One of the things I thought would have been cool (and maybe useful as IC and OOC faction guidance) was the creation of an actual Constitution for the Galactic Republic to function in. I think it would have lent some authenticity and political space for the actual politics of the Republic to be done in.
So just for fun, I made one, just to initiate a discussion on what a Galactic Republic Constitution would look like. NOTE: THIS IS ONE I MADE UP FOR MY OWN REPUBLIC IF I WAS GOING TO START ONE ON THE SITE.
What I have so far:

REPUBLIC CONSTITUTION ACT OF THE CORE WORLDS
PART I Preliminary
1 The people of core worlds here by solemnly swear, in the name of self-determination by democratic brotherhood and united self-defence, the proclamation of the establishment of a Republic.
2 This Republic shall be an indivisible, secular, democratic and social. It shall ensure the equality of all citizens before the law, without distinction of origin, race or religion. It shall respect all beliefs.
3 It shall be organised on a decentralised basis. And above all be a beacon of democratic hope in the Galaxy. This is our solemn pledge.
PART II Executive Power
4 The Executive Government and Authority of and over the Republic is hereby declared to be vested in citizens of the Republic through the creation of a Grand Galactic Parliament made up of representatives elected to position by the people of the sovereign planet members of the Republic – they shall be styled as Galactic Parliament Members (GPMs).
5 From these GPMs will the Grand Galactic Parliament elect a Prime Minister to be the Head of State and he or she shall hold this office with the strict confidence of the Grand Galactic Parliament.
5a The Prime Minister shall have the power to invite from the GPM body members of parliament to positions within the Republic Cabinet Office which shall include a: Directorate of Economic Trade and Development, Directorate of Internal Affairs, Minister of Defense, Supreme Justices of the Galactic Court and Secretary of the Prime Minister’s Office.
5b Each of these invitations must be approved by the Grand Galactic Parliament through Position Hearings.
5c The Prime Minister shall hold this office for a period of 5 Galactic Cycles, by then a new Prime Minister shall be elected from the GPM body.
6 If at any point the Prime Minister cannot uphold the confidence of the Grand Galactic Parliament, the Parliament shall hold a Referendum of Confidence, if there is cause for a popular movement of no-vote of confidence then one shall be carried out.
6a Only an absolute majority will authorize the removal of a Prime Minister
6b When removed Parliament shall be placed under a Provisional Directorate elected from the Supreme Justices to oversee the legal transition of power to a newly elected Prime Minister
PART III Legislative Power
7 The legislative powers of the Republic shall be vested in a Grand Galactic Parliament made up of GMPs elected to position by the citizens of the sovereign world members of the Republic.
7a The Parliament shall be made of two division – one styled as the Principle Assembly and a second as the Representative’s Assembly
7b The Principle Assembly shall be presided over directly by the Prime Minister, with each member of the Principle Assembly acting as “consul” to the Prime Minister by the member worlds during times of crisis, including but, not restrained to – deliberation of declaration of war, change in major foreign policy, electoral reform, member secession referendums and member disciplinary action. They are to also act as a tie breaker vote for legislative votes in the Representative Assembly.
7b.2. Each member world of the Republic is entitled to one seat on the Principle Assembly.
7c The power to introduce, debate and ratify legislative acts shall only be the sole exclusive power of the Representative Assembly. Legislation introduce in Representative Assembly shall go through the Process of Readings. The First Reading shall introduce the legislation and provide a period of grievances and support to be debated. Second Reading shall have the revised edition of the legislation read and then voted upon. 2/3rds Majority is required for its approval.
7c.2 Each world shall elect two GMPs from their own political body and they shall sit in Representative Assembly, their terms will last 3 Galactic Cycles by which two more shall be elected. Once a politician is a GMP he must wait a period of 1 Galactic Cycle to then go up for re-election.
8 Only the Representative Assembly, with the recommendation of the Prime Minister and Principle Assembly, be authorized to declare war.
