Lacking Arms: Its an Astromech, therefore lacking arms that it can use to fight or defend itself.
Droid: As a droid, it cannot be reasoned with nor persuaded unless programmed otherwise.

R3-F3 was found in an old New Republic (a little strange) cruiser, its memory cleared and its body in disrepair. The droid was repaired, reprogrammed and put up for sale by junkers.
