Everything around Briana faded into background noise as they charged forward, her mind singularly focused on the tear in reality while each swing of her blade struck with exact precision, doing what she could to not waste her physical strength on the clusters out here. One shadow creature after another barreled towards them, and one after another dissipated into mists of blackened netherwind as they tore through the monsters like a sizzling wall of force fire.

"Nearly there!" Briana called to her companions, slipping Lily Decoria Lily Decoria a quick, sidelong glance before recentering, her astute mind beginning the calculations and distance that was left between them and the rift. "On my mark, push the force into your legs for this last stretch, then leap into the tear together!"

The ground beneath her feet seemed to tremble as Briana worked to pull the Force around her body, augmenting her strength in a more concentrated effort to thin the swarm and ensure the path forward would be cleared for them.

"Now!" Briana shouted, once the gap had become obviously noticeable, pushing all of that power she'd augmented down into her feet to propel herself into the air, throwing her awareness towards the netherworld rift like a net, using that tether as a rope to finally pull through the portal and straight into the darkness that eagerly devoured her.

When Briana emerged on the other side, the ground rushing up to meet her, it took a minute to gather her bearings. There was a familiarity to this place that reminded her of the world she'd just left, but with the distinct feeling of corruption and filth oozing from its core, coating everything around it in an oily malice.

Her gaze ventured towards Lily, "You okay?" she asked, briefly glancing over her Padawan. Briana had never been in the Netherworld before, didn't know what kind of problems could or might happen in this sort of place. "I can sense Brandyn up ahead and... something else... something...big. We need to reach him before things get worse."

ELIMINATE THE STRAYS

Together,” the Queen echoed with a firm nod. Aiden’s presence was grounding and strong, inspiring even. She was grateful for his new role in the Queensguard, but her reverence of the young man started years ago, when she was a little girl.

Aiden Porte Aiden Porte was there with the relief group after the first Cataclysm ended, providing food and water to the survivors; her father had died just days before, and Aiden was there in the city market when she walked alone from what remained of the Berenko estate. Little Inara was sent off to get supplies for her shattered family. Aiden was kind and generous, like a beacon of hope in an otherwise dark and uncertain time. She never forgot that kindness, and now fate has brought Aiden back to her side.

Her thoughts were interrupted by the overhead roar of Mandalorian gunships and the rumble of armored vehicles. There was a time not long ago when Kalantha petitioned senator-turned-Chancellor Alicio Organa Alicio Organa for protection from the Enclave... now she owed the lives of her people to a Mandalorian outfit. Kalantha hoped it was a jest from the cosmos meant to remind her of humility, rather than being a cruel joke.

"We need to secure the courtyard!" the Queen shouted over the screams and blasterfire. She fired her own blaster twice at a demon in the distance, hitting it in the shoulder and drawing its attention away from one of the delegates. Another pair of blaster bolts followed, striking its chest and dropping it to the ground with a screech. "Find a way to contact the commander. We need all the help we can get." Undoubtedly, the Mandalorians could see that the courtyard was an easily defendable location. All they needed was to know what the Queen was thinking; establish a perimeter around the palace courtyard, rally citizens inside, and keep the demons out until the rift was closed.

She prayed that would be enough.

Naboo.

Where blood of her blood called home. In which they aimed to make the whole planet a sanctuary for all and not simply for those with the wealth to allow such commodities. Problem was, most with the means to purchase such amenities also had the means to make sure that comfort was a premium commodity. Lossa had been blind to it herself for the time that she had been present. Wanting to keep the family name out of the mud. Wanting to set a good example for her daughter in the time to come.

But she didn't have to worry about setting a good example when she still had yet to find her daughter.

The Chain gun roared to life, spraying a few select targets with a hail of blaster bolts until the shrieking stopped. People scurried about. Seeking cover. Shelter from the attack that had apparently come from no where. And yet was always present on Naboo somehow. Or maybe this sector of space? Something she would have to ask Briana Sal-Soren Briana Sal-Soren about if they could stand to be near each other for the time it took to ask. From behind the helmet, she watched another group scamper forward. Trying to escape a beast that rounded a section of buildings with a hunters slow march of certainty.

