Faction Proof Of Concept (NJO/GA)

Kahlil_Div2.png

"Hey now, shh. It's alright. It's okay."

Kahlil kept his hands up, smiling the ever calm smile. He had to. Here on New Cov, in the facility Valery Noble Valery Noble had gotten him permission to use, everything more or less rode on this working. He stood before a Sithspawn of all things, watching it's single eye, making sure it wasn't looking away from him. Keeping it calm as the others examined it. Sith Alchemy was always a careful blend of science and the Dark. He could figure out a good portion of what was done through the Dark.

The science, that wasn't as easy.

For the time being he kept it calm. It's mind wasn't completely warped, nor was it completely an animal. Sentience shown through it's gaze. Understanding, behind all that fear and panic he was keeping at bay. It was the only glimmer of hope here. Another needle, a low growl, and Kahlil nodded once towards the doctor. No more, not now. It wasn't going to stay calm for much longer. As the doctors left the mostly empty room, he'd start to lower his hands. Nod his head.

"We'll figure it out."

Not just him. The others. The creature slowly nodded it's head before laying out on the ground. It was bigger than him. So much bigger than him. And for now, calm. He took a step back, then turned to head back into the viewing room. Let out a sigh as the door behind him closed. Already the others were getting to work, analyzing what information they had gotten. This wasn't something Jedi ever attempted. That which was twisted by the dark had always been burned by the Light. But it wasn't this creatures fault.

"Were you able to get a tissue sample?"

"Yeah. .. Do you really think this will work?"

"No idea, but it's worth a try, right?"

The representative from the GSPCA stood over to one side, observing the proceedings with arms crossed over his chest. It was just Kai disguised as a Bothan, of course, but one must keep up appearances.

Though he was busy with work these days, Kai had immediately arranged to come as soon as he heard what Master Kahlil Noble was attempting to do. His own experiences with being poked, prodded, and experimented on by the Jedi in an attempt to purge the Dark from his body had lent him some perspective. In short: he didn't think this was going to work. But on the off chance that it did, he had to be there to see it.

And in the likely scenario that they failed to cleanse this Sithspawn of corruption, he would be there to take care of it, just as he had done with every other Sithspawn he'd ever tracked down.

Sayuri had come to New Cov to observe about a new process that Kahlil Noble Kahlil Noble had talked about to apparently cleanse people of their Sithspawn curses. It intrigued Sayuri but also made her nervous, she had heard of the discrimination that her Zanshi grandmother had faced and to a lesser extent her father, she herself had been lucky being surrounded by a young age by the Jedi and suffered none of that.

She walked in to the viewing area separated from Master Noble and the Sith spawn by thick glass. She had to remind herself, this was a master of the Jedi, not some crackpot scientist who was about to ask her to sign up to be purged of her heritage. The creature itself looked sad, some animal that had been warped and twisted. She put her hand on the glass in a sign of sympathy to it, silently wishing both the doctor and subject the grace of the force. She had messaged Kahlil earlier that day that she was willing to enter the chamber as a close support assistant to learn more, but she figured the process was too dangerous.

She glanced over at the Bothan nearby, a representstive from an animal rights charity as fare as she was aware. Yuri was impressed by the dedication of this individual, coming to a dangerous place like this, but with Jedi were around their safety was at least, mostly assured.

There was a time when Valery served an Enclave extreme in its beliefs regarding the Dark Side and anything touched by it. They did not believe in the path of redemption for those who had fallen, or simply felt it was a risk not worth taking while the Galaxy was still terrorized by the Sith Empire of the old Republic.

After her stasis, one Jedi had allowed her perspective to shift, and if it wasn't for him, she would have never agreed to allowing Jedi to find a way to restore creatures or people manipulated by the Dark Side. So because of that, she stood with the others and watched Kahlil Noble Kahlil Noble work with a faint, but proud smile.

A lot has changed since they met, and to see him so involved with the order for a cause like this gave her hope that the Jedi were all shifting in the right direction. Now she only wondered if he'd succeed or not, and to what extent.

There was no chance Amani was missing something like this.

The Chief Healer had her share of run-ins with Sithspawn before. Though many of her peers treated them as a black-and-white case, she couldn't help but envision the potential for a third option. Irregardless of how objective their capacity for evil or darkness might be in their warped state, who was to say that it could not be reversed? Treated?

