Rainbow Gem for a Friend

Kafh-en-ma-nofre stood in his quarters of The Bastion. His quarters were kept very clean. What was he doing? Gearing up for a small journey into some remote planet called Gallinore. The planet was known for their rainbow gems, extremely expensive multicolored glowing gems. Kafh shook his head, he shouldn't have left Thiavi's diamond back on Tattooine. Well it wasn't his fault he didn't want to get shot. Kafh sighed as he pulled on a black shirt. As he walked out of his quarters he grabbed his backpack with all the essentials he needed. He looked around the ship for his fellow crew mates. They must've been doing their own thing, he asked Kahlil to make a pit stop luckily he agreed.

"I'm heading out for a bit, going to do a bit of devotion to the gods." Kafh said, hoping the excuse was enough. "I'll be back tomorrow." He said as he made his way to the boarding ramp. As he exited the ship he'd look up to the sky. It was Dawn so he had the day to make the trek to the mountains, his goal? Explore the caves get the gem and hopefully not run into any firedrakes.

Mostly because he didn't have a blaster pistol or a lightsaber, he'd have to make due with just the Force. Good practice he guessed. Kafh-en-ma-nofre set out, heading into the forest that boarded a set of mountains, he was sure he'd find a cave somewhere around there. He instantly felt the mugginess of the air around him, it was going to be a long day.

"Gods keep your watchful eyes on me..." He said quietly.

"Alright, take care kafh" thiavi waved to him on the way. she'd returned to her quarters to work on a project, but a thought came over her. What if kafh got himself into trouble? he didn't really trust his "gods" nor the "force" to really do much, so why not send k3?

"Kebo, go with him, will you? I don't think lifting pebbles is going to do much if he runs into anyone" she laughed lightly.

"Then I shall life bigger rocks for him" he stated confidently and then marched off to join kafh, catching up with him a few minutes later.

"sir, the mistress has asked me to escort you" he says as he nears kafh. "I trust that you're comfortable with artificial assistance? amaryllis was less inclined to my presence"

Kafh just entered the treeline when he heard a robotic voice behind him. He jumped, taken completely off guard by the large Droid. He let out a breath of releif when he realized it was Kebo. He gave a smile to Thiavi's robot companion. "That's very nice of her. I appreciate the assistance Kebo." Kafh said as he nodded his head. He looked around. They weren't that far into the forest and Kafh could already feel the mosquitos tearing into him.

He looked over to Kebo and motioned for the Droid to follow. "Come on. I told the crew I was going to do some religious stuff, but I'm actually going to get this gem, it's native only to this planet, it's a rainbow Gem, supposed to be really expensive." He told the Droid. "By the way, you can call me Kafh, no need for formalities, we're equals." Kafh said with a grin. The mountains were a few miles away so it was a bit of a hike, then they'd have to find a cave guarded by firedrakes...he let out a sigh. He was actually relieved to have Kebo with him.

"So Kebo, tell me about yourself." He said as he continued to walk.

"Equals?" He processed this new information for a moment. "I am sorry for you, being an artificial butler, bodyguard and robotic nanny is difficult"
weather that was sarcasm or the droid's logical systems weren't up to date, would forever remain an mystery.

"Treasure hunting are we? should be entertaining to organics such as yourself. As for myself..." He hadn't expected for anyone to ask about him, it seemed that the organics had taken an interest in him, what joy!

"I am K-3B0, Security and asset protection. KX-series security model, manufactured by arakyd industries. current data banks suggest unauthorized tampering and Neglect, Including: Cosmetic changes unauthorized by coruscant security and imperial command, Tampering with loyalty and asset data, unauthorized additional programming, tampering with personality modules and learning algorithms, and 20 years worth of missed memory wipes. Is there anything else you wish to know, Kafh-en-ma-nofre?"

Kafh laughed dryly as Kebo said he felt forty for Kafh. The Droid took what he said in a logical Manor. Kafh should have known. The young man continued to walk throught the dense forest, slowing his pace down enough for Kebo to keep up. Kafh gave a smile to the KX series Droid. "I assume it will be, plus it's nice to get out every now and then, the Galaxy has many beautiful things to offer." He remarked when Kebo brought up treasure hunting.

Kebo then launched into detail about himself. Kafh smiled, the KX security Droid seemed more than happy to tell Kafh about himself. Kebo informed the Ex-Slave what type of model he was, and a list of tamperings that happened to his systems. Kafh smirked. That must've been Thiavi's doing, Kafh smiled as Kebo asked if there was anything else, nearly laughing as the Droid used his full name.

"Do you like your new current paintjob? Does it make you feel...uh unique?" Kafh asked. He paused for a second. "And do you have any questions for me friend?"

The woodwork was definitely getting more sense indicating that the duo were deep into the forest by now.

"Hm judging by my observations earlier, the mountains should be a couple more miles west of here...which direction is west?" He asked Kebo as he came to a stop.

He didn't reslly comment on the planet's appearance. By organic standards it seemed.. aesthetic? the droid wasn't exactly programmed for judging art or appearances, If thiavi was as good at making modifications as she'd like to be, maybe one day he would. but, funnily enough, most of these modifications were made by a previous owner, though he had failed to bring up that part, as he had been distracted with a diagnostics report.

