Rewriting Your Character into a NFU

Right, so I am not the paragon of consistency on Chaos, but I've been around a while and I can say I really enjoy this place, despite being constantly interrupted by RL issues which prevent me from long-term dedicated posting. So, consider this a semi-formal apology to those who wrote with me.

Alas, there is one thing I've noticed that does not quite work with my character - the fact that she is Force sensitive. When I first started writing Tionne, she was intended as a snide scientist, a funny meld of Dogbert and Bridget Jones, a drifter of sorts...and this FU deal was just a side-story. A side-story I slowly got tired of over the years. To be quite frank - she just does not feel like a FU to me.

The question is - what to do now? I do like her character, so full-retirement would not be something I would gladly do. How do I do this IC? I thought it would make sense something or somebody severs her from the Force, if that makes any sense.

Another thing - I really, really feel bad when I beg people for training. It feels like I am assaulting the writer behind the character. Another OOC reason why I'd want a main NFU.

Finally, I want to concentrate on lore and technology creation, which would enrich Chaos more than me RPing yet another (lousy) NFU.

This is a fun dilemma. Here's a couple of ways I've approached it:
  • Force accident, a la Callista. I had a Master char, a Force Drain specialist, accidentally consume her own Force-sensitivity and burn herself out. She was quite a bit of fun as an NFU. After a year or so, it fit her story to reverse that, so I did.
  • Extreme specialization. Jorus plays like an NFU pretty much all of the time; all he does is hyperspace/instinctive astrogation.
  • Get someone to sever you. There's more than a few characters that know the skill and could pull it off, alone or as a group.
  • Get Vongshaped in an especially nasty way, and lose all Forceness.
  • Buy a house on Myrkr.

I turned Mikhail into an NFU once through magic plot device. Running around with Vagrant Fleet was one of the more enjoyable experiences I've had here. Sadly all was lost in the Crash.

Jorus suggested a few good options, but as Sarge likes to point out, there's always, "Touch the magic stone that you're not supposed to touch."

More specifically the World Razer is in the GA's Belsavis dom. Just walk up and poke it.

What could go wrong?

I've thought about extreme specialization. Since Tionne is a scientist, it would kind of make sense for her to specialize in knowledge of Aperion.

I wanted to give her one extremely strong power, connected to the Aperion, like Force Visions. Essentially, I wanted her to experience reality in 5 dimensions, where she would effectively be able to see all possible outcomes of all possible events. In that way, she can't tell you your destiny, but she can tell you how the universe will react if you choose a certain path.

However, this is considered a superpower and I doubt it would be allowed even if I sacrifice all other Force powers and lightsaber.

Jacen Solo could do that kind of thing, courtesy of the Aing-Tii. So could Cronal, Talzin, and the Rhandites. There were always exceptions, things they couldn't see and such, but sometimes it was really cool. Like this one time, Jacen realized that he could kill a Jedi or let her go, and sensed that if he let her go, all possible futures ended in him killing Luke Skywalker, so Jacen killed her in cold blood. It's a fun way to go if you handle it responsibly.

Well, the point would be - Tionne can't see the effects of her own actions, but only the effect of the actions of others. That would scare her and she would just hide.
Apart from making RP interesting for myself, I want to make it interesting for other people as well. In this way, I'd turn her into an asset a lot of characters would want to interact with, Jedi, Sith, NFUs alike.

Well, here's one thought. Get stuck in the Chiloon Rift, where time runs much more quickly, and spend a couple of years using just that power to try and figure out how to get free. Most/all of her other powers atrophy from disuse.

Mind whammy is also good. Telepathic accident.

Basically, you are suggesting something out of movie Interstellar? Yes, that could really work. It would also explain why she is older. Neat.

Are you sure the power is not over the top? Visions are rare and usually uncontrollable.

Even the greatest masters of precog never knew every single outcome. It's a measured, balanced, unreliable kind of thing, often focused on critical moments - temporal shatterpoints - or on short-term things like fighting-sight. Not gonna lie, it'll be a challenge to write well, but I'm sure you can do it justice.

Well first cuddos for being open to changing your character! I love it when characters change. I love it.

I like what [member="Jorus Merrill"] said about mostly being an NFU that's my James Justice.

This character had a radical change from an NFU assassin to a force monk mystic. I hate bugging others for training too. I feel like a bummer. He changed through the head injury that made him flatline for a while-then he was imprisoned for his murders as an assassin but was deemed insane and released upon a legal technicality. Now he triws to atone for what he has done.