Her head tilted slightly as she and the beast looked at each other. Measuring the potential damage the other could dish out as the heat finally finished venting from the salvo prior.

Hands pulled at her arms. A myriad of voices begging for protection. To help them. To come with them. Noise that she pushed aside with a brush of her hand. These people needed to leave. They were getting in the way more than they were helping bring the trouble to her.

"You should move before I start shooting again." Her melodic voice hidden behind the static of her new armor. Concealed from head to toe in case she managed to run into anyone familiar enough to call her out. But unknown to the rest of the planet she had touched down on to get some of her anger out. The beast scowled, tensing at it cleared the buildings to flex and roar it's disdain at her being in it's path. Posturing to show it had the upper hand. Or maybe that was just her humanizing it a bit too much. She wasn't entirely sure where or what these things were.

But they made a worthwhile fight sometimes.

It lunged before she could get the barrel pointed at it. The windup too long as the gun was let go of. Her hands shooting upward as the Force swirled around her. Anger lacing itself between her muscles as she caught its arms and laughed in it's face at the blatant surprise at being caught.

"Not everything here is for you to munch on!" The static in her voice drawing out the final notes of the laughter in her voice as people seemed to appear and scatter around the two locked figures in the street. Calls to run, escape, to get away as the beast tried to overwhelm her with pure strength. Her grip tightening around the wrists of the strange creature until she felt it's form snap between her hands. A pained howl lancing the air as it tried to pull itself free. A sharp tug finding one broken arm freed before a kick snapped a twisted leg bent to run.

"Show me. Show me where home is. And I'll send pieces of you back."

Progress was slowing. Forward momentum had almost come to a stand still. Brandyn was too busy fighting to hold his ground to realise that from his left was approaching the creature they had been seeking. "Keeping going forward!" Brandyn yelled, but to no avail.

Beside him, he heard a cry of fear, and then the unmistakable sound of bones breaking en masse, right before the ground beneath his feet shook. Through sweat soaked hair, Brandyn looked up at the Archdemon as it reared up and bellow a hideous wail.

"Form up...take the legs!" He called out, but the fellow Shadows had already done so.

He swallowed hard, looking over the blackened form of the creature. Where did you attack something that seemed to have spikes enough to kill at every angle.

He reached out, through the Force to touch Briana's mind. Their connection had grown stronger of late, with less emotion between them, the dyad that had slowly been growing was reemerging. Attack from the rear. Go for the base of the neck. I will keep its attention.

He reached forth his free hand, grabbing a hellhound that was charging his position, and threw it at the Archdemon. The hound was torn to shreds with barely a swat. But the distraction was enough to help him get closer. He charged, again leading the Shadow Jedi about him on an assault of the legs that could so easily crush, or slice through them at any moment.

The Hidden Path's rallying cries echoed over the chaos, their desperate charge to shepherd civilians toward the Queen's palace growing more harried with every passing moment. The towering spires of the palace shimmered in the hellish glow of the Netherworld rifts, their opulence now a faint promise of sanctuary amidst the carnage.

"Fall back to the palace courtyard!" Mother Askani's voice rang out above the din, her commanding tone carrying weight even against the screams and monstrous roars. "That's our stronghold! Move—now!"

Path medics and enforcers corralled terrified civilians, waving them toward the gilded gates in the distance. Smoke and the acrid tang of blood clung to the air, and the ground beneath their boots trembled as another of the enormous creatures burst from a void, its serrated claws carving a deep gouge into a nearby building.

Askani moved swiftly through the throng, her tattered cloak billowing as she fired her blaster pistol in sharp, precise bursts. A lunging beast—a thing of twisted sinew and jagged bone—shrieked as a plasma bolt struck it between its four sunken eyes, the force of the shot staggering it. She aimed again, finishing it off with a second, clean shot that sent it crashing to the ground in a heap.

