Approved Species Resu

Status
Not open for further replies.
Yes, happy.

While this may sound doom and gloom, be warned that there's a caveat to this in case it's discovered there's a fundamental problem with the Resu and its applications in roleplay. If that happens, they'll have to be removed. Yet, with the amount of work put in this, that's unlikely to happen, I believe.

But you never know.

I understand. Does this mean I should wait a few days to see if there are any objections to your approval, or is that not what you mean?

If there were any objections, they would have been voiced. And if there are new objections, the roleplay judge or staff member and myself will discuss about it and make the appropriate action.

So, the precedent is: once approved, you can immediately use the approved material.

This submission has been edited to fit the modern format. All material with the exception of any mention of "Infected Resu" or "Moross Crusade", has been approved. This is ready for review once again as per my own request.

@[member="Jyn Sol"], I was asked by the Species Judge that due to his current schedule that to get this checked I should ask an RPJ, as he is currently unable to do so himself.

Do you have a suggestion as to who might do that for me, or? If this could be taken care of that would be great, please and thank you :D

Extremely well constructed, and given that the technovirus was developed properly I'll allow the adjustments made there, knowing full well the effects these things can have on creatures.

Approved, nice work. I don't think I've ever seen so detailed a species submission.

To denote what edits have been made, here is a short list:

  • Image update

  • The entire submission has been reworked to further the goal of increasing readability and comprehension of the submission, to present in such a way that is most pleasing to the eye, and to simply/clarify and/or expand certain aspects of their core biology (given that previously, it was likely too complicated to understand, and in simplifying certain sections, logical expansion were desirable).

  • All mention of the Morossian Resu have been redacted, except in sections denoting history or cultural relevance towards these "Abominations"

  • History has been updated and refined to generate a more enjoyable narrative focusing solely on the species, its civilization, and its continued develop on the board. Which includes the introduction of the Morossian Resu techno-beasts (which shall become its own submission), and the most recent development of the hybridization of the technovirus with the vongspawn virus through a unique poison dubbed "The Resuspawn Toxin".

  • Intent has also been reworded, but ultimately remains the same as it always has.

I hope these edits are pleasing, given that this is the goal with this modification :)

In order to give a comparison between these edits and what was previously accepted, here is the original version prior to this most recent request for modification:

Name: Resu

Designation: Sentient (However, it is more accurately described as a Semi-communal Sentience (they share behavior and thinking patterns with siblings, but they are independently conscious and sentient of one another.)
Homeworld: Realm of the Resu
Language: Resune (Resu Communication)
Average length of adults: 4-6 meters long
Skin color: Silverish
Hair color: No hair
Breathes: Hydrogen Distilled Water

Uninfected Strengths and Weaknesses:

Biological Strengths:

  • Environmentally Adaptable

  • Psychologically exposed to violence and death from the start of their lives, thus have a greater resistance to the fear of death.

  • Monogamy and mothers eating many of their young at birth significantly checks population balance.

  • Genders that develop according to sex ratio ensures reproductive balance.

  • Optional Parthenogenesis ensures swift population bounce back should crisis emerge

  • Seem to be completely immune to the Gulag plague, which most attribute to their silicon biology.

  • High Electrical Resistance (as little as 1000 volts to a record high of 1200 volts [they can produce somewhere between 800 and 1000 volts)

  • Thrives in very hot, extremely hot area's (prefers hot regions, such as volcanoes, thermal vents, ect.) Despite their weakness to the cold though, when thoroughly prepared with necessary chemicals, they can use their heating organs to voyage on long journey's, with moderate success.

  • R-strategy reproduction.
Biological Weaknesses:

  • Lunar Resu are 3 times weaker gravitationally.

  • Requires a life support suit to survive on land.

  • Although swimming in dark arctic temperature waters for their entire lives between thermal vents, resistance to cold is poor, when they swim in these cold regions unprepared, sluggish movement is caused, as well as a decrease in electrical production, and an increased rigidity along with lower aggression.

  • Short lifespan

  • No olfactory organs at all.

  • Exposed underbelly.

  • HUGE language barrier with aliens.
Cultural Strengths

  • Warrior hearts

  • Their hunting nature contributes to their great curiousness.