Then Kafh asked him what he thought of his paint, something no one had really asked him before, something he hadn't thought about. thought? an interesting word for a droid.

"Unique?" he pauses for a moment, cycling through memory, comparing images of other KX-series he had seen. He pulls up holo images in front of him, cycling through at rapid pace.

"Accessing image memory banks...

Black chassis, Gold Imperial signia. AH, This droid is simi-unique, a distinguished KX-series security droid, awarded a golden imperial insignia on the shoulder.

New filter: Red. None. none. none... none... n-" No? no red? there were no red KX-series in his data banks. a quick process informed him that red was not a market color either, and the chances of finding another crimson KX-security droid, with simulated gold accents was approximately:

"...None..? There are no droids like me?" He pauses for a moment, letting the question linger for awhile longer as he attempts to process. "Confirmed" He looks up and turns to kafh. "I am. Unique."

After another short pause, his internal compass kicks in, and he suddenly snaps to the direction kafh had requested, extending one arm and pointing west.

"New heading, West, according to galinore magnetic north. I do have one question Kafh-en-ma-nofre: Why do you seek a rainbow gem?"

[member="Kafh-en-ma-nofre"]

Kafh could tell the Droid was processing what he had said. Soon Kebo pulled up Holo images, quickly sifting through data. Accessing his memorybanks. Kafh watched in amazement as he listed off many KX series droids and their paint jobs before ultimately finding that he was unique. "That is something to be proud of. You're you." Kafh smiled. Kebo found out which direction was west, Kafh smiled he was glad Thiavi decided to send her Droid, he would've been lost without it.

Of course he could of had the Force lead him, but that was just a fall back plan. Kafh heard Kebo's question and tilted his head to the treetops.

"Well, it's to repay [member="Thiavi"] for losing her diamond. Since I don't fancy going back to Tattooine I figured this would be easier. But to be honest I am not sure." Kafh said thoughtful as he brought his gaze back down to the forest. He turned west and began heading in that direction, they should be arriving at the mountains soon.

He wasn't sure? Why did organics make decisions without knowing why? This was beyond his understanding, so he'd have to focus on what he did understand.

"Confirmed. I, am me. However, Pride is a concept beyond my current understanding, suggest further software upgrades, I will study your organic concepts further, in due time.
Now on to the task at hand, you seek this gem as a replacement for a diamond, which you claim was lost, one which the young mistress previously owned? It is unwise to lose her things, She gets terribly upset and then things change color around her"

He processed information on the gem for a moment. "May I suggest carrying the gem in something for safe keeping? Were I currently aware of the item's size, I would be able to make further suggestions as to what to contain it in. Do you know the approximate size of the item? or, for that matter, how the item must be obtained? my programming no longer forbids the illegal acquisition of items so long as I am given permission from an approved organic entity, allowing me further versatility in the acquisition of materials and currencies, sir"

[member="Kafh-en-ma-nofre"]

"Don't Worry Kebo, Thiavi won't be mad much longer, not when I get this gem at least. He said as he continued to trek through the foliage. Kafh was sure they were almost to the mountains. The only problem being the firedrakes. He was brought out of his thoughts when he heard Kebo speak.

He smiled warmly to Kebo. "About that...I plan on only taking a gem that's about 5 or 6 centimeters in length, a couple in width. I know not as big as the diamond but these things are worth a lot. I don't want to offend my gods by being greedy." He paused. I'm fairly certained they have to be mined. And the caves most likely are guarded by a few firedrakes. Luckily for us the cave is abandoned. So no need to steal." He said with a smile.

"Im planing on making a necklace out of it. Don't tell Thiavi of course. That way she can't lose it like I did." Kafh said with a laugh. He continued to walk. "Dont worry, for your help how does an oil bath sound? I'm sure you deserve one." Kafh asked.

"I see. A necklace, in theory, should be harder to lose than the gem alone. Good, You can avoid future paint jobs more easily"

K-3B0 continued listen for a time, attempting to process information regarding these "fire drakes", something he had never seen before, and was never added to his databanks, as he was stationed on coruscant.

"What are firedrakes? This unit has not yet encountered "fire drakes", I myself do not burn as quickly as organics, but I worry for you sir" he says, assuming firedrakes to, well, have something to do with fire.

"Will they be upset when we remove the gem?"

[member="Kafh-en-ma-nofre"]

"Thats the plan. Kebo." Kafh said with a smirk. Kebo then asked another question, this time about the Firedrakes Kafh was silent for a moment, pushing away various branched as they continued to walk. "I myself only know what I've heard. They come out after the sun sets. Hunt in packs and are bioluminescent. I think we'd do best to avoid them. Luckily I think we'll make it to the mountains way before nightfall." Kafh said honestly.

"I'm thinking we can sneak in when the go out to hunt. Just a thought. Like you said you can take more damage than I can." Kafh said as the continued.

"Affirmative, We must stay on schedule than" After thinking up a few possible scenarios, K3 decided it would be best if they didn't spend too much time away from the ship.
He tries to get ahead of kafh a bit, using his long arms and droid strength to rip away, snap, and otherwise move branches and vegetation in their path.

"Are you armed sir? I can provide assistance of course, but multiple opponents can be difficult to manage and one may slip past if they begin targeting you in numbers"