It was uncharted science. Which only made it more exciting. Given Amani's experience, she was one of the few leading Jedi with actual quantitative understanding in matters biological. And admittedly, her time under the Sith's shroud furthered her insight on dark side alchemy specifically.

"No idea, but it's worth a try, right?"

"It is," Amani butted in with her own assurances, "This is what we're all about, right?" Jedi weren't executioners. If their mercy could be doled out through a manner other than the embrace of the Netherworld, it was their duty to see it done, "What's next?"

Jasper had been asked to be here personally by Master Noble, something he hadn’t exactly been expecting. She and Kahlil wanted him to be here. To see what was being done. It was really nothing short of ingenious, in concept. The reversion of the state of Sithspawn was an idea that hadn’t really been tinkered with. Some thought it simply wasn’t worth the risk, while others believed that whatever creature was reverted to such a state was too far gone. It was a sad fate, which only compelled Jasper to see this proof of concept for himself even more so.

Some pretty obvious faces were here. Amani, being the chief healer, and a few padawans curious about the prospect, but the Animal Cruelty protective agency person was a strange one. Sithspawn weren’t natural, after all. Reverting it back to a regular state was the furthest from animal abuse that you could get. But the man said nothing, so Jasper left the strange Bothan be, though he couldn’t help but feel that something was familiar about them…. He was probably just gaslighting himself.

“Do you think it’ll work?” Jasper finally asked Valery.

The knight was hopeful himself, but he frankly didn’t understand the complexities of alchemy as much as some of the other people present.

This is going to be interesting, Shani thought as she entered the viewing area. One of her fellow knights had raised an eyebrow at the shadow electing to come here - Her sentinel colleagues were known to be much more combative and hyperfocused on ending sithspawn and their creators, not saving them - but Shani's training and past weight deeply on her. The Consular-Shadow was resolved to avoid killing, as much as possible, and shining Ashla's light on the dark to save those fallen to Bogan, not to destroy them. She believed that even a righteous killing left a mark on the killer's soul, and her own soul was marked enough. She had much to learn about her new order - and, however arrogant it may seem, the attitude of some of her fellow Shadows made it plain that they had much to learn from her.

Finding a spot on the floor, she went down to her knees as to meditate, closing her eyes and letting the force to fill her sight. She could feel as the flow of Ashla's energy went like a current through all the life forces in the two rooms, even through the poor, corrupted life form which was being treated now. Focusing on what the masters in the operating room were doing, she began to make mental notes. I do hope this works, the perversions of Alchemy have scarred this galaxy enough.

Amanda had her fair share of run ins with sithspawn thus this attempt to cure or reverse the effects of sith alchemy was interesting to her but wouldn't be a viable combat application for a long time if ever considering all the changes it does to the recipient. The near notion of sith alchemy did disgust her just the idea of taking an object or creature and bend and corrupt it to someone's whims made her want to hit something. As she watched kahlil and amani try to cure the sithspawn creature she was sure Valery was here Incase things didn't go as planned she would help in that regard something that size could and would do a lot of damage if it got angry.

and she figured Valery would need help so the echani battlemaster stood there looking over the wolf from the view port she pittied it and felt sad for it but respected the strength behind it's form as it was even if it was based in the dark side and with with alchemy she looked at Valery and approached her "I respect what is going on here but I hope this facility has the proper security measures to hold it if it wants out or gets angry or it's up to us Jedi to protect it" she said to Valery "I hope we can cure it of this darkness and corruption for it's sake though" she said as she out the viewing port towards the creature. As she looked back at Valery her eyes a mix of sadness and determination.

"I don't know," Valery admitted in all honesty when Jasper joined her and asked the question. This wasn't something she'd ever even imagined trying, so there was no way she'd be able to make a prediction about the outcome. "But if anybody can do it, it's him. With some help, of course." She offered a smile and then turned her gaze to a new arrival.

A woman she didn't recognize.

"I wouldn't have arranged for it to be brought here if there weren't proper security measures in place," Valery said with a raised eyebrow in Amanda braska's direction. The Sithspawn had been captured on Coruscant by Kahlil and his Padawan, and while they had done that, she went through a long list of research facilities with capable confinement in place.

