process. A limited form of alchemy is practiced on a mass scale on Kiribi, but we're always looking to increase our efficiency."

She took some time to glance over the developments made by Sasori on
the scouter. The gist of the system appeared to be a digitized compass module, imbued with the Force to allow such detection. It looked to be based off a more primitive mechanical tool of pure Sith alchemy. This solution looked to be superior to the classic Force detector, though it seemed to be vulnerable to the same issue that plagued other such detectors - Force users masking their presence. Much like a jamming device fooling a receiver with false signals, an adept Force User could do the same. She aimed to defeat such measures with a more conventional compliment to Sasori's module.

"Here's what I have to add to your current development at this time. A new type of bio-scanner that utilizes full spectrum quantum transceiver for ultra high-resolution scans of bioelectric signatures and brain waves. Through some testing in a closed study,
Panacea discovered the differences in the bio-electromagnetic fields produced by Force Sensitives and Non-Force Sensitives. This included brain waves, which are also just electromagnetic waves at a certain frequency. Generally, emissions seemed to be stronger among Force Sensitives when compared to their regular counterparts. With follow-up research, we were able to detect some specific patterns in the emission and begin developing an algorithm for detection."

She shared files of results with Sasori's mainframe to allow them to be displayed on the inbuilt sensor, providing a graphical representation of her findings.

"It's not exactly clear what causes the difference, but we believe it may have to do with the
abnormally high concentration of Midiclorians present within the cells of Force Sensitives. Perhaps emitting a signal of their own. This is going to require much more research, but, for now, it seems the system works."

"What I'm thinking is that we could combine modules from our respective projects into one system to detect a Force User across the spectrum. Your detection system is good in most cases, but mine will function even if they're
masking themselves the Force, as it relies on a different range of emissions for detection. It could be defeated by a conventional jamming suite, but I think you'd be hard pressed to find a Force User cloaking themselves so completely - it would leave them 'blind' so to speak."

"The only hitch on my end is that I'll require a much larger sampling pool to refine the algorithm for improved detection rates."

Matsu was looking at her and well they did have something that could help for alchemy, working on it and providing a number of new ideas that the jedi could use. The lifeblood project was made for the species that in the galaxy had developed the skills of alchemy but they were not exactly sith. The rest of it though was for their systems here, the small computer that they would be able to work with with the display of the crystal itself. it wasn't going to be perfect she knew that but if they did it correctly the small thin layer would be able to read and give information once it fully learned everything. She was looking at the information privded by the girl and that was helpful in this case. If they were able to read signtures as such it would combine the tech parts and the force parts better then she had dreamed.

"I like it and there is much that we should be able to do with the duel screens, the mini computer that they have been working on to see it." She stayed there working on more of the things, they had the twin screens of crystal and the small OLED display that they would be able to work with. Matsu was going over with some of the ideas before she spoke more. "The korriban compass we discovered served a very strict purpose but we were never able to find more of them to really experiment with. So there might be some limitations that are set into it that the technology aspect can fix or enhance." She held the scouter up testing how it compacted up for use and to be held in the pocket. THe foldable sections when she was looking at the mini computer and information on the mini computer with the upgrades to what they were doing.

The compass. While she had the blueprints and write-ups about Sasori's scanner, she really didn't know anything about the piece of Sith alchemy from where Matsu's designed was derived. It bothered her not understanding the mechanics of the device in its entirety. That would not do.

"If I may, I would like to take some time to study the compass for myself. If I had some better understanding
what I was dealing with, then I could better help you overcome the shortcomings of your scanner. I think the data gathered from the scanning that's been done with Panacea's device could also be applied to the software running yours."

Matsu looked at her and she moved with a nod of her head to provide her with a few ideas. The small case she had was packed and protected with nullification resin when she was moving to give a small nod of her head. She opened it up as the compass could be seen and felt with the force once it wasn't behind the nullification resin case. Providing a few things for the girl wot work with and see. "Here you go." She hadn't really tried to take it apart, destroying the compass was not something she would want to do and risk its enhancement. Before she went to look at the scanner and the small computer that she had when she started working the scanner that was imposed on it and tracking the force signatures around her seeing the jedi.