  • Early space exploration, due to Shikyu's low escape velocity, allowing early colonization of neighboring moons, and the natural development of subspecies on those moons fitted to that environment.

  • During population crisis, any males present if possible are culturally allowed to switch into a temporary polygamous culture.

  • War is fought in the melee despite technological advancement, as Nationalities focus on Resu Curiosity, which studies the science's using veteran Resu for their general universal intelligence, to use as researchers. (A Resu becomes a Veteran at age 25 with 12 years of adult combat experience in the family feud, and 12 years of internal family conflict [specifically with the siblings].) This makes for an excellent Scientific community, and for whatever reason they especially excel in astrophysical science's along with the expected biological science's coming in from their experience's with healers, and poisonous substance's encountered in war.

  • Community continues parenting, giving their biological r-strategy reproduction a k-strategy parenting.

Cultural Weaknesses:

  • Easily provoked

  • Tests of strength and monogamy significantly decreases population potential by 11%, despite balancing benefits.

  • Indefinite grudges lead to family feud leading to "War" between two or more "Great families", resulting in race-wide continuous war.

Infected Strengths and Weaknesses (Additional):

"Biological" Strengths:

  • Durasteel armored body (including tusks, teeth, claws, and back spines)

  • Most come with their own generic melee weapon (usually a durasteel sword)

  • They can walk and explore the surface freely now

  • They may arc electricity through the air to cause harm to targets, and depending on the strength may even kill the target.

  • Any sharp edges they carry (including the melee weapon forged out of their flesh) is infectious with the Techno-Virus. Against Resu Flesh, it converts them accordingly. Against any other flesh, the victims are mindless upon full conversion, and can be commanded (roughly) by force sensitives or Infected Resu if they are not so badly mangled by the Resu's attack that they can not function.

"Biological" Weaknesses:

  • Hydrogen Tanks if pierced are near-instantly lethal (on back, slightly protected by back spines), additionally, a Resu will have to occasionally refill his Hydrogen tanks to remain living.

  • Electrical weapons can slow them down (from any damage unprotected cybernetics)

  • They have great difficulty reproducing sexually

  • Their infrared sight is capable of being fooled with ease (unable to distinguish the difference between totally different looking people or even aliens without something electrical to distinguish between them)

  • They are still blind to the force so far as anyone can tell

Cultural Strengths:

  • They are utter zealots to the faith of Moross, their faith in the Crusade is virtually impregnable.

  • They are no cowards, a Resu will gladly put down his life to further to crusade of the lives of many more than he/she.

Cultural Weaknesses:

  • Easily provoked

  • Tests of strength and monogamy significantly decreases population potential, especially dangerous now that their new biology has hampered their ability to reproduce

  • Indefinite grudges lead to unnecessary conflict between members of the Infected and past enemies, over mere trivial issues. The only exception thus far known is the former feuds between family empires of the Resu, who upon being infected are superseded into a grander Family Empire: The Moross Crusade.

Uninfected Distinctions: About 4 meters long, this creature is pale silver. Instead of bone teeth, they utilize their silicon biology in order to form strengthened, teeth-like structures of silicon crystal that are stronger than their calcium counterpart, along with a left over exoskeleton from when they might have been useful, forming intricate armor plates of silicon. They have gills in the place where eyes would be expected. They have fins with claws that seem to act as the opposable thumb of the fish, allowing grasping actions. These fins are quite long, on average a 2 meters in length, and are able to spread into larger fins that are at least a meter tall. This is often used to make themselves seem bigger, evident from the electrical organs on it that strike nearby animals in a less direct frenzy, that doesn't seem to harm or kill, but does often disorientate. What truly scares away the fish from largeness due to their lack of sight-as-we-know-it, these fins possess the IR organs mentioned earlier, that scare them away with a greater radiation than normal body heat.