This beast wasn't going to escape, and even if it did, nobody would be endangered. It was likely that New Cov's jungles would kill it long before it could reach a domed city.

"We'll see. I have high hopes that progress will be made, but it's hard to say just how much."

Cora pressed a hand against the glass as if she were testing the density of the barrier separating herself from the monster.

That's what Sithspawn were. Grotesque monsters twisted beyond the limits of humanity by Dark majiks.

Still, there was something almost pitifully human about the beast in the theater below. She watched with fascination as Master Kahlil communicated with the creature, gentle and steady. He showed remarkable confidence and compassion in the face of something that would have Cora quaking with fear.

Sucking in a heavy breath, the Padawan glanced around those who'd gathered in the viewing area. The presence of her own Master and Jasper were comforting. The others she had less of an idea about. One person was meditating, which made her think that she should too. For some reason, she was getting vibes from the Bothan.

"Do you think it's…scared?"

Cora turned to the girl next to her, noting the purple streaks in her dark hair with a mix of admiration and jealousy. Father would never allow her to do something like
that.

He'd slipped into the viewing area, interest on the topic growing when he found out who would be in attendance. Eyes settled on the scene beyond the glass as he skirted the padawans and unknowns until a sentence caught his ear.

"Do you think it's…scared?"

A grin appearing as he leaned in.

"Terrified. Alone. But it trusts Kahlil it seems. Everything wants to hope. Just have to be brave enough to reach out sometimes... or stubborn enough." He spoke to the the padawan asking the question between herself and another with purple hair, his interest further in to the Mirialan speaking with Kahlil.

He didn't linger, passing them all by to plant himself next to the healer.

"Hey. Just starting are we?" He tried to pinch the skin of Amani Serys Amani Serys 's elbow, grinning stupidly as he kept his presence muted with all the was going on.

"Quite a crowd for the moment." He offered, glancing around them with a curious stare at each being present.

"Hey, Boss! I got your message. What's up--oh there's a lot of people here okay." The Nautolan padawan blinked. He regarded each being in the room curiously for a second before finally closing the door behind him. Awkwardness aside, he made his way through, bowing gently in greeting with that wide goofball grin to Valery Noble Valery Noble , where she was the only one in the room that he actually knew, before sidling up to the other side of Kahlil Noble Kahlil Noble .

"Uh.. Hey, Boss. You needed me?" Rhem tilted his head slightly, wondering what exactly was going on. His Masters message had only said he had a lesson for him and a location, nothing more.

Silas has been leaning up the wall for some time, head lowered and in deep thought from what he had been invited to. Kahlil had given him the invitation to attend after his past travels going to his lab. Apparently, he was doing an experiment on a sithspawn in order to change it back to its original state. Even with Kahlil's expertise, Silas wasn't sure if he'd be able to achieve such a feat. If he did, it would certainly be groundbreaking and a game changer for sure.

There was already a group of familiar Jedi in the room, all of which he'd say hello to soon enough. Although, there was a person standing next to him who seemed quite out of place. Finally looking up, he stared at the disguised Kai and nodded over to him "Excuse me sir, but who are you?" he asked politely, pushing himself off the wall to stand next to him.

"I presume you know Master Kahlil somehow?"

"Terrified. Alone. But it trusts Kahlil it seems. Everything wants to hope. Just have to be brave enough to reach out sometimes... or stubborn enough."

"Something like that, I'm sure," Jasper nodded. He turned a moment to Cora. "I'm sure you'll come across plenty of people or creatures just as terrified as this one. Maybe this is a good lesson for us all. I hope you take something valuable away from it at least."

If not him, then the next generation. It was important that they learned what they could now. There were a few familiar faces there as well. The late arrival of Silas was certainly a reassuring one, and it was good to see the former crusader Shani Tari engaging with the order as well. Jasper turned back crossing his arms as he looked on at the ongoing experiment.

"I don't know. But if anybody can do it, it's him. With some help, of course."

"I hope so," the knight mused aloud. "There's a lot of things out there that have been corrupted like this and left to rampage. This could change everything."

