Raiding the Watch (Clan Shado)

Fenrir picked up his axe. "Manda awaits!" Today he would send her many souls and she would judge all of the Dar'manda with a righteous fury. Fenrir trusted his Vod and he knew they trusted him. It would be a blood bath. [member="Adrian Shado"]

"I'll scout out ahead and I'll use comms to give you guys any intel I think is notable." He hit the switch on the door and began sprinting down the tundra path surveying his surroundings. It was absolutely freezing. It was the exact opposite of his home planet. He had never known of such harsh winds. Atleast his sprinting kept him warm.

He stopped to find a vantage point. He pulled put his grappling hook and shot it to a nearby icy cliff. It hauled him up as he sat and took a breather and looked around. It was not long before he saw a pair of Deathwatch grunts coming down the path. "Two moof-milkers coming my way. Let them pass or take them out quietly. Your call." Xhernai whispered into the comms link.

Cerasi felt the hot sting of embarrassment flood her cheeks. She had pretty just been reprimanded by her own brother. Why was he mad at her? What was there to be mad about? She was trying to protect him, make him the most important piece in this game. Now she was getting punished for it. "Fine." She bit back the bitterness in her words. She slammed her hands against her helmet, making one more statement, before picking it up. She pushed away from the table, slipping on her helmet as Jezza gave her a reassuring squeeze. Returning to her strong and silent persona, she merely gave the other woman a nod. She hoped her T-visor would hide the tears that were building up in the corners of her eyes.

She made her way onto the planet, immediately turning and slamming her hand into the hull of the ship. "Di'kutla." She snapped at herself. She was so mad at herself. She spoke out in the meeting, got scolded in front of everyone, and now she was acting like a child. If only she was more like Jezza. She could see the way Michael looked at the alor'ad, they way he treated her. If Cerasi was more like Jezza, she'd be loveable right?

Xhernai grew bored and hopped down from the cliff almost silently pulling out his vibroknife and grappling hook. The two Deathwatch grunts had walked under the cliff unaware of the young bounty hunter. He crept up behind them. They were chatting in Mandalorian which was totally foreign to him. He raised his grappling hook and fired it at the first guards head, impaling a large hook in helmet which had certainly pierced his skull. As the other grunt had turned Xhernai raised his vibroknife and threw it at him hitting him in his neck leaving blood gushing out as he fell to the floor. He heard a noise from the guards as he collected his hook and vibroknife. It was radio chatter. Again he couldn't understand Mandalorian. Xhernai spoke into his comms link. "Two tangos down, got two radios here. It sounds like the Mando you speak. I'll wait for your arrival and take out any incoming insurgents."

Not exactly thrilled to be left behind, Jezza went to work reviewing all the information she had available. She heard Xhernai's request for direction on handling the grunts. His not waiting for the answer, surprised her none. She smirked and shook her head slightly, Xhernai had earned her respect and understanding. He was a good fit with the clan, if she could find a way to convince him to stay and help the others see him as she did. "Xhernai, did you hear enough to be able to repeat any of it??" It did worry her slightly that he had to make his own call, Michael had not responded since leaving the ship, come to think about it...Xhernai was the only one she had heard from since they left. "Comm check everyone, I want to verify locations and that everything is operating as it should."

"Everything alright Jezza? Everything is going to plan for me. Just awaiting orders from whoever. I heard a little bit from the chatter. Excuse my pronunciation. I think I heard 'Akaata'? I'm not sure. " Xhernai said into the comms link. "It's freezing here. Do you need me to come back?"

"Xhernai, proceed as planned for now. Everything is fine as far as I know, but I haven't heard from the others in a while. Akaata means battalion, watch yourself and keep me updated." Refusing to give in to the worry that was her nature, Jezza waited nervously for the others to check in.

Things began to move, Xhernai was scouting while the two muscle bound walls moved as well, probably berserking. Cerasi on the other hand needed guidance, and Michael wasn't sure if he was capable of being able to give her what she needed, a touch of compassion. Feelings, and emotions weren't something the man thought about a lot, sure he had them, and he understood them, but to sit there, and think deeply on them, that wasn't Michael.

The alor walked out next to her, and gently placed a hand on her shoulder. It was no secret she was upset.

"Hey, let's go...also I have something to talk about while we get there."

"Someone talk to me or if give me something to do. I'm freezing my shebs off." He spoke into the comms link. "For now I'll advance until I see the towers. That's when I'll analyse the place and wait for your orders." Xhernai got up and began walking down the path, tightly squeezing his pendant in his hand

Hearing Xhernai's comment, Jezza responded "Xhernai, continue advancing and keep me updated. I am not sure what is going on with the others. I haven't heard from any of them yet." Trying to keep the worry out of her voice took all the self control she could muster. Why were the others not communicating, what was happening out there?? Was her aliit OK?? Damn Michael for leaving her here to pace and wonder and not be able to do anything!!

"Jezza. Forget about everyone else. Are YOU ok? If you keep panicking like that, we might not be hearing from you for a long time." said Xhernai is his comms link. He cared for Jezza as she was most likely the only one who cared about him, even though they had only met a few days ago. Xhernai broke into a sprint to raise his pulse and keep warm, keeping an eye out for anything notable. "What is everybody else doing? I feel like I'm the only working for my credits here." Xhernai said through pants of breath.