The females are noticeably different to some extent than males, possessing temporary eggs on the underbelly that grow the offspring at the same rate, and then "explode" when they are ready; these pouches of liquid attached to the mother are later healed. When they are ready to hatch, the mother spasmodically compresses her under-muscles to crack the eggs, spilling out newborns that swim about to avoid their mother's hungry jaws. The females also tended to be slightly bigger to compensate for these twenty six egg sacks that grow beneath her belly; at 6 meters long, with much shorter, less flashy fins. As a result the fins are not strong enough alone to move her massive weight, and require the use of a second set, farther down in the place one might expect legs. Males though have larger heads and as a result larger tusks protruding from their lower jaw; they also have a spiny back, and bigger fins for the sake of fanfare to attract mates with their electrical singing, and their 'hot emotions' (heat organs). They possess no discernible "leg" fins.

These silicon Fish breath dissolved hydrogen produced by exotic plants found on their moons, and exhale oxygen as a byproduct. The oceans in which they live in are of arctic temperatures, and thus the Resu have evolved accordingly to their thermal vent ecosystems. Now the whole moon is covered in life on its ocean bottom that covers the whole moon, darkened by several miles of ice encasing the moon entirely, thus vision was never developed in the sense that humans know it. They have many obsolete as well as advanced evolutionary traits. One such obsolete trait is their silicon exoskeleton, that was left over from their divergence with crustacean-similar species, and another most peculiar result of devolution is their complete and utter lack of olfactory sense... even taste eludes them. A result of a positive evolution is their adept electrolocation, and electrical communication, along with their blubber. They have an advanced sensory organ known as the lateral line, a specifically fish sense that acts as an advanced form of tactile awareness, allowing information such as salt content, water flow, and water temperature to occur along with the ability to balance. The Resu have a slightly more adept version of this, using it as a replacement for hearing organs, feeling vibrations in the water and using the information to 'guesstimate' the approximate region of where a vibration originated.

But by far their most incredible evolutionary feat, is their ability to visualize Infrared radiation in the form of sight. This is unlike most fish creatures in the carbon universe, and is usually very rare in fish. Not for the Resu and similar species on their moon however, who have developed an adept infrared sight, due to certain conditions in the perfect environment. When it was first being evolved in the earlier ecosystems centered around thermal vents on the ocean bottom, which exhibited high amounts of IR radiation, it provided the only source of light in which to adapt to. The radiation reflected against the life above, and down onto the flesh of creatures below, beginning the road to the day that creatures like the Resu detected this mostly dissipated light without difficulty. At first the development was nothing more than an advanced lateral line sense, patches of skin that caught reflected IR radiation. Eventually though this developed into subsurface eyes that could detect near IR electromagnetic frequencies. This evolution continued until their organs became more sensitive, and eventually developed their own IR producing organs that they shot at a target in the water to bounce back, a sort of "IR-recflectolocation". They also developed chemically based heat producing organs that were used to express minimal communication as an auxiliary to the advanced electrical system they would eventually develop. These organs also helped them to cross from one thermal vent to another, first storing up on chemicals, and then exhausting them all in the journey across arctic ocean temperature zones. Eventually species similar to the Resu escaped their Thermal confinements of their ecosystem when their prey had left as well, in an evolutionary attempt to escape predators. Fish similar to the Resu needed to adapt further in order to effectively find their prey in the deep cold ocean, as they had not yet evolved to their future electrical properties. This lead to more advanced, and more efficient growth of their organ. In its mid evolution, bio-electricity was discovered, and proved less expensive than their thermal counterpart. However by this new evolution they did not rid the old and in the new, the thermal vision still possessed admirable uses in survival.

The reason and the how of this electrical evolution is relatively unknown, but it would seem that a single species developed it, and thrived greater than any other life currently on the moon, electrocuting prey left and right with none able to escape their 'sight'. Soon even the ancestors of the Resu became prey to these creatures, who would eventually become the largest serpents in all of the lunar ocean. The prey however, began evolving around this, developing a resistance first, and eventually their own sense of electricity. One of the most notable masters of this sense next to the larger, and older predators, were the Resu themselves. The Resu electrical languages are said to have been developed from the electrical shocks lovers would receive when excited in the courting process just prior to mating. In a strange sense, their electrical language can be considered a "language of love."
Average Lifespan: 40 Standard years (adulthood begins at age 12, and its life is continued on the K-strategy for parenting by moving on and learning with a community of individuals ranging from all ages and occupation. Feud Military service also seems to start the following year.
Races: Terrestrial Resu (capable of withstanding comfortably just within the Standard gravity, but still restrained to the ocean)
Diet: Carnivore
Communication: Electrical language with heat organs to express emotion.

