Red's First Adventure (Sinya)

[member="Sinya'olan"]

A few days after being recruited by Valiens Nantaris, Sinya'olan had been left to her own devices in the orbital stations above Dac. Oh, she was checked in with every few hours by one of the crew, but she'd been given credits and access to whatever she needed.

After a couple of days of this Nantaris called his new protoge and asked her to return to the Liberator.

"I've got a doozy of a mission for us, Sinya, I think you'll like it," he told her over the comm. "Join me in briefing room and we'll go over it together with my officers."

Sinya walked down a series of hallways to her quarters. The past few days had been refreshing, having the ability to do anything she wanted, mostly, was a welcome gift.

She didn't stop practicing with two sabers, the weight, or lack there of, caught her off guard during her training session with Nantaris, something she didn't want to have happen when her opponents were planning on killing her.

She strapped her mothers saber to her left hip and another to her right, it was match easier to walk with these at least. Grabbing her cloak, she strode out of her room and up toward the briefing room.

Upon entering she gave some small greetings and head nods to the officers then turned her attention to her master.

"A doozy you say master, I am intrigued," greeting him with a small smile. She had a feeling any mission with this group would be a doozy!

(!!! <_< I totally dropped the ball here. You should have PM'ed me, I thought it was your post!)

Nantaris was waiting for her in the conference room. Scindia and his other anonymous NPC officers were there also.
“Thank you for joining us here, Sinya. Ladies, gentlemen, I present to you our target….”
After a dramatic pause he activated a holomap. There, on an otherwise unremarkable world, was an ancient base.
“Planet doesn’t have a name. But whilst I was scouting recently for any colonisable planets in the area I came across this. Examination shows that it is over 850 years old – it’s a Techno Union facility from the Clone Wars. What’s more, it’s still active. When the probe went in for a closer look it was shot down by base defences. I want us to go in and loot the place.”
He looked to Sinya. “Do you think you can handle coming in the first wave, or would you prefer to hang back?”

Sinya knew little of the Techno Union, just some passing gossip from travelers when she danced. She did, however, know enough about history to know that the Techno Union ended up on the wrong side of things.

"Droids right? Well that's what we should expect on the ground at least?" She didn't wait for an answer, "I would be more than happy to prove my skill is worth having on the ship, first wave for me."

She didn't want to show her concerns, I mean it is nearly 1,000 years old, it has probably automatic production that for some reason has gone unnoticed... her thoughts trailed off. She was plenty confident in her abilites to handle anything, she just hoped that anything wasn't anything more than some droids right now.

She grinned, trying not to betray her thoughts. As far as she knew everyone was thinking the same anyway, "So what's the plan?"

Nantaris looked pleased that his red Twi’lek apprentice was so eager.

“I don’t want to go in too crazy. These clone wars era tech is old but it’s still dangerous. If you’re up for it we’ll go in this back passage here. Scindia will land on the plain here and give us some covering fire and distraction at the main entrance. Myr will come with us so she can help slice this archaic tech.”

“You just want to get two of us alone, don’t you?” Myr asked with a grin at her fellow Twi’lek.

“Guilty as charged,” Nantaris said with laugh. “Any questions?”

[member="Valiens Nantaris"]

Sinya laughed, "At least he'll have enough lekku for him to make it through."

"I do have a question, not about the plan here but about...well why would this still be running, just because it can?" she figured might as well air it out now, see if there was even an assumption outside of what she thought was obvious automatic facilities. Maybe some second rate slaver or tyrant wanna-be looking for an easy to access army.

Once she heard what everyone knew she was ready to set down.

“It might be just enough,” Nantaris conceded.

Scindia answered her more serious question. “Droids don’t have a lifespan as we know it. If this planet has ores and products they need and they have a factory on site they can conceivably continue for thousands of years. All they do is replace old parts with new ones.”

Nantaris’ answer was considerably more blunt. “Because droids are stupid. They’ll do what they’re programmed for until the end of time. These ones were told to prepare for the war and defend the base, so they will…forever.”