But there was no time to pause. Another demon, smaller but no less deadly, charged toward a group of civilians cowering by a toppled speeder. Without hesitation, Askani reached out with her mind. Her blue eyes flared with an inner light as she unleashed a psionic blast.

The air around her crackled as an invisible force erupted outward, striking the creature mid-leap. The demon let out an ear-splitting screech as it was hurled backward, its twisted form colliding with a stone pillar with a sickening crunch. It crumpled to the ground, twitching before going still.

"Keep moving!" she shouted, the edges of her voice tinged with exhaustion but unyielding.

Another wave of creatures spilled from a nearby alley, their forms half-shrouded in the flickering haze of the Nether. Askani braced herself, one hand raised as she projected another psionic force wave. This one radiated outward like an invisible shockwave, slamming into the creatures with bone-rattling intensity. Several were thrown violently against walls, their cries a mix of rage and pain as the sheer force crushed them or rendered them unconscious.

One of the larger beasts managed to resist the blast, its claws digging into the cobblestones for leverage. It bared its jagged fangs and lunged at Askani, faster than she could raise her blaster. Her mind reacted instinctively, lashing out with a focused psionic bolt aimed directly at its head. The creature froze mid-charge, its grotesque face contorted in a silent scream as the mental assault overwhelmed it. It crumpled to the ground, motionless.

Talar Vren rushed to her side, his blaster firing as he covered the retreating civilians. "Courtyard's gonna fill up fast!" he shouted. "We're bottlenecked on the west side—we need to hold it if we're gonna keep these things out!"

Askani nodded, her breath heavy but her resolve intact. "We'll have to clear the way. Get them inside and lock it down. Gather who you can."

Her gaze swept the battlefield, and once more, she reached out with her mind.

To the scattered Hidden Path mentalics, she sent a clear, urgent thought: Focus your power. We hold the courtyard, no matter the cost.

As if in answer, a surge of psychic energy pulsed through the square. Mentalics embedded among the retreating groups joined their strength, weaving a network of calming clarity among the civilians.

With all of the chaos swirling around the High district of the capital city, there was little time to ask questions, which drove Neeva mad. It had been a quiet morning, she was at the biggest cathedral on Naboo, a beautiful building devoted to the old ways, when actual demons began to assault the place. Spiritual warfare took on an all to real alternate meaning as horrid beasts from the other side broke through the stained glass window fixtures, soon she and the other parishioners were forced into the centers of the cathedral.

Some believed Shiraya had abandoned them, others began to pray. Perhaps something heard those hushed words, because before the demons could get to the center of the church. the front doors were cast open. and heroes clad in beskar began to shout in their native tongue. Over the cacophony of screeches and blaster bolts, rippers and screams, the shouts of the fireteam were heard. Even as bullets and bolts whizzed around her, she had faith, and that faith was rewarded by a parting of the sea of bodies in front of them.

"Everyone! Outside, quickly, before more of these monsters show up!" People ran over one another to try and get to the doors. Even those who were deafened by the firefight were headed that way, just knowing they needed to leave. She couldn't tell what the Mandalorians were saying, but Neeva knew they wanted the civilians to leave.

Like precious cargo they were escorted back to the ad-hoc firebase in the central courtyard of the palace, one of the troopers speaking to a commander and Mando'a. Apparently his name was Ruus, that was all she could glean from her poor memory of the Mandalorian tongue. She hadn't used her knowledge of that ancient language in many years. Not since meeting with an armorer of that group of space warriors.

"I am thankful for you and your men Commander Ruus, without you, I would not be alive," She bowed her head in a display of respect for the commander, speaking in a soft monotone as she did so. "I am not a warrior by trade, but I can assist you if needs be. I can help manage things that need oversight, as well as taking on Administrative duties. Any non-combat roles you may need filling, simply ask for them..."

Rook closed her eyes, swallowed hard, then stepped into what felt like a cold pool of water. For a brief second, she couldn't breathe through the sheer icyness, but just as quickly as it came upon her, the chill was gone, replaced with the nauseatingly familiar vista of jagged stone and swirling skies. Especially now, after having seen the true Theed, this mirrored world seemed perverse and malformed. Buildings intersected streets at impossible angles, chunks of rock and stone hovered motionlessly above the ground. It was all wrong.