Seeming as they have an entirely unique way of communication, there is no easy way to directly translate their language into audio. In fact, the rest of the galactic community had to come up with names for the species, and several of their moons as obviously there was no discernible way to translate their native 'words' into basic, or any other language for that matter. The nature of their language is unknown, as no one now seems capable of trying to comprehend electric Morse code, far too complicated for audio speakers, seeming as one electric frequency can be utterly indiscernible to a human trying to interpret their speech. However, with the early beginning efforts to understand these apparently sentient creatures flying about through sublight space in their solar system, a crude system has been developed that can effectively communicate their language of meaning, with which a single shocking session lasting no more than two seconds could mean a paragraph in audio. They have developed a crude two way translator. Typical speech pattern of these translators give approximations of what they are trying to say, often saying 'Truth' in place of 'Yes', and 'Lie' in place of no. They have no discernible articles and as such are unable to be translated. Here is a sample of typical speech pattern:

  • A: "So, ahh, what exactly is it I should call you?"

  • B: "Name indescribable. Translated Colloquialism 'Jaws'."

  • A: "Ah, okay 'Jaws'. Where do you come from?"

  • B: "'Jaws' origin Realm of Resu."

  • A: "And what is that like? Can you describe that to us?

  • B: "Description Truth. 121 moons circulate Realm of Resu, Confederation Empire. 'Jaws' origin Shikyu, Solid Air (water) obstructs 'beyond ice', Frozen domain, ecosystem origin Ocean floor Thermal Vents. Description adequate?"

  • A: "Uhh, I think I caught half of that."

  • B: "Alien hungers halfway? Comprehension minimal."

  • A: "Yeah, me and you both."
What this translates to is that 'B' (the Resu) was trying to say:

  • "My name can't be translated, call me 'Jaws'."

  • "I come from Realm of Resu."

  • "Yes I can describe it for you. There are 121 moons that orbit my home, all of them under the Imperial Confederation. I come from the moon Shikyu, back home the layer of ice that covers the planet blocks the sky, and as a result my home is dark and has no light. In order to survive life began near the Thermal Vents on the ocean floor. How is that description?

  • "I don't understand, you caught half a fish, are you still hungry?

Culture: They are semi-communal sentient, allowing the integration of similar thoughts to be present in all off-spring to what their parents had. This commune is expanded with each generation under the merge of families in reproduction. However this expansion is checked by the constant struggle of sibling dominance almost always leading to the fatalities of the physically weaker among those who survived birth, in which the dominant feeds on their sibling's carcasses in order to maintain strength. This is a ritual only seen in the beginning stages of Resu life, and just after a mother hatches her young. Cannibalism isn't usually practiced but there are instances in which warfare between families does lead to these acts. At any rate, there is a cultural number of off-spring that mothers are allowed to birth at once, according to the number of moons squared. They are biologically capable of giving birth to a maximum of 26 offspring at once, but psychologically the mother for reasons unknown proceeds to eat some of her young, but culturally only 11 may live. This is the first test of strength among the Resu, whichever 11 offspring that escaped their mothers jaws would live on to grow. Then the second cultural/biological test of strength occurs, the father returns from a hunt to feed his new children, but it is not a benevolent matter.

He regurgitates individual carcasses, but it is intentionally less than enough for the 11 survivors. This ritual usually calls for 5 carcasses, in which the 11 fight over. The five who best their siblings will survive to live on, hopefully into adulthood. The remaining six if they are not already dead will be ignored by both parents. If by some miracle one of these abandoned children survive and return to their parents in their teens, they will be welcomed as the most favored child, and undergo a strange bonding unfamiliar to the rest of the Galactic community. If such a child were to arise, a ritual that can only be described as a marriage takes place between the parents and the survivor. This is in no way sexual, but it binds the child and parents together permanently, and when the parents die all titles, allies, and territory then belonged to them is now to that child. This is unusual from their common culture due to the fact that inheritance is viewed as taboo, making for weak children unable to survive without their parents. In the case of two miracles, the siblings are the ones to decide who shall inherit their parent's domain as their own. This usually ends up with one of them dead, but there have been instances where the siblings share, in mutual protection and others where the domain is split between them. In the combat ritual of inheritance the dead member is ceremoniously burned in sacred thermal vents, the Resu equivalent of paying respects to the deceased.