"Thank you," she said, gingerly cupping the compass in her hands, already feeling the dark taint on the compass as it was freed from the confines of the resin enclosure. She wasn't bothered by it in the slightest. The woman accepted all elements of the Force in its totality.

Matsu left to do some work in the scanner, leaving Ciana alone to study the compass for a while. She closed both hands around the crude device, reaching out in the Force to connect with the device on an ethereal level. The alchemitized metal and glass of the construction was imbued with a faint residue of auras from its previous holders, some stronger than others depending on the intensity of their experiences with the device. The strongest by far being the creator of the compass, having poured their very spirit the device at the time of its inception.

She homed in on this particular aura, retreading each infusion and beat to the materials. From the glass cover, to the body, to each charged arrow of the compass. The arrows had their own little story, signatures of past targets saved. The exact details were hard to discern, as the compass itself lacked the ability to make out its targets with any level of detail aside from their power in the Force. This was the exact reason why she had began constructing an algorithim for more precise tracking with a digital device.

In tuned with the compass, she decided to give it a try for herself. Matsu showed up fairly easily being so close, but beyond that, the concentration of so many Force sensitives and items in one place made it hard to pick any individual thing out. The arrows were constantly turning as they were attracted to many different things. However, in time she found that if she worked through the compass like an attenna of sorts, she had an easier time parsing objects. She didn't know if this was how the compass was meant to be used, but it gave her an idea none the less.

This whole process unfolded over the course of several hours, sense of time lost for the alchemist as she gave the device her entire focus. Within the relative safety of Sasori's headquarters, she had felt comfortable enough to do so.

Done for now, she set the compass back in its case and closed it up, then took some time to stretch and recenter herself in the Force.

The time passing gave her plenty of chance to work on everything they had developed. She was holding the scouter prepared for some of the things. She was reviewing the information on the project and tinkering with the main design to give it the proper overlay and system. Once they had the crystal visor itself across it they would be able to work with it. The sensors and overlay was a thin layer on the interior that connected to the mini computer and communicator within the piece going over the ear. With the right work for what they were developing it would easily be able to happen for them when she was speaking to herself. "Well hopefully she has learned more about it and for what we are wanting to do." She wasn't going to go in there and talk to the girl while she was working on more of the things here. She had many other projects that were being developed and many more things that the jedi themselves would be looking to use hopefully. There was the stunner that would work with it and some designs in the backburner but this would help out a number of them and go with some of the newer armor for watchmen she would be working on. "So how goes it for you?"

"I've finished my initial inspection of the device. Handy little thing, I think I'll have one of my engineers create a full 3D scan if that's alright."

"Looks like we're done here for today. I'm going to going to have my team setup for more testing and fabrication operations, then we'll begin scanning local fauna. I have some some other teams working at other locations, such as Ossus and Sekalus. The combination of large native populations of Force Sensitives living within large wells of the Force makes for a good testing environment."

She took out her phone and gave her team a call, still all on the ship. She gave them the go ahead to disembark, and begin issuing notices locally across the Holonet for the upcoming study. A small sum of credits and supply of select Panacea products in exchange for a few painless scans and a brain mapping session.

Shri-Tal was home to its own population of Force Sensitive creatures like terentatek, so a few camps would be established in the wilds to scan these beasts, and collect some samples for study for other projects.

Matsu looked at her with a nod of her head, there were a number of planets across the galaxy that were strong in the force and Sasori liked to go there and establish things. So that they would be able find different things when she bowed her head. "That is perfect, those worlds have a great many areas the device can be tested and I have decent relations with the locals on Sekalus or did. Things happen there so often that I am uncertain who exactly is in charge." She shrugged while walking and having everything that they will be able to work on here. She was bringing up more of the design so that they would be able to keep refining and improving upon it.
