Put Out The Fire

It seemed either the Rodian had blown her off, or she had struck a deal and now was waiting on him. Connor saw Lilla sat unassuming in the back well of the room, blending in. It was in this line of sight he saw Qetal coming back over, and he walked to meet him.

”Ok, ah, don’t get me wrong, I don’t know you, but you seem ok. It’s just the Hutt guard over there has granted you an audience at the request of…of the Hutt himself.”

Connor felt it. It was worse.

Qetel pulled a blaster and aimed it as Connor’s gut, just another a crimson guard walked up behind with a rifle.

”Sorry, Connor, but someone who was responsible for the First Order bombardment of Skor II and an escapee of the Galactic Alliance is just too good a prize to give up.”

For a second, the human looked a little disappointed, but waved him on with the blaster as the crimson guard led him on. They walked through the room where not many people seemed to notice – or care – and out to the stairwell, leading back to the large chilly atrium.

The stairwell leading up the Hutt quarters was their destination.

”Just as I was beginning to like you, too.”

Connor didn’t need to catch Lilla’s eye – he knew she was watching, but this was now a choice one her part. To flee, to follow, or fight her way out.

Lilla kept one eye on her comms-link, a second on Connor and a third on the room in general. OK< they were metaphorical eyes – but the output was the same.

She received a message saying the deal was on – and her parts would be waiting for her – when Connor’s friend returned. Friend was a loose term – and on this occasion could only be used if friends pulled blasters on each other, and threatened to blow a hole in their stomachs.

The wave of the offending weapon suggested Connor was destined to carry on the chat elsewhere. To stand now would be to draw attention, so Lilla watched and when she thought it was safe, stood and walked in the opposite direction before traversing the room and then following. Fortunately Jedi senses allowed her to keep tabs on them.

She found the foot of a stairwell, and given it went in one direction only, she cautiously headed up he stairs. Once she reached the top, she paused – listening for signs that Connor was in complete control – or that he needed help. She was genuinely unsure which she would put money on in a wager.