“We came across a facility deep underground once which had droids from thousands of years ago. They were still cleaning the base and repairing it even though the owners had long since died,” Scindia added.

“Aye. Any other questions?”

"Endless cleaning, sounds like a fun life," she answered back jokingly.

She shook her head and looked around the room to see if anyone else had anything to add. It didn't appear to be the case.

"Alright lets see how nice a welcome party they throw us."

The planet, when they arrived, was an uninspiring brown colour. In the docking bay of the Liberator, a sleek shuttle waited for them, set apart from the more regular gunships and transports the rest would use.

Myr took the pilot’s seat, Nantaris the co-pilot and Sinya was left to take the navigator’s chair.
“Atmosphere is type 2, very thin, so keep a rebreather with you in case you need it. Try to stay out of the sun as much as possible,” Nantaris advised.

With a jolt they were off and heading down towards the surface. The other Ranger ships were making a show of landing some distance in front of the facility, from where ancient droid defences were firing at them, but doing little damage.

“Distraction is working. Get ready, red, we’re going in,” Nantaris told her, holding on as Myr navigated a hail of flak.

Her heart was pumping, she hadn't been able to sink her blades into anything since joining up with Nantaris and his crew. Her blades itched for some droids.

Myr passed through the anit-air with hardly a nick on the ship, "Smooth flying sister," she said, noting the small party of droids starting to pile up at their back passage, no more than fifteen or twenty.

"Looks like they did have a welcome party for us," Sinya joked as the shuttle landed, it's ramp opening up for them to exit. She was out of her chair before they hit the dirt.

When she saw the other two following behind her she called back, "I'll start this party, our host seem anxious." A few poorly shot blasters seemed to fortify her statement.

She dashed down the ramp and reached inside her cloak, pulling out her lightsabers . With a flick they both pulsed on, her mothers purple in her right hand and one of the blue extras she picked up from the ship in her left. A few moments later she was meeting the front line of the droids, slashing and dancing her way through, Myr and Nantaris close behind.

Nantaris’ green blade activated and he advanced beside Sinya. Myr came behind, taking cover where needed to snipe droids who were looking to flank the pair.
The Jedi Master noted that Sinya was well trained for a Padawan, but even so he didn’t want her shot down if she became overwhelmed.

“Cover me, I’ll gain the door,” he told her, indicating the rear entry. Without waiting for a reply he leapt into the air, coming down with a blast of Force energy which knocked the droids in the vicinity to the ground. Then he was up and hacking his way through to the door, drawing the enemy’s attention so that Sinya was not the main recipient of enemy fire.

It was over quickly enough. Three dozen battledroids littered the ground, as useless now as they’d ever been…but this was just the start!

OOC: Sorry for the delay, things got a little crazy over here

The trio walked through the door, keeping on guard as they navigated a small maze of hallways and doors through the facility.

"Quite a forcefully use of the force out there," Sinya whispered with a small grin, even if the joke was pretty lame.

She let Nantaris lead the way, he probably had a better idea of the layout of these places and surely he at least knew how to shut the place down.

After a couple more moments she asked "Should I assume sticking a lightsaber in a computer won't shut this place down? Too easy perhaps?"

Nantaris shook his head gently.
“That was a bad joke, Red, even for me,” he chided her, then grinned. “I’m sure you’ll get better at the quips as you go. It’s one of the steps of becoming a Jedi is the ability to insert a witty one-liner into the mix and still be the action hero.”

Myr just rolled her eyes.

They came to the computer bank, and Myr set to work. “Clone Wars era stuff is almost too old. No one uses this stuff anymore. Still, I can make it happen.”
With a data spike in hand she inserted it and began tapping away furiously.

However, before she could be finished, there came the clank of metal feet behind her, and a squad of battle droids appeared and opened fire.
Nantaris and Sinya would take station to protect Myr as she worked.

Sinya spun and flicked her purple saber up, knocking back a shot into the squad of incoming droids, downing one. She spotted some debris off to one side and used the force to toss some smaller pieces into the back, aiming as well as she could for the thinner necks so to cause havoc in the droid ranks.

