Q55 MultiTool

Corey's OOC

And where were the spiders
Intent: To provide a Semi-Advanced battlefield datapad/utility tool
Development Thread:
Manufacturer:
Model: Q55 MultiTool
Affiliation: Public
Modularity: Projectile Attachment
Production: Mass
Material: Light Armor Weave
Description: The Q55 Multi Tool was created to offer a new range of wearable tech for use on the battlefield, and beyond. Designed to be equally useful for soldiers, both professional contractors and military, as well as operatives, the primary function of this unit is to provide a forearm mounted datascreen, holographic display for messages, as well as a visor mounted camera, range finder, flashlight and geographic locator. The visor and the forearm mounted computer will link wirelessly to store/display data. The unit will connect to any available wireless HoloNet system in order to give the camera full functionality of identifying flora, fauna, mineral, weapons and starships that are on publically available networks.

Additionally, the Q55A is an advanced model that has an extra attachment on the wrist unit that can allow for a range of dart tools to be used including a tracking bug, poison dart, exploding dart, piton attached to a 75 foot cable designed for the wearer’s body and gear weight, other offerings include a cable to break into low security computers (think Star Wars USB cable with a brute force password cracking program), a low energy electromagnetic pulse or an electromagnet. Only one of these options may be selected per unit.

Q55A
Additionally, the Q55A is an advanced model that has an extra attachment on the wrist unit that can allow for a range of dart tools to be used including a tracking bug, poison dart, exploding dart, piton attached to a 75 foot cable designed for the wearer’s body and gear weight, other offerings include a cable to break into low security computers (think Star Wars USB cable with a brute force password cracking program), a low energy electromagnetic pulse or an electromagnet. Q55S
The Q55S is a stealth variant of the Multi Tool designed for special operatives. It is available to military purchasers only.

In this variant there is no longer a forearm mounted display, instead there is an Optical Head Mounted Display. Information is projected onto the wearer's view. There is no longer any wireless connection between units to reduce emissions to a negligible level. This version has a semi-virtual control panel. On their forearm is a sensitive panel, with a small coloured dot at each corner that is wired to the neck unit. When the user looks at their forearm, the OHMD will project an image of a control screen onto the panel for their use. For security reasons this unit does not connect directly to the Holonet, but to military communication bearers that may have secure ongoing connections to the Holonet. The CIS maintains several databases on its secure networks, and will typically deploy these to operations. It was considered too great a risk for have direct Holonet comms, as a skills intelligence service could track the queries emanating from the devices and work out where operatives were active. The unit will be loaded with a significant amount of information before deployment, typically allowing the user to identify local objects, mission critical objectives, detailed maps suitable for the operation, as well as carry out threat assessments on enemy equipment.

The default mode of this unit is "silent running". The unit will receive communications, but not send. This was the commanding officers can broadcast encrypted commands, but the special operatives will not produce any EM beacons. The users can exit "silent mode" for normal military operations and day-to-day use, but a Platoon/Squad leader has the ability to force all of his troops into "silent mode" before an operation.

The mapping module is highly advanced and uses military satellites / grounded tracking kit to place the soldier's location to within 0.5m. This is available in the Q55's silent mode as long as the unit has been pre-loaded with suitable maps. The unit is capable of showing the user a map, down to the level of individual building blueprints (if available). The OHMD can also project routing information, objectives and other information directly onto the user's display. When not in silent mode, each Q55 will connect to all members of the squad and can project the position of squad members onto the display, even if they are outside of the wearers line-of-sight (behind walls etc). Once an enemy has been identified by a squad/platoon mate this will also be shown on the display. This provides soldiers with exceptional situational awareness.
How about the Q55S?
