Karen's eyes grew as wide as the sun. What!? Good heavens. She was surrounded by crazy people! One million credits was a huge sum and the CEO just agreed to it, completely. That was ridiculous to Karen. A single map wasn't worth half that. ...And then Quen mentioned using their corpses as compensation!? Good heavens, no! If somebody dies out in the Dread Forest, don't send anybody after our items. They'll just end up dead too.
Roberts shook her head in disbelief. She was surrounded by crazy people.
"Um. Yes well. There you have it. A perfectly good business deal. ...Or something?"
It was all that she could mutter. However, the tiny Rikket man seemed marvelously impressed! One million credits? Just like that? Yippee! He was going to be rich! The old Dwarf practically treated Jaster like a son now,
"Hi ho, my boy! Did you say transfer? Goodness yes! Let's. Let's. My daughter will be happy to transfer the funds into our account. Here! Here! Just push the button on my datapad. Bingo! Perfect. Thank you mightily. The map is all yours good master giant-man."
Becket reached into his pants and withdrew a leather map. It was remarkably detailed with directions out into the forest. Sadly, none of the writing was in Galactic Basic. It was written in the Rikket language, Bronze Tongue.
"Oh now, my boy. Don't you mind the letters. Just follow the Ruins out yonder and you'll get there. ...Ah! But I should mention now. Since you're thinking the same thing. That Netherworld Portal closed many months ago. We called it the Door of Death. ...Oh yes. And when she closed we gathered up the city War Droids and purged that Ruin clear of any nasties. Dropped a few bombs on them too for good measure. Smashed everything into pieces we did. You'll not find anything special out there, let me tell you. I personally oversaw the operation. That portal is closed for good. ...But? If you want to be exploring the Ruins? I'll not stop you. You did just buy my only map, after all. Hehe."
Karen rolled her eyes. Of course the portal was closed. The moment Akala died at the hands of the Legendary Heroes, all the portals closed for good. Poor Corellia even got torn in two because of it. But that wasn't going to stop Karen from looking for clues about the Rogue Celestials. This was too perfect of an opportunity not to.
She looked at Jaster,
"Well. Since it's your map now? I suppose we're following you."
Karen shrugged. As long as Jaster had the map, she would have to follow him.
