Description: A smaller version of the traditional Tuk’ata, Pup’atas have been created as loyal companion animals. Suitable as both pets and protection, but with less ferocity and a friendlier attitude than their predecessors. Very easy to train to a variety of commands and tricks, affectionate and loyal, they are the last pet a person may ever need.

Races: N/A
Strengths:
(+)Long Lived: Far longer lived than any other GenPal, Pup’atas have an extended lifespan.
(+)Loyal: Once an emotional bond is formed, Pup’atas are incredibly loyal. Through thick and thin, they would follow you through the Maw and back.
Weaknesses:
(-)The End of an Era: Pup’atas are long lived by request, so that no owner ever has to outlive their beloved pup. This does not take into account the Pup’atas’ feelings on the matter. Being semi-sentient and deeply loyal, the death of their owner is a deeply traumatic experience for them. While not on the level of a Force Bond, it is likely that a Pup’ata deprived of their owner through death will simply pine away of a broken heart rather than bond with another.
(-)Sterile: Like all GenPals animals, the Pup’atas are sterile to discourage irresponsible breeding.
(-)Proprietary: Like all GenPals animals, Pup’atas require GenPals brand food to remain healthy and within warranty. GenPals animals fed non-branded food will eventually weaken and possibly die, as they are engineered with certain nutrition needs only their proprietary blend contains in the right ratios.
CULTURE
Diet: GenPals Brand Canine food and treats. Pup’ata should not be fed off brand food or it will void its warranty
Communication: Barks, yips, whimpers, extensive body language.
Technology level: N/A
Religion/Beliefs: N/A
General behavior: The last friend someone will ever need. Sturdy, dependable, honest, brave, and true, a Pup’ata is the pinnacle of canine loyalty. While they tend to bond strongest with a single person, they are pack animals at their core and do well in families, children, and with other pets. But there will always be that one special person who will gain a second shadow. Highly motivated to please their owners they respond well to treats and positive reinforcement for the sake of training. Intelligent, they can learn a wider variety of commands than a typical canine, allowing for more complicated communication between them and their owners than may be otherwise typical. Pup’atas are equally happy to play or sit quietly with their ‘person’, though they benefit from regular, vigorous exercise and appropriate chew toys to avoid mishap with personal belongings. Pup’atas do not tend toward aggression, though they can be trained as guard animals and will respond immediately and without hesitation to a threat made to their owner. How they respond to that threat will depend entirely on the training they have received.
When [member="Mythos"] of the Ancient Eye came to GenPals with a request, Cass almost turned him down. A pet that lived as long as its owner? Part of the success of GenPals as a business model was that people would continue to buy pets as theirs (much beloved) passed on. The price willing to be paid, as well as the promise of continued long term business in the form of Pet food sales swayed her. She did not comment at the time of course that if GenPals were to go out of business, well…..
But that hardly seemed like her problem.
Using the genetic material provided as samples by the Ancient Eye leader, as well as their experience with Vornskr and Strill genetics, the GenPals scientists were able to accomplish these long lived canines. While it is possible they could live longer than estimated, due to their likely reaction to their owners death, well. It seemed deeply unlikely. Expensive and made in limited quantities only for that faction, they soon made their way to Ancient Eye space. Into the arms, and hearts, of Mythos’ subjects.