And in the distance, she could see the horrifying harbinger of Theed's destruction.

Rook had seen Archdemons before. They were fearsome beasts with a lust for power and chaos unmatched by anything else in the Netherworld. Archdemons were often warring among themselves, throwing infinite hordes of lesser demons against each other until one finally fell, crushed beneath the weight of the onslaught. When they got bored of this, though... that's when they get truly dangerous. An Archdemon with a gluttony for the material world was an incredible threat. Rook had never, in all her years as a Riftwalker, dared to challenge one. She quite fairly lacked good cause to, but today was different, and she thanked the stars she was no longer alone.

The Jedi Shadows were here, led by Brandyn Sal-Soren Brandyn Sal-Soren who had only a few short hours ago welcomed her back to the world. She felt safe by his side, or at least as safe as one could when marching into the gates of hell to destroy an Archdemon and its horde. Hellhounds barked and snarled with unearthly reverberancies. Herding them forward were grotesque lesser demons of various castes. Rook loathed them all, but killing an unending swarm of Nether demons was not their goal. She charged alongside the Shadows, slicing through demon flesh with an obsidian blade while the rest used lightsabers.

"Look for a weak spot!" Rook shouted as they drew nearer. Everything had one, no matter how big or small the creature was.

Flashes of the past crept across his mind.

Flashes of the cataclysm.....

It didn't incite fear or worry, but drive and determination.

As the creature thrashed around angrily, several retreated behind concrete rails and pillars. The Jedi Master took a deep breath as he moved forward, his lightsaber disengaged and he clipped it to his belt.

Kahne took another deep breath as he closed his eyes for a brief moment and concentrated with the force, calling upon the collective energies around him. It would created a blanket that would wrap around the creature immobilizing it and holding it in place. The dark creature resisted at first, but was soon cemented in place.

"Concentrate your fire, now!" The Jedi Master's eyes opened and his voice carried across the battle raging around. They would bring this monstrosity down, and then deal with the rest.

The low hum of the dimly lit interrogation room echoed against the cold, sterile walls. The flicker of a single overhead light cast long, jagged shadows across the table, making the figure of the Jedi seem even more imposing. She sat upright, her posture unyielding, her deep green eyes unblinking as she observed the hulking inmate across from her. The man—if one could even call him that—was massive, his body riddled with tattoos and scars, his face an expressionless mask of violence and indifference. His presence was suffocating, like a storm waiting to break.

Her name was Jedi Master Katarine Ryiah, and she had faced far worse than this man, but even she could not deny the unsettling aura he radiated. His mind was a tangle of dark thoughts and fragmented memories, twisted by years of crime and cruelty. He had been brought here for questioning after being caught in connection with a series of highly organized attacks on several systems, and she had been assigned to extract the information needed to stop him from causing anymore bloodshed. Deep down she believed him to know the location of an escaped inmate from Black Marsh Prison, but without answers she could not continue her ongoing investigation into that case.

The room was heavy with silence, save for the sound of his breathing. She studied him carefully, her deep green eyes narrowing as she used the Force to probe the edges of his mind, searching for even a hint of vulnerability. Yet the walls he had built were formidable—too much anger, too much hatred. He was a creature of sheer force and rage, but Kat knew how to unravel that. She had done it before.

"You've been through enough torment to make most men break,"
Kat spoke softly, her voice carrying a calm assurance. "But I know you want something more than violence. Answers, perhaps. A way out." She leaned forward, her tone still even but carrying a subtle undercurrent of power. "I can give you that. But you have to help me first. Tell me what you know about the attacks. Where are the others?"

The man's lips twisted into a grim smile, a look of disdain flashing in his dark eyes. His hands, large and scarred, were cuffed to the table, but Kat could feel the tension coiling in his muscles. She knew the game he was playing—a dangerous one—but she had played it before, and she was not afraid. Not even of him. The Force would be her guide, and as long as she kept her focus, he would not escape her grasp.

