Question for the faction: academy?

Also, I think a mobile academy would be better than having stationary outposts/academies cause it does match our ragtag, on-the-go theme.
Which is to say there is a stationary/mobile HQ at all. For all we know it could be more of a network of people who has assignments ready for people to partake in with the added bonus of learning something more in-depth. Samwise the Cook teaching people how to create impromptu explosives, Gamgee the Disgraced Jedi Master who is able to teach a few individuals about the life of a healer on the run.

Kaili Talith giving a lesson in how to Mechu Deru for ship repairs, if they should have the proficiency to use it. Mara Merrill teaching people about navigating anything and yourself with the force, and so on.

In short, rather than making it an institution with a base, make it a network. Something that people can be part of without having to travel to a specific meeting point. If you want to be part of a course, then grab your pad, apply the encryption, send the key, browse the board for available missions (read: courses) and give them an estimate time of your arrival.

That way anyone can be part. No need for masters, just volunteers who give out knowledge for free.

[member="Vilaz Munin"] telling people how to handle Mandos and shoot guns good.
[member="Alec Rekali"] teaching people how to be a schu- Right, this is OOC. Oops. Sorry.
NPCs - Teaching people whatever they want. The boundaries of common sense is your limit. An untrained spacer forcer is not very likely to be a master of White Current (example.)

This could also be the subject of dominion plots, to expand this network and get more force cultures and such involved in the Outback's catalog of knowledge without having them established within our territories.

It's a faction that doesn't necessarily focus on the force, It's just a faction way out in the backwoods of the galaxy, Forcers and non-forcers alike can and do join, it's like the rebels from the galactic civil war, taking what they can get for resources and running through the shadows fighting big-bads.

CKS would be more than willing to build a space station academy for us. It would probably need a Dev thread though.

Wait a second, this is not a NFU faction? (ノಥ,_」ಥ)ノ彡┻━┻

This is primarily an NFU faction. Since we've had some problems with, say, forgetting to promote our Forcers and otherwise support them, this thread is just me trying to make sure we don't overlook our FU members. The goal is to focus on NFUs without neglecting our FUs.

That's why I'm really leaning toward the idea of a mobile NFU/FU academy that visits different locations, different areas of expertise. Slicing, medicine, space navigation, wrenchery, Force stuff totally a sideline.

My current thought is to submit it as a nonprofit corporation to get it all in one place, and add locations as people submit them in Codex.

Personally, I say focus on the NFU skills. There a million factions people can tap into to expand their FU skillset, and plenty of knights/masters here they can tap into for the same.

Plus, NFU skills are also good for FUs to have (says the kid who is more engineer than Jedi)

I just got here and my two cents is that i agree with [member="Sor-Jan Xantha"] . If you want this faction to primarily focus on NFUs then we don't need an academy for FUs. They can get Wizardry training from individuals or from other established orders.

I honestly don't think we need to sacrifice one for the other. A structure would just give people the option of adding a little space wizardy action to their stories. It doesn't need to - nor should it - become the focus of the faction as a whole.
