Research Time (Siobhan)

[member="Galina Kerrigan-Alcori"] [member="Siobhan Kerrigan"]

Unlike last time, Phylis was not unconscious, and as Siobhan helped her up she spoke sleepily.
“Thank you, Sio…hope…hope….hmm.” She dozed off, eventually being helped into bed again. “Shouldn’t make this a…habit…” she said before rolling over and pulling the covers over her head. She was asleep immediately.

When she eventually awoke it was with a splitting headache. “Need to figure out how to do it over a longer time. Hmm, overstressing myself….”

Siobhan would have hugged her daughter again, but then realised that the amulet would probably give her a burn. So she just patted her on the shoulder. "Yep, I'll see you in a bit." As for Phylis, she was deposited on her bed in her room. Second time in a row that Siobhan had gotten the librarian into bed, but still no sex!

At the very least the bookworm could give Siobhan a hug. Or a kiss on the cheek. That was not asking too much. "Yep, you should. You can't keep taxing yourself," Siobhan said, not being hypocritical at all. "Want some aspirin?" she asked, filling a glass with water and then fetching a tablet from an aspirin packet.

Phylis took the pill eagerly and drunk. “Thank you, Siobhan,” she said with a smile.
“All well? Galina enjoying her new toy?” she asked.

After a few moments she rose to her feet and stretched. She noted she was still clothed, which was always a good step.

"Don't I get a kiss at least? I'm cool with it being on the cheek. Or a hug!" Siobhan asked innocently. To say no might upset her, but to do as she wished would probably inflate her ego even more. "Galina's well. The Force spooks her, but she likes her new toys."

Phylis, at heart, was not a cruel person, even if she sometimes misunderstood people’s intentions. However, she moved forward and gave Siobhan a peck on the cheek.
“Thank you, Siobhan,” she said with a smile.
The Force only knew whether this would satisfy Siobhan or whether it would persuade her she was close to breaking into the Jedi Master’s heart! This one foresees some disappointment down the road.

“Well, if you need me to show her how to use it I can.”

Finally Phylis had kissed her! Well, it was only a peck on the cheek but still. It totally counted. Give it up, Sio. She's not interested in you, the inner voice chided her. If it weren't for this weird Code and that Sithy chick using her, she totally would be. Yeah, right, but she isn't.

Apparently the fact that some women were not sexually interested in her was a bitter pill for Siobhan to swallow. Presumably the fact that she lived like a queen and surrounded herself with a harem of nubile girls whose job was to fawn over her, made it difficult to accept that. Anyhow, she gave the librarian a hug. "Thanks, I'd appreciate it. I can't exactly show her to use a light side artefact!"

By this time Galina had wandered back to her room, to once more study. After all, she loved nothing more than that. Her light reading choice, just happened to be one of Phylis' books of course! For a change the girl was reading history, which was a rare occurrence for sure. Especially when like her writer she much prefered the hard sciences and complicated mathematics to entertain her mind. History, just wasn't as interesting in her eyes.

She sigh quietly, having no idea that at that very moment Siobhan and Phylis were discussing her and plotting to teach her how to use the very amulet that had been made for her.

"Then that's what we shall do. Did you want me to teach her now or wait? I can do so now if you'd like."
Siobhan wasn't wrong about Phylis. Perhaps in another life and another reality she might have been more willing. As she was she was committed to celibacy!

Clearly the only way to get Siobhan to stop obsessing about 'her' Phylis was to visit a parallel universe or go back in time to meet one who was willing to jump into bed with her. Maybe then she'd finally stop craving her and accept that they were 'just friends'. Then again, maybe she'd still be fixated on her.

"If you're game, I'd say we can do it now. No time like the present." This would also allow Galina's writer to get something to do since if she's excluded she might unleash a flesh-eating virus!

Galina kept reading, completely unaware that her mother and Phylis would be returning to visit her. Her hand drifted up to the pendant. A finger rested against the chain as she cupped the amulet in her hand, and moved it slowly across the chain in a bit of a bored fashion as she took notes from the book she was intently studying.

And Siobhan's writer is correct. If this writer gets excluded she knows far too much about deadly chemical and biological weapons for anyone's good.

Phylis was shown the way through the building until she came to the door. She knocked politely.
“Galina, it’s Phylis. Siobhan thought you might like me to show you how to use that pendant I made?”

Galina glanced to the door, and feeling a prescence that was familiar to her, at least somewhat after meeting the lightsided master. Slowly she walked over to the door and opened it. She gave a soft smile to Phylis and motioned for her to come in. "Hi." She said, a little shyly. Then a nod followed, "I would like that, yes." Even if the Force still weirds me out ... Mum wanted this for a reason.