Lastly, only a few of the five survive afterwards, succumbing to extreme punishment from their peers when an important rite-of-passage hunt is failed. The margins for failure however are less strained, a hunt can fail and the juvenile can go about living respectfully, as long as it is clear that the quarry is exceptionally difficult, and was unable to be caught before it reaches a safe area where the hunter can not reach. Another such situation, is when a certain prey is particularly defensible, and draws the hunters blood before escaping. The true and utter failures are left to rot, with no hope of restoring their honor.

When it comes to love, and courting, it is the females who ultimately decide. The males with the largest tusks, largest fins with the best song, the spiniest back, and the best heat get the mate that they swim around to court. Males choose who they court though, looking for females with the largest size, the most blubber on their underbelly's, hottest (thermally) eggs, and largest claws tend to be the ones courted. Also, exceptionally fast females who could create the most alluring mosaic of thermal heat to linger in the water, are regarded with incredible enthusiasm from the males, a trait more seducing than the physical attraction. Females often race each other in the mating preseason, and show off for the males. Similarly, the males engage in duels, and sometimes larger brawls in which they ram each other with their tusks, and "scream" at one another electrically, sending females in a frenzy, although not quite as powerfully as the males sympathy for female races. Once they have mated however, their life is bond to each other, and it is rare that they produce offspring twice, even more rare is polygamy; only practiced during times of population crisis, and if a Resu is particularly important, however these important female Resu maintain a soul mate, whom she does not mate with after the first. This male counterpart would often be the leader however, leading the Nation under the females specification, entitling him to a false sense of power.

When the offspring are born, they are without gender, but they are not hermaphrodite's, they simply grow into their gender upon entering adulthood. They 'choose' their gender depending on the male to female ration in the population, to fill certain needs. If for some reason though the populations are unbalanced, a biological change occurs in which two females can participate in Parthenogenesis and repopulate the area, allowing for 22 children to survive feeding, and then after they inherit the male part of parenting and bring them the carcasses. Only 10 to 12 offspring survive to repopulate in unbalanced populations. Also to be noted, inbreeding never occurs due to the semi-communal sentience offspring share with their siblings that allows for the impersonal fight for survival full aware of their siblings impending deaths. It never occurs because the siblings would never think of it, having the mentality that it would be like breeding with oneself, and all offspring giving family members are monogamous. All members of the race are monogamous except in times of population, or genetic crisis. However, it is to be noted that Queens and Empresses do sometimes practice polygamy. Lastly, an unrecorded event is slavery; it appears this race found no use of slaves, seeming as the entire race is one large militant force, perhaps slavery was impossible, and thus never discovered. This may be the reason for their genocidal responses to aggression, expecting the same response from other races that they are provoked by and invade.

In adulthood, all members of society are natural warriors requiring no training in warfare, as they grow up, and train through their natural process of life. Their true careers enter two specific fields, astrophysics which was discovered for their expansive purposes and curiosity of what lay 'beyond the ice' of their lunarhome, or they go into advanced biology, being able to easily identify, and often cure disease that are found in nearly fallen warriors. Before adulthood, they learn a general overview of all the science's that they know, under the tutelage of Veterans, when they are not on a battlefront. They possess excellent underwater (obviously) surgeons, and doctors, along with incredible life saving medics on the battle front (cultural alternative route than compulsory military service).

