Pushing the Boundaries [PM for Invite]

Rax went and released his brother Barb, the two spoke kinetically in which Barb thanked his brother and was just about to go after [member="Kuvantu"] until Rax placed a hand at his chest in a gesture to stop him. If there was anything certain they'd stick with their deal; especially since more pressing matters were at hand. Klay had made his way into the mine , just behind the now cut down security team that had killed nearly half his men and kath hounds. His two blaster pistols drawn, the pirate crawled deeper to ambush them once they met the rest of his crew.

There was no way he'd allow all of them to perish. Enough blood has been wasted this day and even the possibilities of Cortosis ore was beginning to lose its sway on the pirate's greed.

Lesana and those she accompanied finally made it to the exterior entrance of the mine, the slaves and labourers began to unload the equipment and tools that would eventually proceed inside the faciliy to extract all the ore found in the complex. The security team inside was reinforced by the five who came from the landing site -- bring their numbers to twelve against twenty. The security team made its way deeper into the mine, noticing rusted shafts and the moan of stress under the support beams caused by the conflict. Just as they neared the entrance to the main mine -- where the pirates were -- the Captain of their group halted the party at a fork in the tunnels, but by the looks of it they both lead into the same chamber. "I want half of you to go right, the rest come with me left.", the team split and prepared to meet the pirates.

The bodies at the entrance made Lesana uncomfortable: This was the first time she's ever witnessed corpses in the face of battle. She was a shipwright, an engineer, and a salvager but not a killer nor a soldier. The sight of death -- especially this kind of death -- was not horrifying, it made her heart skip a beat and her face grow pale as if she just saw a ghost. One of the slaves, the Twi'lek from before tapped her on the shoulder in reassurance; as if he's seen this before. There was a continued sadness towards the slaves, one that did not go away no matter how hard she tried.

Kuvantu had made it to his ship. While he would love to stay and shoot down the remaining pirates with his fighter's blasters, he decided such would incur the possibility of getting whatever entity had unintentionally helped him make his escape. From his pocket he took a small device and pressed a button on it, the cockpit of the fighter opening in reaciton. He grabbed on to the side of the cockpit and hoisted himself in, unintentionally pressing a few buttons but with no consquence due to the fighter's inactivated state. Kuvantu sat himself up and pressed two buttons on the left side of his fighter's dashboard. The glasteel enclosure came down, sealing itself, and activating the ship. He grabbed the pilot's helmet and put it on, the computers adjusting the guns to pivot in the direction that he turned his head. Kuvantu activated the anti-grav thrusters and maneuvering thrusters, adjusting the pitch and yaw to what he wanted before activating the main engine, accelerating the fighter more and more as it made its way towards the edge of the planet's atmosphere.

The security team made its move against the pirates; going left and right before converging on the enemy. The narrow caverns opened up into a massive hollow filled with untouched crates of Cortosis ore and even more still embedded into the walls. Although this was what they came for, it did not stop their relentless fury as they unleashed their blasters against the pirates; without mercy. They were not interested in taking prisoners as this was only for the ore. The mining crew -- along with Lesana -- waited outside the caverns for the call announcing that it was clear to enter. Her fears were slowly consuming her inside and left bouts of uncertainty as towards whether or not she would be able to escape death at all. Funny, fate is never quite forgiving.

The slaves were likely thinking similar things. They seemed uncertain of their place in this world; of course that is expected of someone who's life is no longer their own. To be a slave to anyone, let alone The Primeval, is a burden few are ready to bear. Those who manage to survive do so with their pride broken and hope lost -- for sacrificing everything you are is all that anyone has left.

The pirates were being slaughtered left and right. Few were with weapons after the mutiny and those who had them were hopelessly outmatched. Klay approached from his flanking position and fired off a few shots from his pistols and managed to drop at least two of them before noticing the sound of someone outside; less than a dozen of his comrades remained inside the room alive and a hard choice would have to be made. Go down with them or make your escape.

Rax and Barb were just behind a rubble building overlooking the mining crew just over their dead companions. Barb's anger was visible as his face grew a bitter and sour red as the stress swelled inside his head, Rax held him back whilst trying to kinetically gesture some sort of peace-making conversation that was broken up by each attempt to escape his arms. The pirate openly wept but became surprised at the sight of Klay rushing out, pointing his pistols towards Lesana -- who seemed like a leader -- The blaster fire behind him had suddenly stopped and his stomach dropped. He knew his friends were dead and there was nothing left to do, to anyone his face was filled with grief but more so guilt. He would escape with his life but something stayed his hand from killing her. "Let me go.", he said shakily as his eyes dried out; one pistol deathly close to her head. "Do not follow me.", he said taking a few steps back with the blaster pointed towards her. The sound of the security team moving back startled him and with that he turned towards his last living crew members and ran. Jumping over the rubble he placed his hands -- pistols still in them -- on them each, "We're going. We run.", the pirate captain did not want to leave the bodies but would not risk the rest of them. Barb and Rax were fiercely loyal and what little hesitation either of them had went as they followed the hard orders of their captain. "I'm a coward." echoed through his thoughts as they took their speeders and went as far as they could.

The Umbaran security Captain approached from the facility and stepped in front of Lesana. "Study the ore.", he said before looking past her, "The rest of you: You know what to do.", seven of the security members -- all that remained kept order in the group as the miners, labourers, and slaves took their equipment into their mine. They sorted through the appropriate ore and began to purify it, extracting what they could and sealing them in crates -- the ships landed tightly inside the complex for easier transportation and after about a week their ore was ready to be shipped out. The hard part began, due to the fact many of them and the equipment took up space in the hold they had to make sacrifices. The soldiers pointed their blasters at most of the slaves and murdered them all on the spot in an execution fashion.

Lesana's heart dropped again as the memories of her autoboarding flashed through her mind, "Don't do this!", she said grabbing hold of the Captain -- her outcry was too late, she knew it but somehow she hoped if she was at least sorrowful that whatever sins kept hold of her would disappear. That any guilt she felt would vanish. The body of the Twi'lek laid still and lifeless on the ground, his eyes filled with he gaze of death and loss. This wasn't the escape they wanted but there was some healing in knowing that at least they wouldn't witness the greatest horrors capable of these Primeval. The Captain pushed her back, turning towards the ships. "Come.", he grunted. The other soldiers pushed her along but she came willingly and with the ore they came for -- the ships left the world behind.

The Cortosis in their hands would provide great uses for Anja and her fleet but what uses those are is yet to be told.

Weeks had passed with little result. No matter how many planets he had gone to, no matter how many people he had asked, he still knew little about the force, only responses that gave general information about the Sith and the Jedi.

The Vagaari fighter sailed smoothly in hyperspace, going forever until it hit the next gravity well in Kuavantu's endless search for the information that he sought. He sat back and thought to himself. What was this, the hundredth time that he had risked his life for something stupid? All of it for a blaster pistol. He thought that the abandoned mine would be safe, and he still did not understand what both of those entities had fought so hard to get into the mine for.
