The Vessel was passed down to Cedric Grayson following Veiere's decision to step away from The Dominion. As it was passed to him from Cedric's father, Cyril Grayson, Veiere felt it was only right that it be returned to the Son for the Dominions future service.

Unfortunately this should have been done long ago, the Chimaera has been considered the possession of Cedric Grayson for quite some time now.