"Difference in panic and concern... Thank you very much" she replied, using the sassy tone she found comfortable with him. Xhernai was correct, much as she hated to admit it. The young bounty hunter had more courage than sense sometimes but he had a way about him that put her at ease. "Alright Utreekov, keep moving forward, tell me what you have encountered so far... besides a whole lotta snow and freezing shebs." Jezza knew he would recognize what would normally be an insult as the sign of affection it was meant to be. "and don't you dare disappear on me too"

Xhernai smiled and said "It's not that I mind it, but you still haven't told me what an 'Utreekov' is, so think I'll start calling you Bantha until I get a definition. Tell you what, I'll pick up a diamond or two from here since you can't come and get one of your own." Xhernai stopped to wipe his visor as it was clouding up. He then carried on running.
"There better be drinks when I get back."

Cerasi felt a hand on her shoulder and she jumped, surprised at the sudden touch. She turned, staring at her brother with sad, hidden eyes. He had something to talk to her about. She tensed up. She did not want to get scolded again. It made her think back to the time she was a youngling, getting scolded for breaking a window while playing. "Yes, Michael." She sighed before she turned and started heading towards their destination.

"I didn't mean it, you know." She blurted out, letting her heart talk instead of her head. "He just hasn't accepted our ways. I don't know why you're doing this." Tears suddenly sprung to her eyes, sliding down her cheeks. She reached under her helmet to wipe them away. Was Michael replacing her with this guy? Why was she thinking such harsh things, it was impossible.

Trying to keep her worry for Cerasi and Michael at bay, Jezza focused on her banter with Xhernai. "Bantha, huh... Complete the mission, come back in one piece and you will not only get your definition, I will supply drinks as well." Jezza grinned as she replied, "and don't forget my diamonds."
Her thoughts turned to Cerasi, Jezza had noticed her vods attempt to hide her tears. Cerasi held a special place in Jezza's heart and it had been way too long since they had been able to chat privately. Jezza knew how sensitive Cerasi was where her relationship with Michael was concerned. Jezza hoped that undertaking their portion of this mission together would strengthen their bond and give Cerasi the reassurance she desired.
Right now, being out in the freezing cold with Xhernai would be preferable to this sit and wait position that was driving Jezza stir crazy.

"Don't you worry 'bout your diamonds Bantha, if there's drinks for me back their then I'll bring the whole mine with me." Xhernai said into the comms link. He was getting closer to the mine knew it. He wanted to do the whole thing by himself, as he often overestimated his abilities but he knew he was on Michael's leash. His word was law, his people would tear him to shreds. Xhernai could take out a few but they almost have an army of elite mercenaries.

He'd finally reached the mine entrance. Taking cover behind a rock he analysed the surroundings. The Intel was off. There wasn't supposed to be anyone here until they entered the mine near the towers. "Michael, your Intel is off. There's about 30 Deathwatch troops here and they seem to be expecting a fight. I'll await your backup."

It was hard to understand the way the man thought as his mind was always moving to the next thing, only to come back five thoughts later and continue on what it was he was thinking about originally. But this meant these ideas, and thoughts evolved constantly, and that this was just what it meant to be human. For the most part, Michael wasn't a nice person, nor did he care about others and their feelings, but he had to switch that around when he became alor of clan Shado.

All of this was very new to him, and yet he adapted as such, quickly placing himself last while the others came first.

Being human, it was easy, and yet difficult at the same time, so as Cerasi spoke, and he could only but understand all too well why she was feeling the way she did.

His hand reached out and took hers as he squeezed his gently.

"He will learn, like we all did. Let us not focus on who is doing what, but what we are doing for others."

Before she could respond to Xhernai's comment, she heard his assessment of the mine. As of yet, no one but Xhernai had communicated through their comm links to update locations or additional Intel, her worry turning to frustration. Here she was stuck on this ship, with no way to know what was going on or ability to help and everyone had gone completely silent other than the bounty hunter. "Xhernai, sit tight, do not move until you have back up. Michael, Cerasi, Fenrir... If any of you can hear me, a response would be nice before all of you end up walking into a trap. There are a minimum of 30 Deathwatch Troops waiting on you to get there." Jezza rarely got angry, but right now her fear and worry were in overdrive and anger was much preferable to either.

"Roger that." He sat behind a rock awaiting for further instructions. He pulled out his GL-77 and gripped it tightly as he surveyed the enemies. It would be better if he could go to an elevated position but he thought he should wait for backup this time before doing anything.

"Xhernai, if the opportunity appears for better positioning to get Intel, take it. Be cautious about it though, no sense in turning this into a suicide mission. Keep me posted." Jezza's tone had changed to one she rarely used. At this point, the others were not communicating, it was up to her to step in and take control. This was a position she rarely found herself in and tried to avoid, but right now she had little choice. "Xhernai, until we hear from the others, I can only assume the success of this mission falls on us. I need all the information you can safely get me. Understood?"
