Rage against the dying of the light

sorry for the long delay!! I had an untimely LOA for home renovations and am now getting back into the swing of things!

I was thinking, now that we've settled on how we are proceeding, everyone's next set of posts can be us arriving via our various routes!

Kian nodded to [member="Mark Sage"] and smiled. He liked preparation and always planning for things you might not anticipate, it was the hallmark of a good Jedi. Kian also glanced over to the large padawan, Jacen Voidstalker and nodded his head in acknowledgement of their joining together for team 1. Kian looked forward to getting to know the Jedi on this mission.

"We have some assets on the station and there isn't anything that seems to indicate there is any Sith presence." Kian said holding up a hand to indicate that it was something they had been concerned about.
"The Sith are about Order and control, something that criminals such as this do not like." Kian said smiling. "They've worked just as hard to hide their presence from the One Sith as they have from the Republic."

"However, if we are concerned about our force presences being felt, it shouldn't be too sever of an issue. With as many people on this vessel as there are, there are bound to be force presences and unless specifically looking for them, which they'd have no reason to, they would likely miss us among the hordes."

Kian glanced around them all and folded his hands over his chest. "So, you go in under your cover identities, infiltrate the black market and secure the artifacts."

"Jedi Voidstalker and myself will get the incriminating evidence and enter....." Kian said smiling mischievously under his mask.

"By other means!"

"And here I was hoping to get to play the wealthy antique lover. Always assumed you shadows would have a decent budget for this kind of thing, would have needed expenses to stay in character, obviously." Jacen said with a wry smile.

Inwardly he was starting to panic a tad. Used to a strictly hierarchical world based on clear doctrine, the notion of going into an operation like this without a clear plan was worrying.

This was a new game, it had taken him decades to learn his last trade. Before that he'd utterly failed at being a Jedi.

The emphasis on "other means" wasn't doing his confidence wonders either! Still, you pressed on, kept your nose to the grindstone until you made progress. There were at least some signs he was more prepared for this role than last time. He pushed himself up out of his seat, if not confident, at least mentally steeling himself for what was to come.

"So, you go in under your cover identities, infiltrate the black market and secure the artifacts."

So now they had a plan.

"Yay! I get to be a slave," the small Nautolan quipped, his tone making it clear that he was less than enthusiastic about just what he'd volunteered for. Oh well, as the practiced thespian of imagination pretend play that he was, Zak would pitch himself wholly into the role. He would be the slave. He would become the sla...

Wait...

"Master, what do slaves do anyway?" the youngling asked curiously, turning his head to gaze up at his Chandrila master. He understand that slaves were slaves, which meant that they were owned by other people. Which was really weird. How could a person own another person? They were persons, not... like... droids or anything. Did that mean they had to do whatever the owner-person said? So it was like a lifetime 'Simon says' tournament?

He needed to make sure he had his source material down before they left for the station.

Which, Master Karr hadn't covered that part. When were they going to leave for the station? Was the briefing over?

"Yay! I get to be a slave," Nef's padawan said, clearly sarcastic
"Master, what do slaves do anyway?"
"Slaves are like unpaid servants with little to no rights whatsoever. I have a better idea for your fake identity that will seem more believable. You see, my family has never owned slaves; our servants have always been hired. How about I say you are my servant? I wouldn't mind paying a wage either" ^_^

Nefertari addressed the whole group again
"I guess we are just about ready."

It was all coming together now.
"So we've got a countess, her servant, and...."
Mark paused for a moment. He hadn't taken into account that he was in fact in on this too.
"Who am I exactly?"

OOC - Mark, brah, you can't drop a line like that and not expect this to happen...

The young Nautolan just looked over at the teenage human, as the Yavin school padawan asked the loaded question.

"Who am I exactly?"

A mischievous smile crept across the green child's face. If his master were paying attention, she might have had some forewarning of the immature antics yet to follow. Rising up from out of his seat, the youngling once again adopted the archaic and formal speech tones of Master Nef's protocol droid as he genuflected toward Mark and proclaimed him, "Lord Fartquaad."