The blasters continued their cadence as the jedi and the lethan continued to deflect shots back and cut down anything that got to close.

Sinya thought she heard heavier steps coming behind the droids, either that meant more battle droids or something that could cause more problems such as the B2 droids she read about.

"Oh sister, I do love getting shot at but if you don't mind...please hurry!" Sinya shouted back to Myr, deflecting a shot that would have hit the blue Twi'lek then barely avoiding another.

[member="Sinya'olan"]
“Getting there!” Myr said tersely in reply, ducking as a blaster bolt sizzled nearby.
Nantaris meanwhile unleashed a blast of Force energy which bowled droids over, but there were always more.
Worse, there was a clanking and rolling as Droidekas appeared and began their salvos of fire. Nantaris stepped in front of Sinya to shield her, but even he was forced back by the Destroyer’s firepower.

Just when it seemed that the Jedi Master would have to do something drastic Myr let out a little cheer.
Abruptly the droids in the area stopped their attack and fell silent. Nantaris took advantage of the brief disruption to account for the Destroyers whilst Sinya presumably dealt with the battle droids.

“I’ve got the information. There’s a high security vault in the lowest level – that’s what this facility is guarding. The droids are only going to be offline briefly, so we need to hurry!”

Nantaris nodded. “Come on, girls, let’s go.” He brought up his communicator. “Scindia, we’ve disrupted the droids briefly. Move in and take them out, we’re heading for the lowest levels. Be warned though, they might come online again at any time.”

Sinya finished taking care of the now defunct battle droids before falling into line behind the other two.

Droids lined the hallways, no longer active but could become a threat again at any moment, noone of them knew how long they would remain offlline. Sinya slice some down every now and again, keeping her eyes peeled for the slightest movement from behind or the sides.

"Any ideas what we might come across in that vault, riches or...well something keeping us from them?" she asked as the group continued to speed through the facility, down into the depths below.

[member="Sinya'olan"]
“I don’t know for sure,” Myr said. “The information on the vault was limited. The vault itself is on a separate link, independent power, everything. The only thing I saw mentioned was a codename ‘Reaver’. That doesn’t sound nice.”

Adding to the list of not nice things, the surviving droids started to twitch, evidently the shutdown was not permanent, and they were starting to wake up again.

However, they soon reached the vault, a very tall door, as thick as one would suppose. However, there was a terminal which Myr gained access to. In moments she was able to open the door.

Nantaris had thought it was going too easily until the door slammed behind them. In the chamber within there was suddenly a clanking and grinding.

“Intruder detected. State authorisation word. You have ten seconds.”

An immense droid reared up, looking down on them with weapons evidently primed.

“Uhh…I have a bad feeling about this,” Nantaris muttered, reaching for his lightsabre.

(OCC: The droid giraffe =P)

"That is....whoa," Sinya said in awe. The droid easily filled from floor to near ceiling. It seemingly had weapons popping out of every possible location.

She readied herself, wating for her companions to make a move, unless one of them happened to know the password.

Her lightsabers came to life, "Unless you guys are holding out I have a feeling the authorization code might be a blaster shot and saber swing."

As the massive machine loomed over them, Nantaris was not thinking too much about the absurd look of the machine. Rather, he was much more concerned with the massive weapons aimed at them. He could certainly avoid it for a while, deflect more, but how long could it go on? He had to hit every time, all the droid needed was for him to miss once.

“Ah…password. Right, uhh, cease! Desist! Uhh…”

“Engage Protocol 0216. Shutdown,” Myr called out, crouched over her datapad.

“Protocol accepted. Shutdown initiated,” the droid stated. Ponderously, it knelt back down on the floor and lowered its head.

Nantaris’ hands trembled ever so slightly as he deactivated his lightsabre. “Good work, Myr…good…good work,” he said.

“Hey, it’s why I’m here. You OK?” she asked Sinya as she came over to join them. “Can we keep it?” she asked, pointing to the droid.