Scientist/engineers don't often mingle with the warrior 'caste' due to their being older, more mature, than the younger more aggressive counterparts. Warfare is for the young and the great, those in between or unsuccessful with mating become successful in a life of science. Despite their lack of modern weaponry, they have a vast arsenal of poisons, antidotes, and cures to various disease that they provide on a constant basis. In warfare, it is not taboo to fight a scientist as they are often experienced warriors, however, explicitly targeting scientists is consider the greatest offense to civilization, and those who do are shunned by all surrounding families and/or nationalities believing they are barbarians. At this they are then quickly overwhelmed by an invasion front from all sides, right, left, down, up and every direction in between. Scientists of this target are given the choice of assimilating into the conquering family/nationality or to be honorably killed in combat (this includes female scientist, as females were also bound by the Veteran rule and military service unanimously compulsory without statement). After the Veteran rule, becoming a scientist is not the only option anymore. With the colonization of new celestial bodies, astronauts, explorers, and now with the galactic community, early ambassadors are common careers.

Technology level: Beginning of Tier II civilization with the discovery of hyperdrive. Also to be noted, it is incredibly unsurprising that none of their technologies throughout their history possess any fire what so ever; in place of fire they have developed civilization around magma.

General behavior: They are like bees, as long as you leave them alone and to their business, they won't bother you; but as soon as you interfere you have provoked them into attack. They do not attack to leave opening for a subsequent attack or retaliation in the future, when their trust is broken they seek to place their teeth in your throat or whatever life line the provoker has that allows life to continue, and rip it out. They also work like bees too, they are very industrious as individuals most of the time. It is very rare to see a lazy Resu who still considered by the culture to be Resu. They have an insatiable curiosity, and even when in warfare commune with the Veterans of society and learn like a sponge in water.

History: They started out on the largest moon of Realm Resu, known as Shikyu. It was 7,268 kilometers in diameter with a global ocean that is frozen over by the harshness of space, seeming as it has little to no atmosphere. Its core is kept warm by Tidal heating from the compression of the entire planet when it comes close to its Gas Giant in its oval orbit. Thus the reason why it has a molten core that spews out magma to the ocean floor, of which the eventual Resu would inhabit as a base for civilization. Their modern civilization is only several thousand years old, an estimated rise at about the time during the middle of the Great Hyperspace War. War as they know it today, was constant and never ending then as they knew it as well. At this time there was only the one moon inhabited, and within there was no singular lunar Empire, only smaller Empires among smaller Kingdoms. Back then the professions fulfilled their curiosities today, with their curiosity filled by the role of Scout Explorer, and their biology interests undertaken by healers, and animal/plant researchers looking for remedies to disease. Magma was a useful tool to the Resu, especially when they learned of certain metals properties being able to hold and maintain the heat of obsidian. Soon Molten Obsidian would become the fuel of machines.

Later in history they would breach the surface of their moon, and after building pressure suits to flop about on the ice surface and observe the interesting 'lights' above, that would fascinate them incredibly until they became space faring and landed on their first Lunar colony. It would take several hundred years, perhaps more than a thousand to colonize the majority of the moon system. It would take this time plus another several hundred years to learn how to mine metallic hydrogen from their gas giant, store it, and then use it in electronics that would lead to cold fusion, but it would not lead to the to the Hyperdrive, they were thousands of years behind the galactic stage, and as such remained in a nostalgic state of planet faring, with Empires growing so big to the point where entire regions of the lunar system were under singular family control, a frighten prospect by smaller lunar colonies. Eventually though, they gained contact with an alien space faring race. I this part of their history it is unknown if they were referring to the Chiss, or other races within the Unknown regions, as they have no sense of sight, and relied entirely on what their sensors told them, only relaying the data that they were something akin to the humanoids they see today, a FULLY translated quote is as such:

"They (as in the aliens) possessed short upper fins, and strangely hard bottom fins unlike a female, being long and with length compared to their upper fins. What could only be a single wide and fat claw, touched the icy ground of our moons surface, and seemed to 'swim' across the surface in an up right position. A most peculiar dumb (unable to speak properly) species, whose voice seems trapped in their skin like a cold star (referring to electronics like their cold fusion reactors), almost as if they were giant orbs (books) that literally came alive and floated about on their own fruition. They left behind a massive vessel, of which we swam through space (in spaceships) to explore it, only to find that it is filled with water similar to the ones found surrounding some terrestrial realms (air). Our scientists researched it thoroughly, and found that the entire inside was completely unsuitable, with water (air) that could crush you three times smaller (ignorant of artificial gravity), unbreathable water if it is at all existent in what we know as water, and not a single hotter place, the whole vessel was indifferent in temperature. How could anything possibly live here?"

