My suggestion is this. Tell mikhail he would be the spearpoint, it would appeal to his ego to be "in charge" let him take the first wave. We will tell him the assault team is there as back up reserves, in case he can't handle the heat. That would tick him off into biting more than he can chew.
Once they are engaged we launch the assault wave. Rescue team sneaks in at the same time and uses the distraction to get our people out.
We can then say Mikhail owes us for saving his butt.
