DESCRIPTION
The REC-PWL/01 "Harbinger" - Pattern Adaptable Warhead Launcher was the newest addition to the Republic Engineering Corporation’s ever-growing arsenal of military hardware. There were a plethora of warhead launchers on the market, so the design team that was in charge of their Company’s newest creation was tasked with making their weapon truly unique amongst the masses. To that end, they spent countless hours researching the competition, to see what they’d need to eventually surmount when they created their own version. What they found was that many of these shoulder-mounted platforms required specialized munitions, often provided by the same companies that provided the launchers. Or, they could only fire a certain type of munition, whilst the other variants languished in their crates.

Therefore, it was those aforementioned factors that the design team sought to challenge. They wanted to create a shoulder-mounted weapons platform that wasn't solely designed to fire a single line of branded munitions. It was their desire to have a missile launcher that would fire all manner of warheads, not just missiles. To do this, the barrel and loading mechanism needed to be flexible and entirely adaptable. So, through the use of mass-driver technology and the advanced manipulation of gravity, via built-in repulsorlift technologies, the soon-to-be-named warhead launcher would be capable of firing all sorts of ungodly munitions - bringing death to their enemies from afar. Especially, if the operator achieved target lock on their - hopefully - distant target.

When it came to the launcher’s capabilities, there was an interesting quirk that was entirely dependent on how the weapons platform was used. Such as the differences between discharging a warhead without sighting the target - more colloquially known as dumbfiring - or taking the time to sight a target and acquire a target-lock. While the former method of launching projectiles was absolutely grand against stationary or slow-moving targets - there was a significant reduction in range, and could be easily avoided by more nimble prey. To counteract the likelihood of success when pitted against speedy foes, the “Harbinger” was outfitted with a Gravity Activated Mode - or Gravity-tracking.

This aforementioned mode was attuned to the pre-programmed gravity silhouettes created by various vehicles, including starships that elected to enter the atmosphere. Not only did this mean the missile was capable of tracking their assigned target, but through the various technologies woven into the shoulder-mounted launcher’s structure - those warheads would be capable of striking their target from farther away. This process was achieved through the combination of mass-driver technology and miniaturized repulsorfield generators, which were capable of accelerating the warhead to greater distances - before their own methods of propulsion took over. However, one of the greatest drawbacks of the weapon’s design was the munitions themselves. If they weren’t capable of being paired to a target’s signature, then, sadly the missile would be forcibly discharged using the dumbfire settings.

Despite this, the technicians believed that any faults with their weapon would be found only in the munitions it discharged, rather than the shoulder-mounted platform itself. Thus, should any issues arise on the battlefield because of warheads purchased outside of the Republic Engineering Corporation? Well, then they wouldn’t have to worry about any claims of refunds, nor any lawsuits that may arise.