The actual description of the ship is inadequate, as it is still under construction to form a comprehensively complete translation. But scientist speculate it was most likely the Chiss who assisted the Resu, but the Ascendancy refuses to alleviate any evidence supporting this notion, stating:

"No race has been gifted riches by the Chiss Ascendancy, in all its history. Any and all who speculate otherwise are inaccurate portrayals of the Chiss."

But at any rate, the Resu eventually discovered to control the ship through trial and error, and any mistakes made that worsened the situation were easily reversed, thanks to their sense of electricity, they could locate the source of power and the strange energies emanating from the Hyperdrive. It would be quite some time and incredible research until they finally learned of how to pilot the ship, which influenced how they created their life suits, seeing from their mysterious benefactors the ease of how they swam upright, discovering how to walk mechanically. Soon then electrically commanded legs were found to be standard among all life suits. While on the ship research project they also learn of the art of sitting, cutting holes in every chair in which to slip their tales through so their artificial legs could fold easily in the grooves of the ship made for beings like humans to control. When discovering it sublight capabilities (which was much faster than their own systems, and thus copied these techniques) they soon began to see that the Hyperdrive was a mysterious apparatus that to them seemed to serve no function. They motioned to remove it, but upon their attempting to launched through hyperspace.

This is how the Resu were discovered, in a dismembered and mutilated frigate ship whose original design could not be identified due to the Resu "modifications", along with it being completely filled with water, and any exterior holes were covered with ice. The ship it seemed, had blasted off into hyperspace into a pre-programed destination to Corellia, where for whatever reason the Hyperdrive had given out a died. This then forced the government to meticulously study the frigate and its contents until they had a vague understanding. It would take a few decades, in which many of the original Resu who had "piloted" the frigate had already died off and produced children, possessing no hope of returning home. The same rituals that had been preformed on Shikyu were similarly preformed on the ship, and they taught the survivors everything they knew, possessing no community in which to abandon their children for them to be parented by said community. Anything they didn't cover were in the any of the book records they had brought along. The humans had implanted many devices all over the craft in order to discover their communication. The first decade they tried this in order to discover an audio language that they found simply did not exist. It would take years in that decade to discover they instead communicated through electricity, which to nearly another decade in which to interpret. Then first contact, a literal flood of information passed between the two, and so eventually the ship was escorted back to the last recorded coordinates of the vessel, were they were finally brought back home after two decades of being away.

Although the pilots of the cursed ship died away, unable to leave their home seeming as the universe was too large for them to handle, the ship was left alone to be ignored. It is said that the ship remains in the system still, confined to a secluded area of space no one would dare venture. But as for the Corellians, who discovered the language of the aliens vaguely, were able to communicate and provide refined hyperdrives that they could use. Soon the Lunar Confederacy had a Corellian ally, importing hyperdrive and custom order ships along with translators, and exporting their pressurize metallic hydrogen, an excellent super conductor that is being experimented with today in order to make a faster processing computer for ships and droids alike across the galaxy. Now the sight of an ambassador Resu is exciting to all across the galaxy, a new race with an interestingly exotic charm.

However, a civilization that has stood for centuries is driven into apocalypse at the coming of an alien threat- The Moross Crusade. It all started with a wandering Morossian ship harboring within the Founding "God" of Moross, Aesir Neth (@[member="Soliael Devin Talith"]). He from that distance had felt the disturbance of roiling life within the system that contained the Resu, and intrigued by their presence entered their system, but no sooner had they enter, had the excitable and aggressive Resu began to signal the foreign ship.

The background as to why this situation had prompted their forthcoming approach to the presence of an alien ship, was that within the past few years the Resu were using more advanced sensor technology for the Resu to scour the Universe for specific patterns. Mostly they search for any signals being sent out, that are reminiscent to the readings of the one other place they knew, Corellia. They developed algorithms and every other thing to detect anything that might be considered an alien civilization. However, what they had found then most recently, was a most unsettling discovered. There was an nearly unexplained increase in chatter between planets all around them... they were generating readings that would suggest a community of worlds. This threatened the Resu, and it created a dangerous political environment for any foreigners who were foolhardy enough to traverse their lands.. It would almost boil over like a thermal vent in the deep ocean exploding in an unpredictable eruption when the ship came.