Just as she felt she was beginning to break through his silence, the shrill, blaring sound of an alarm sliced through the tension, vibrating through the walls like the screech of a dying animal. Katarine's eyes snapped to the door. "Lockdown initiated" A harsh, mechanical voice echoed from the intercom. The lights flickered as the sound of steel doors slamming shut filled the air. For a moment, she felt a pang of uncertainty. The Force whispered a warning, but she couldn't yet discern the source.

The holoscreen in the corner of the interrogation room suddenly blinked on, revealing the chaos unfolding in Theed. Kat's heart sank as she saw the unthinkable—a dark, swirling rift in the sky, a tear in the fabric of reality itself. It pulsed with an unnatural light, flickering with shades of violet and black. From it, monstrous forms began to spill into the streets—hulking creatures with too many limbs, serpentine bodies, and eyes that gleamed with malevolent intelligence. The sky above Theed seemed to crack open, and the earth below began to tremble.

"The Netherworld has opened," the terrified voice of Holly Starstorm Holly Starstorm from the holonet broadcasted. "Monsters are flooding the city—civilian evacuation in process, but..."

Kat's mind raced. The dangers of the Netherworld had been rumored for centuries, but no one had expected it to breach the boundaries of their world again, especially not here, not now. Naboo was still recovering from the cataclysm only three years earlier. That very event was the reason Katarine was in this time period to begin with. She'd been a prisoner at Black Marsh and her carbonation chamber was released during the crisis. Now she was here trying to track down the rest of the inmates who had escape. The holobroadcast continued to blare and the sirens wailed. In the chaos, a different kind of danger emerged—something much closer. She could feel it, the shift in the air as the prisoners around her began to stir.

The broad prisoner laughed, the sound dry and filled with venom. "Looks like your precious city's about to burn, Jedi," he mocked, his voice suddenly more confident. "Doesn't matter how many of us you lock up—soon we'll all be free."

Kat's gaze hardened. A prison riot. Of course. As if the threat of an otherworldly invasion wasn't enough, some of the more ruthless inmates had decided now was the time to rise. She reached out with the Force, sensing the dissonant waves of rising anger, fear, and confusion. Shouts echoed from the adjacent cells as the prisoners began to rebel, using the chaos outside as a perfect cover for their own violence.

One of the guards' voices crackled over the intercom, barely audible over the growing din. "The prison's been breached! We need reinforcements!"

Katarine's mind snapped back to the present, her body coiling with instinctive readiness. She knew what had to be done. With a controlled, deliberate motion, she stood from the interrogation table, her cloak swirling behind her like the calm before a storm. "You'll get your chance to speak," she said, her voice now ice-cold. "Make no mistake, I will be back and you will talk to me."

The door to the room slid open with a hiss, and Kat's senses exploded with urgency. She could feel the disarray around her as the prison began to crumble under the weight of the riot and the terrifying truth of what was happening outside. Her mind sharpened as she reached out with the Force to steady herself, preparing to confront the chaos both within and beyond the prison's walls.

The Netherworld's creatures were spilling into Naboo, but Kat had one focus: To survive, and to stop the riot before it spiraled out of control and the city of Theed had to deal with the monsters within these walls as well as the ones roaming the streets.

"We need to secure the courtyard!"

That's lucky....

Aiden thought as he heard the sounds of gunship overhead and tanks in the distance. The Jedi Padawan's hand moved forward slightly sending a force push at two creatures bunched together. He then moved forward and began maneuvering his way through the courtyard to the center. Eliminating as many dark entities as he could.

He wasn't going to lie as he breathed a sigh of relief as troopers began to drop into the courtyard. Aiden had no idea who they were, but he was incredibly thankful for their assistance.

Hearing the queens command about making a perimeter around the courtyard. The Padawan moved to the closest mando that he could reach.

"We need to get in contact with your commander. Queen Kalantha advised securing this location and making a perimeter around this area." Aiden in truth hadn't dealt much with the Mandalorians in his life. His father would be the one that had the most experience with them out of his family. Information was being provided to their commander and Aiden hoped he would get patched through to him soon. No doubt the recommendation would have already reached his ears and he would begin the action.

