Question for the faction: academy?

We're not a Forcer faction, but there's a good few Forcers in here. My aim is to make sure our Forcers get training resources they could use, but also to make sure we don't shift the faction's focus toward Forcers. A couple of ways this could work:

• A small Forcer enclave on one of our worlds - basic but with character
• A 'remote study' program operated out of something mobile, a ship - with Forcer stuff as one part of the curriculum, but also tons of things like astrogation and so forth. Almost a budget crappy outer rim starfleet academy that works via correspondence courses.

Can we build off the Exocron stuff from Masters of the Fringe, have that be a secluded force enclave or sorts? Could even build some different NPC there to act as masters for non-evil training should a PC not be available?

[member="Bryce Bantam"] - Exocron would be a definite possibility, and NPCs would be ideal. I've put in a couple of entries to the Codex Lore Challenge, and if I win, a dev-free Master-level NPC is one prize option, so this could be a great use for that. I've got another established NPC I could contribute too.

Let's keep an eye out for other planet possibilities too. The Kathol Sector/Outback/Rift have so many worlds that frankly I don't know what exactly is out there.

I submitted the canon planet Binaros for inclusion to the map just before the Kal'Shebbol dominion, so we got it with the hex.

There's an Imperial Research Station that I was going to dev into a Corellia Digital broadcast station, but I like your idea for an academy, and that spot strikes me as a good location for you.

[member="Sor-Jan Xantha"] - Binaros rings a bell. Wasn't that research station...oh cool, so it's part of/adjacent to an old temple. I checked the maps and Binaros is just under a month past Kal'Shebbol, so more or less a central location within Kathol space. I dig this.

LAA affiliation could also be very cool. Hadn't thought of anything like that.

I still have our old sheet with the entire listing of planets in the Demonsgates hex, I like everything I've seen so far, so give me until about Sunday, because I'm going to try and work something out here. I'd also like to propose some sort of medical school or academy since that seems to be a bit of a thing here along with something for slicers under the KOSAS tab as well.

I'd like the idea of us being Force Users akin to the Dark Years.

Basically no base temple, just a loose gathering of teachings and sites of pilgrimage or worth.

I like the idea of having multiple outposts stretched throughout our territories and beyond. Sort of FU shadowports, if you will, that maintains our ragtag, fringe narrative.

Small outposts could fall under the jurisdiction of a knight, while masters would hold the more major ones and those that deal with younglings.

I was thinking we could have a dedicated ship that acted as a mobile temple that travels from planet to planet offering spiritual guidance and training.

I'm going to be going down the space magic route myself so if we can reach some sort of consensus about what the FU infrastructure can and will be, I'm happy to rustle up location subs as well as relevant story threads.

We could set up smaller academy sites throughout the Outback given how long it takes to reach neighboring systems here. Basically, we would be setting up smaller Starfleet Academies for those who want to learn and perhaps cannot afford to go to an actual university or obtain some sort of higher education. This would also afford us the luxury of having a research lab or two somewhere. Most likely on one of the major hyperlanes, I like Runi's idea a lot too.

I think one of the planets we either have or will be gunning for already has a temple or two, and if the planets we have already have them then we could just make use of them.

I still think all of the above, instead of trying to structure this we let is be free form, some have mobile training ships, others secluded temples. Each unique and avaliable to whoever wants to train there.

Know what we should do? Forget an Academy for forcers and make it an academy for everyone with a few extra courses that forcers could apply for. Like a more nitty-gritty version of the Levantine Astronautical Academy, but for the more... 'Displaced' or 'disenfranchised' people.

I'm talking lock picking, how to repel boarders, self-protection in general (none of that soresu bull.)

Things that makes life a lot easier in the outer rim and the outback. Shooting, knifing, spooning... The usual survival things.

Also, I think a mobile academy would be better than having stationary outposts/academies cause it does match our ragtag, on-the-go theme.