Phylis entered, smiling. Though she was a little awkward at times with people, she actually dealt reasonably well with children, mainly by treating them as adults. Of course, Galina was only a child in an educational sense, but the way Siobhan protectively referred to her it couldn’t be otherwise.

Gently taking the pendant in her hand, Phylis closed her eyes. The power concealed within was holding strong. This was an exciting moment for her.

“Okay, I want you to focus on the pendant, feel its presence in the Force, feel its tie to you through your blood. When that’s done I will try to gently probe your thoughts, use the pendant to resist it.”

Galina only watched as Phylis came into the room. The redhead, hadn't quite made up her mind about the Jedi Master just yet, but the woman didn't seem all that bad. After all, she made this pendant to help her.

Taking the pendant back in hand, she glanced for a moment back to the brunette. The girl cocked her head to the side at the woman's words. It was the last part she had issue with, as a frown creased into her features. That was not something she was even a slight bit comfortable with.
A soft sigh fell from her lips, this not being an idea she liked too much. Though, she suspected if she refused this, that Siobhan would more than have a few words for her. And well that she frankly wanted to avoid. After all, it wasn't like she'd exactly won the last conflict she'd gotten into with Sio.

Her discomfort, no doubt could be felt in her aura. "Okay .... I guess." Don't have a choice here really It's this or dealing with mum, and I don't want that... So let's just deal with this and get it over with. It'll not be fun for a few minutes and it will be over with .... It's not that bad. Galina told herself as she sank down into the Force. Finding the presence of the pendant in the force, wasn't hard. The amulet was a bright beacon to the young woman. It didn't take her much longer to find the threads that bound it to her, through her own blood.

Nervously she fidgeted for a moment, wringing her hands in her lap. "I think ... I think I'm ready." The girl softly whispered while maintaining her concentration.

Naturally Phylis was not interesting in hurting the girl or intruding on her, so she sat opposite and concentrated. She would start with a simple metal probe. She would try and touch Galina's mind with hers and let the other person push her out. It was quite simple.
"Concentrate, dear. Use the Force, boost your strength with the amulet. Feel my attempt to intrude and block it."

Galina nervously bit at her lip and waited for Phylis to begin. It didn't take long for the young redhead to sense the foreign presence prodding at her mind. Uncomfortable was an understatement, not to mention frightening.

Her eyes widened briefly as fear washed through her. In her panic, Galina instinctively pushed against the Master Jedi to force her out of her mind. In that moment, the amulet had been forgotten. Galina just wanted the foreign presence gone from her mind.

Phylis quickly withdrew her mind from Galina and laid a hand on the girl's arm.
"Shh...it's OK, Galina. I'm not going to hurt you. I want to prepare you for when, hmm, someone might want to hurt you. To an evil one, the minds of many are open books to be read, I want to help you close that book."
The Jedi Master rose, smiled to show she was not mad. "But I understand if you'd rather wait for another time. It can be very disconcerting, I know."

In the Darkness there is Truth
By now Sumiko had finally finished up her work. After all, even a workaholic like her needed a break once in a while and by now it had gotten a bit late. So had the animal cadavres put back in storage, switched off the lights and then left the improvised laboratory. For the next few weeks she had a clear set of priorities that needed to be sorted out.

Capture a Xioquo Priestess for interrogation - potentially infilitrate Xioquo matriarchy. Myth of their 'goddess' bears investigating.

There, no one could complain about her being a slacker who did not think things through or have goals in life. Anyhow, since it was already late she decided to go find some decent Atrisian tea. As everyone knows, it's the best tea in the Galaxy. Sumiko refused to drink stimcaf because it was an abomination. Especially that awful starcaf that Omega Pyre never ceased prattling about.

Galina bit anxiously at her lip. A sigh soon followed, seeming a bit frustrated with herself. This after all was to try and help her, to keep her safe. She gave a small nod to Phylis, "I know.... I know." Whispered softly, as she fiddled with her hands for a moment. "I just .... It's so strange, feels so odd. I don't like that feeling. It's uncomfortable, and worrying."

The redhead then shook her head, "No. I want to try again. I just got scared, and instincts took over. I just wanted to not feel that against my mind. Wanted it to go away. I got frightened. I didn't think, only reacted. But .... I think I can fix that." I hope I can... Galina thought to herself and sighed once more. "I want to try again. I don't want to wait." Not to mention I don't think mum would be all that happy with me, if she knew I only gave it one shot.

Phylis smiled and patted her on the back. "That's the spirit. It can be very unpleasant the first time you experience it. Use that desire to resist so that your power grows. Don't worry, I have your safety foremost in my mind."
With anyone else that might have sounded trite or even laughable. Phylis though looked so earnest and concerned though that it rung true.