Aiden moved forward and ducked as he was clawed at by a creature, narrowly avoiding the attack. He brought his blade down piercing its flesh and ending its life.

Lysander strode forward several paces, his body weary from the clash with the shadow creatures. Leaning against a marble pillar, he focused on the power of the Force, his breathing steadying and energy slowly returning. While the situation was unfamiliar, his training instinctively guided him to remain centered. The Padawan’s lightsaber remained ignited; its purple glow was reassuring more than ever now.

Soon he observed more forces arriving, struck by their strong presence. He immediately recognized them as allies. Their distinctive armor, coordinated movements, and communication were unmistakable. The once peaceful enclosure now transformed into a battlefield, and Lysander could not tear his eyes away from the sight of the creatures falling under their assault. Their ferocity was inspiring and even intimidating.

In that very moment, the true gravity of war hit him hard, making any previous skirmishes seem like mere training exercises. But as the energy continued to pulse around him, Lysander's weariness and vulnerability faded away; it was replaced by determination.

Before potentially returning to the fray, he turned back to the Jedi, seeking clarity amidst the brewing chaos. He began to focus on a bigger picture: the innocent lives at stake. "Is there any way to guarantee the safety of all civilians here?” His tone was firm, but he had to raise his voice louder than normal to be heard. The Padawan then paused, glancing towards the blaster fire that lit up the courtyard. The relentless noise assaulted his ears. "Should we regroup with the other forces nearby?"

Growing hate and anger, the orders were precise. Who was to be blamed and pay the price

Kat was no stranger to dangerous situations, but this—this was something different. The Naboo prison was a cauldron of chaos, a riot in full swing, and she was caught right in the center. The prisoners, a mix of hardened criminals and political dissidents, were rampaging through the halls, attacking guards and shattering the fragile order of the facility. Kat’s lightsaber had been taken from her as part of standard procedure when she entered, and now she was left with only her hands, her mind, and the ancient martial art of Teräs Käsi to defend herself.

With every movement, she relied on her training—each strike a fluid combination of power and grace, each block a precise deflection of an incoming attack. Her fists moved like lightning, every punch and kick calculated to disable rather than kill. A Twi'lek charged her from behind, a crude metal pipe in hand. She spun, disarming him with a swift palm strike to his wrist, then followed through with a roundhouse kick that sent him sprawling to the ground. Her eyes darted around the room, assessing the threats. She could sense the desperation and madness in the Force, the raw, unrestrained emotions of the prisoners flooding her awareness. But something else was there too—a dark ripple, an unfamiliar disturbance stemming from the Netherworld activity plaguing Theed.

In the chaos, a sharp, cold twinge gripped her mind. It was as though the Force itself had bent, warping in ways she couldn't immediately understand. There was a flicker in the air, a distortion that made her skin prickle. Her breath caught in her chest as the disturbance grew stronger, an overwhelming sensation of shadows pressing in from all directions. The very fabric of reality seemed to twist, and then, with a suddenness that stole her breath away, the disturbance intensified into a flash—a violent burst of energy that tore through her senses like a tidal wave.

Katarine’s vision blurred as shadows, dark and oppressive, enveloped her. She tried to fight against them, to anchor herself in the moment, but it was no use. They were rooted in the Netherworld, but somehow did not quit belong there. The Force signature of the shadows was as if trying to hold water in one’s hands. It belonged neither in this dimension or the next. The shadows pulled at her, consuming her thoughts, drowning out everything else. The riot, the prison, the prisoners—all faded into the background as the darkness overwhelmed her, an inescapable abyss. She could hear whispers, distant voices calling to her, though she couldn't understand the words. The Force, once a constant companion, now felt like a storm, chaotic and wild, far beyond her control.

And then, just as suddenly as it had begun, the shadows surged, and the Jedi was gone, pulled into the very middle ground between the Netherworld and Naboo.

