- Assists in sorting, analyzing, repairing, and combining salvaged components.
- The galaxy's first comprehensive and systematic way to turn raw salvage into functional ship modifications.
- The original, though slightly better, is prone to breakdown. You're going to need to kick it a couple of times.
- You should really be an outlaw tech, or otherwise skilled in salvage or starship modification, or else you're liable to make something that'll quit on you mid-fight.
Imagine you've just ripped open a dead spaceship, something high-end like a FOCIE or Mandal Hype boat. You've walked out with your ship's weight in components that woulda been worth millions if they weren't half-melted and futzing sparks all over the place. Maybe you know a thing or two about modding ships, and you see some potential here. So you dump a salvage batch in a Rigger and use its tools to get a pretty decent idea of what's fixable and what ain't. Then you start fixing and splicing and eventually you wind up with a half-solder monstrosity that you can plug into your own boat. And bam - you've got a leg up. Maybe you just turned half a grav well into a big ugly etheric rudder, or took pieces of six guns and made'em into one. The sky's the limit with salvage.
The Rigger's a bit like your average old-school tech workbench - same size, weight, and general idea. If you know how to use one of those, you're well on your way.