Seated in the observation area for the experiment that was supposed to be taking place, legs crossed in the dress of a Senator's aide with a datapad on her lap, Raenlyn was only partially paying attention to the slow efforts by the Jedi Master and the doctors on the floor. Officially, she had been dispatched by the Senator of Arkania to take notes and report on the experiment to cleanse a captured Sithspawn. Arkania and its genetics industry, if the experiments proved fruitful or needed more specialist help, were willing to assist if needed. So that was how a young untrained Force Sensitive Senatorial aide found herself watching the test by Master Kahlil Noble and the attempt to help it.

Unofficially, her mother had been curious at what might be attempted by the Jedi.

It didn't seem like the experiment had begun yet, or at least she expected with this audience that the Master would explain his hypothetical process, and as no one was currently chatting with her, she was listening to the conversations around her... and playing a digital card game on her datapad.

"Excuse me sir, but who are you?"

Kai recognized Silas' voice even before he faced the boy. Silas had grown up. He was taller, broader, more sure of himself - and was that the beginnings of a beard bristling along his jaw?

"Rae Daanruano," Kai replied, holding out his hand to shake. "I'm here representing the Galactic Society For the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. Our organization helps to ethically and safely relocate Sithspawn."

"I presume you know Master Kahlil somehow?"

"Not personally. I heard about this experiment through GA channels." He inclined his head. "It's rare that Sithspawn are treated with compassion. Most are simply put down. If the project doesn't succeed, I intend to lobby for the creature's release into GSPCA custody. It doesn't need to die simply because of what it is."

Amanda was reassured by Valery that all was taken care of security wise "I didn't mean to imply this compound wasn't safe just that I'm worried about it getting loose but I'll leave you alone" she said as she walked over to the viewing glass to stand by herself the echani master looked at the large sithspawn laying there as it looked up at her and she met its gaze she could almost feel what it felt looking into it's eye. She felt sad for it unfortunately she was a one trick pony who's only primary skill was combat. Curing stuff like this she would leave for those better suited.

Holly sighed in an agitated fashion as she waited for the droid to get back to her. She had not been allowed inside the facility yet, but that did not surprise her. She wasn’t exactly sure that the Jedi wanted this blasted all over the Holo. They probably weren’t even aware it was on the medias radar.

The truth was it wasn’t. It was on HOLLY’S radar. Her boss didn’t know she was here, though she figured she wouldn’t get fired if she landed a nice page one lead, or maybe the opening story for the late night news. That might not come soon though. There was every possibility that the GA didn’t want this broadcasted. Still curiosity got the better of Holly. She wanted behind those closed doors and waiting for a droid to figure out if she was allowed in was torture.

As more and more people filtered in to the observation area, Sayuri was glad she had gotten here early and got a good spot to watch, there was something in the air about it.

"Do you think it's…scared?"

Sayuri was about to answer the blonde girl's question when the head of Tarish Galland interjected between them and responded. Yuri wrinkled her nose and gave the interrupting face a look from the side of her eyes as he walked away. Then finally answered "Yeah, I think so, I can feel its fear when I look at its eyes. I would be scared." There was lot of sympathy for the test subject in her voice as she spoke only just loud enough to be heard over the excited hum in the room.

She looked over her other shoulder before brushing a few purple stands off of her face and spoke to the other padawan again, "Looks like people are really interested, there is even a reporter here," she glanced at Holly Starstorm Holly Starstorm across the room, everyone new her from the holonews. She wondered why the press was covering this at all, but reporters were born nosey and Yuri had to admit she quite enjoyed reading some of Starstorm's gossip columns. She joked to the other teen "Maybe she's trying to scoop who the sith spawn is dating and what they will be wearing this season.

I just hope it all goes OK. I've seen you around the temple, Von Ascandia or something right? I'm Yuri."
she turned back to look at the procedure as it unfolded.

There was some interest, few and far between as it was. Sithspawn, some foul creature of even worse creation. Born of the bottomless, endless pits of the darkness that loomed and lurked in the corners. It would be a lie to claim he did not come to the immediate decision that it was best left dead. His lip twisted sour with the idea. Corin was far from the best of them, maybe even the worst. The same fate may best suit him, too.

He stood with arms folded in quiet observation, a stare both harsh and empty carried on with equal measure. The words from the Bothan stole his attention, a faint and amused huff followed with the faintest glimpse of a smile once he turned back. Those words seemed familiar.

"It's Sithspawn," he said flatly. "It isn't an animal, it's a monster, a creature made from the dark. Why should it be allowed to live?"