The riot continued unabated, the prisoners fighting, the guards scrambling to regain control, but Katarine Ryiah was no longer in the Naboo prison. She had vanished, swallowed by the disturbance in the Force, leaving only an eerie silence in her wake.

Transporting through the portal was an experience that Lily could not match with anything she had felt before. It was strange, new and felt as terrifying as it did exhilarating. She admired the way her Master fought and cleaved easily through the many beasts that came her way. Lily focused to do the same, using minimal energy and echoing the precision that Briana was demonstrating.

"Understood Master," Lily nodded her head to Briana as the Knight lead their way and Lily just followed as she ensured that they were not chased from behind or caught off guard from an attack to their rear. Lily's combat mind was able to easily connect with the Force and guide the power where she needed it to be for the leap. Instincts kicking in and her years of combat training removing any time for self doubts or hesitations.

Lily was a woman of action and she needed to be active.

Leaping in time with Briana, she followed the descent onto the ground and nodded her head to her Master. "I am fine Master, dealt with worse. Not much worse, but worse." Lily's mind harkened back to the threat that Darth Carnifex Darth Carnifex had given her life with his raw power. Or the curse that Adeline Noctua Adeline Noctua had placed on her soul. Both threats that she felt were more dangerous that the chaos beings in front of them.

She had also sensed the large threat that was near Brandyn.

"Lead the way Master." Lily stated to Briana, ready to follow where her Master decided to lead her in the fight. Knowing she enjoyed being at the front lines but would be where it was best for her to be.

Through their dyad connection, she felt her brother's plan crystallize in her mind. Attack from the rear. Go for the base of the neck. The clarity of his thoughts surprised her - their bond was growing stronger even in this hellish place. Or perhaps because of it - adversity had always brought out both the best and worst in the Sal-Soren siblings.

Briana's cerulean eyes narrowed as she reached deeper into the Force, using the shatterpoint ability to let her consciousness expand beyond normal perception. If she was going for the neck, she wanted to make sure she got it right.

The demon's massive form revealed itself in interconnected strands of energy and matter as she focused her attention in the place Brandyn told her to focus. The corrupted threads of Force energy there were densely woven, but even the strongest weave had its weaknesses. There - where the base of the skull met the spine - a nexus of stress points, like hairline fractures in durasteel. The demon's own massive weight and movement created constant strain on these points.

"The neck is our target," she called to her Padawan, shifting into a Djem So stance as another wave of lesser demons approached, pushing the images of the critical junctures she'd identified into Lily's mind so they could see the same thing. "See how the weight distribution creates natural breaking points? I need to strike there - but we need to get behind it first. Help keep the path clear while Brandyn keeps it distracted. One clean hit is all I need and the whole beast will collapse."

The Force surged through her as she launched into motion, her enhanced speed carrying her through the chaos of battle. She did not need to look at Lily to know that she moved in perfect sync beside her, working in practiced tandem together as each step brought them closer to their target, circling wide around the massive creature's flank while Brandyn held its attention.

Once in position, Briana launched herself upward, her leap carrying her to the exact height of those critical points she'd identified. Time seemed to slow as she soared through the air and brought her blade down in a perfect Djem So power arc, channeling every ounce of strength she had directly through the thick skin of the creature and into those fractures. The sound that followed was like a thousand pieces of glass shattering at once. The demon's neck literally came apart at the seams, dark energy exploding outward as the threads that held it together finally snapped. The backlash of dark energy caught her mid-air, sending Briana backward, her world spinning violently as she was thrown like a ragdoll.

She caught a glimpse of Lily's worried face as she sailed past, before her back slammed hard into one of the twisted structures that dotted the hellscape. The impact drove the air from her lungs, but she managed to maintain enough presence of mind to cushion her fall with the Force as she dropped to one knee on ground.

Through blurred vision, she watched the massive demon begin to collapse, trusting her brother and her Padawan to handle whatever came next.