Then he plopped back down into his seat, and began giggling like a git.

Yes, he was nine.

Yes, it was annoying.

Nef gave her padawan a glare.
"That is in no way becoming of a gentleman, or a servant for that matter." She whispered to him
Turning back to [member="Mark Sage"], the Countess offered a suggestion.
"I believe you could pass for my cousin, padawan Sage. You do not bear too much resemblance to the Sovint bloodline, but the Jinn bloodline could suit you easily."
If anybody else needed help finding a role to play, Nef would be happy to help.

Ok I'm jumping us ahead to arriving at the station, this will be where the two groups divulge for a time!! Good luck and may the force be with you.

"Good luck everyone," Kian said rising, "and may the force be with you." Kian turned to [member="Jacen Voidstalker"] and indicated for him to follow him. Kian had his plans on getting the two of them on the station and it was time they prepared for them.

Several Hours Later

They had arrived at the station smuggled in the hold of a small freighter. Kian knelt on the floor, the suit he wore was somewhat hot, but it trapped in body heat for the jump they were about to make. The freighter was one of several ships waiting to pass through clearance before they could dock with the station. Rising to his feet, Kian turned toward Jacen.

"Are you suited up?" Kian asked. They would be making a jump through the open space between the vessel and the station. The blue prints that had been given to Kian had indicated an exhaust port that was their target. Kian wore no helmet, as a Kel Dor he would be okay in the vacuum of space, at least for a time.

"We're next in line and will need to make the jump soon." Kian said indicating that Jacen should get his helmet locked in place. As if on cue, the vessel began to move as it sped towards the docking port, this was it. Kian walked over and thumbed the datapad that was sliced into the ships systems. It was wired to open the door on his command and seal it back behind them. The programming would stop the vessel's alarms from indicating the breach and the datapad had nothing that could identify its owner on it. They would leave behind little to no evidence of their presence here.

"Time to go." Kian said over his shoulder and began his countdown in his head.

Five.

Four.

Three.

Two.

......One.....Kian thumbed the datapad and the door sprang open, the depressurization pulling him and Jacen out into space...

Voidstalker. It wasn’t intended to be a literal title. In fact, few things unnerved him as much as having a mere sheet of fabric between himself and the vacuum of space. During his zero-g training in the military he’d suffered a rupture to his suit and lost all feeling in his arm for a few hours. All sound muffled to near nothing as the atmosphere dispersed to nothing.

He almost immediately lost his sense of direction as a brush against the deck induced a torque that sent him spinning. Jacen managed to keep his lunch in, before the computerised suit used its micro thrusters to stabilise him with a thousand minor impulses. The HUD highlighted the port before him and Jacen simply allowed the suit to guide itself in. No need to put his pride before efficiency. Besides, it took him a few seconds to convince his mind that one direction was “down”, and even then it wasn’t entirely convinced.

Reaching out, he clamped his fingers about the nearest handhold. Magnetic pads on his boots and forearms gave him grip and he eased himself down the tunnel, following the directions on the HUD from the pre-loaded map. After a distance they started to enter the fringes of the artificial gravity field. Unfortunately it was the opposite direction to the one he’d convinced himself was “down”. He dry heaved for a few moments before continuing.

“Where are we coming out again?” he asked Master Karr

Given their fake identities, Nefertari figured they would be fine just waltzing in the front door so to speak.
Having given an outfit to Zak and Mark in place of their Jedi robes. Wouldn't want to so easily blow their cover would they?
Livery on a little Nautolan. Have you ever considered such a thing?
At least the two shined up nicely, their aliases were nearly foolproof.

They were currently waiting for clearance to dock. Even for some shady operation the security was still good.
The countess noticed something off about her "cousin's" outward disguise, but she couldn't quite put her finger on it...

Then she approached and undid a single button.
"Top sometimes, middle always, bottom never" She advised him
Not that any of the thugs on the space station would know that, but Nefertari couldn't help but want to make their cover look flawless. They weren't supposed to fight unless necessary, and a powerful foe could mean trouble.

This was skrog.

