Farr was not the only one to disappear, Connel was gone in a flash but where she was moving, he was hunting.
The Shadow was faster, stronger, and let’s face it, downright meaner. So he
looked for the beasts. They were damned from birth or mutation, and while he was an animal lover, Connel had no hesitation in hunting any of them down and taking them out. The problem with this was that with every move he made on them, his position was made. The only way around this was to continue moving towards the lake like he had said.
The beasts seemed to be interconnected, almost like a hive mind, as more and more were now chasing
him better him than her, or worse the locals that they were just working with. That was unacceptable. He knew that staying on the move was his best chance to avoid detection. The lake was his destination, a place where he could regroup and plan his next move. The beasts were relentless, but Connel was determined to outsmart them.
More and more technobeasts and Sithspawn were moving on him, but he had the advantage of seeing them coming. He didn’t let himself stop, though he had a canteen full of water, the reason was two mutated Noghri as well as a small pack (3) of mutated Nexu were chasing him.
Come on… just a little further.
He had pulled out both of his sabers and when he reached the rock he had in his sights, Connel jumped on it and then bounded backwards back at his would-be attackers. He was as ferocious as they were and cut each of them down brutally. It was disturbing to think about, let alone watch, but Vanagor had no choice. He also did not get out of this unscathed.
A Nexu tore into his neck. It was bleeding profusely, but he was able to apply pressure and control the flow of plasma.
The chrono said it had been just over 16 hours.
Activating his comm-link, he staggered and pushed himself further towards the lake.