It was a heated discussion between the Emperor and several other linguists and their apprentices, they did not know how to respond to a creature that seemed to promise some divinity towards them. It appalled the Emperor the prospect of alien religion, determining for certain it was a work of vile deceit, an art Resu are shamed for in disdain for the dishonorable deeds it implies. The response action was ultimately decided by the wisdom of a young cripple, known as Stone Hermes, a Hero and early Veteran of War due to his grievous debilitation injuries. He reasoned that the aliens trusted their eyes more than their blood, and because the Resu were born in the absence of light, then their darkness would show the aliens the enemies they would be making out of the Resu. History was made, as an Ambassador convoy was dispatch to meet with the dignitary of the Alien vessel. They held two within tanks visible to those of the Morossian sailors, and several others fitted with life suits to engage in relations with the God. When Neth asked that he demonstrate the faith of Moross to them, it was the unlikely Stone Hermes to whom a decision that would change an entire civilization over night, that would decide the ultimate fate of the Resu. He had the choice of being exiled for his lack of cooperation with the alien dignitary, and backing from his own idea in order to preserve his own life, or risk his life forfeit that would undoubtedly lead his civilization either to preservation or utter destruction.

Like many Resu would have chosen, Stone Hermes decided that becoming exiled was a worse fate than sealing the fate of his race to extinction. So then, he stepped forward, and through Neth's manipulation of the Techno-Virus Stone Hermes was reborn as the First Convert, a creature of the deep and a creature of steel. His life suit had shrunk around his body and pierced through it as it infected his bowels and very nearly all his living tissue. The Blade of Moross grew from the flesh of his own hands, to which was a new sensation to have. The head that had contained him for the poisonous atmosphere ripped itself apart and formed around the structure of his mouth, as his tusks grew and protruded from the jaw as curved pointed metal poles. His body arced with electricity as the spines of his back protruded in metal form. Silicon merged with his new steel flesh, and tanks of hydrogen merged with gills that held metal vessels of water to hydrate the inner skin of this new metal beast. Skin and bone as strong as durasteel, a voice that could kill, and a blade that would be bloodied in the name of Moross and its infectious virus.

Quickly the mind of Stone Hermes was deranged with the need to swing the blade of Moross upon the flesh of his own kind, and so quickly the others of the assembly had become in the image Neth and the Force had chosen for them. Neth was proclaimed the One True God (before they learned of others, and even after he was claimed the Truest One), and a new war was fought between the kin of Resu: The New Blades of Moross, and The Old Tusks of Resu. The waters of Resu were turned to the color of Resu blood, should that have mattered to them. But few Resu truly died, as the blades of Moross did not often slice through the water to kill his kin, but to graze him, wound him so that the bloods taste of the alchemical metal would boil it to change, metamorphosis into the image of the blade and its wielder. The more the Resu fought, the more they converted to what they had been fighting against. Not all Resu reacted to the virus uniformly however, and there were some Infected Resu who maintained their sympathy for the old ways. The fight continues, but the civilization of Resu that had been was no more, the Empire they had created in alliance had been eradicated. The small community that remains now has been left to be preserved, as the Morossian soon realized, mating had become difficult for them in his mechanical form, as well as they had formed a sympathy for their ancestors. They felt guilt towards the destruction of their own, they realized they had forgotten who they were beneath their metal skin.

The last uninfected Resu swim in confinement upon their homemoon of Shikyu, to remain there forever, and to breed more Resu for the Moross Crusade.

Notable Player-Characters: @[member="Iron Giant"]/Silver Sentinel, @[member="Stone Hermes"]

Intent: The intent of this species is for role playing. Personally I would use it as an alien, new to the galaxy, and thus, explores with the hopes and dreams of his people being just as expansive. But I could just as well see a faction forming where characters would go on a voyage of conquest. There is also the possibility of a Resu acting as a scientist to another civilization willing to coexist with them, in which they learn, and integrate into the community as established members of the scientific community galaxy wide. The Infected Resu are intended to be an Elite Unit to the Moross Crusade.