This was farkled skrog.

This was some FARKLED. KRIFFING. SKROG.

The little Nautolan just stood there, his body tense. His shoulders hunched, head lowered as he pouted and fumed in obvious displeasure at the selection of wardrobe. The livery was a colorful tabard, which was dressed over a tunic that was decoared in elaborate patterns and bright colors. His head tails were also tied back with a neat little bow, as though they formed part of a ponytail. There were stockings adorning his legs, at the ends of which were penny-loafer style shoes.

He looked ridiculous.

More to the point, there was no way he could go swimming in this. And if something wasn't made to go in the water, then it wasn't made to go on him. All-in-all, not a garment made with the active young aquatic child in mind.

This is what made the Sith look appealing. Did you see any acoyltes dressed up like this was medieval times? Noooooooo....

He didn't know how. He didn't know when. But revenge was coming for this.

This wasn't pretend servitude, this was child abuse.

And some poodoo.

Zak obviously was not having a good time. Of course, his livery hadn't been made with swimsuit fabric or anything like that. Not that swimming was any real possibility on a space station...
Hadn't the countess agreed to pay him a wage for this? Indeed, she had. What was fair Nefertari wondered...she didn't really know what papa had paid the servants before he fired most of them and started using droids. But that was another story, for another time.
For her padawan...8 credits an hour seemed reasonable. She knew his allowance per week was about 5.

Lady Nefertari took her "footman" aside for a moment.
"I will permit you to request your wages later. For now, I shall pay you your first. Perhaps me paying you again at the enterance would show any guards that I can actually afford to bid...not that I would make a purchase from those punks."

Nef drew two coins from her dress and dropped them into Zak's hand, totalling his hourly wage.

A voice came over the comm
"Clearance granted, go 'head an' dock"

Excellent

The ship docked with the space station, now came the next challenge: infiltration

[ooc: sorry I forgot all about this thread!]

The cold of space washed over Kian as they cross the short, yet seemingly long distance, between the vessel and their entry point. Then Jacen was talking to him as they entered the facility.

"We will be coming out in a supply depot." Kian said grabbing a hold of the metal frame in front of him and slicing into the terminal besides it. It took a few moments, but they were quickly within and moving through the facilities ventilation system. It wouldn't be long. Turning down one corridor in the ventilation system, the vents began to get cramp as they split off into various directions and got tighter, though they still allowed for the two to walk crouched.

"If we're lucky, it won't be to active this time of day and we can make our wait, silently, toward the security hub." Kian added as he came to a vent cover at their feet. Leaning down, Kian placed a hand on the vent and closed his eyes, focusing on the room beneath them. He felt several presences in the room below and while none felt hostile, he knew they couldn't afford to be seen by them. Reaching into one of the pouches on his utility belt, Kian pulled out a small, circular ball and slipped it through the vent. He dropped it but held the ball in the force so that it only dropped a few inches.

Pulling his datapad out with his other hand he pressed a key and the screen lit up with an image of what was going on in the room below. Kian could see those he had felt in the force. They were workers, busy taking care of their day-to-day duties and none seemed to be paying any attention to this corner of the room. Recalling the ball back through the vent, Kian returned it to his belt.

"We go in quietly." Kian said nodding to the Jedi before him and carefully, and as quietly as possible, pulled the vent cover back. "You first."

[member="Kian Karr"]

Jacen paused at the threshold. He could see the backs of two of the workers from here, but even his limited senses alerted him to the presence of more. Trust yourself, trust the Force! He told himself. For a few moments, he waited there, motionless. Then, acting on instinct he stepped out into the room, landing silently, before turning to his right and moving out of sight. The soldier did not rush, he just followed the will of the force as he padded to his hiding place. Not a moment later, one of the workers turned and walked obliviously past the open vent. Trust in the Force, yeah, he repeated to himself. Yet still his hand itched for the stun blaster at his belt.

Looking back to the open vent, from behind the data server, Jacen could just about make out the silhouette of the Kel Dor Master. He sure as hell hoped Kian had a more relaxed exit strategy.