"Understood!" Lily called out as she switched to Vaapad, seeing the opportunity to use the pure rage emotions from the chaos beings as a chance to counter the sheer numbers of them. She twirled the Lightsaber in her hand and began to cleave into the numerous enemies. Imbuing her body with the Force to speed her movements so she could slice through faster, as well as maintain her physical stamina for when the opportunity against the arch demon that Briana aimed for them both to handle.

Her Master leapt into action without Lily's assistance and Lily cursed. She had planned to help Briana deal with arch demon but her master was leaping into action and already handling things more than well enough.

Seeing Briana launched back, Lily let out a cry, "Master!" However, before she could react, Briana was already ensuring a safe landing. Using the Force, she blasted one of the demons that attempted to attack Briana while she stunned. Grunting deeply, Lily pulled out her second Lightsaber and began to twirl the two Lightsabers in quick succession. A blur of the two colours as Lily pushed forward, trying to draw the attention to herself so that the enemy left Briana alone long enough for her to recover.

Slamming into the ground, the Force worked in waves to throw several demons off balance.

As if Ruus Kote Ruus Kote had heard her prayers himself, the Mandalorian forces coalesced with the Royal Security Forces to clear the remaining creatures from the courtyard. With their help, it seemed that the tide had turned against the demons. Throughout Theed, reports of successful defenses and skirmishes were flooding secure channels.

<“Send any survivors to the palace,”> the Queen ordered over all channels. <“The palace is secure.”> She squinted at a Padawan in the distance, then nudged Aiden Porte Aiden Porte to draw her protector’s attention.

He’s one of ours,” she half-said, half-asked as she studied Lysander von Ascania Lysander von Ascania from afar. Kalantha had noticed him before, several times in fact. He fought bravely alongside the Security Forces and Mandalorians to secure the palace yard for her people. Whether he was a native Nabooian or not, his actions were commendable.

She looked to Aiden with a sad smile once the last of the demons had been routed by the joint Mandalorian-Nabooian task force. “I can’t help but think that this was a coordinated attack,” she said freely, not worried about the implications. As the Queen spoke, she walked with Aiden toward the Padawan. “To wait all these years only to invade Theed on the Republic’s Commemoration Day? It was certainly no accident.

Of all the settled worlds in the Southern Systems, Naboo was the most surprising on Elias' list of "never been there before" destinations. He'd seen nearby Seswenna, Eriadu, even Sluis Van, but somehow the idillic planet of Naboo had evaded his travels. He was glad that his first time here was doubling as time spent with his good friend Efret Farr Efret Farr , even if the day was backdropped by NJO Council business. Unofficially speaking, the pair had spent the last several weeks establishing points of contact with the various Force orders of the Mid- and Outer Rim Territories. After seeing so many sects represented on the Dawn Chaser, Elias couldn't let the NJO move into fallen League territory without first building relations with the local Force users.

The Wardens of the Sky, Jedi Pilgrims, Judges, even the Jensaarai - they would all make steadfast allies, if the cards were played right. Elias felt that he and Efret were the best suited for the task.

"I can't believe I've never been here before," Elias said with a soft chuckle, still mesmerized by the beauty of Theed. "If it wasn't for the Order of Shiraya, I don't think I'd be here now. Not to say that I'm not enjoying my time so far," he added quickly. He coughed nervously. "You know what I mean." Hopefully. Elias was a simple man by definition, much more content with sleeping under a tree on Dagobah or swimming in the limstone caverns on Bogano than walking royal streets outside of Theed Palace... but he could find joy in the finer things like this.

Especially with Efret here to share the experience. His left hand absentmindedly slid into his pocket where he kept a small parcel for her. It was a gift, one he'd traveled all the way to Cathar with Jonyna Si Jonyna Si and Valery Noble Valery Noble to obtain - albeit unexpectedly, and under false pretenses. He'd been waiting for a long time to give it to her, and here, by the calming waters of Theed's river, he hoped to finally do so.

At the apex of a beautiful stone bridge, Elias slowed his steps and turned to lean over the carved stone railing. Below, he could see his and Efret's reflection in the water. Their smiles shined back at him like a pair of radiant suns. "I'm glad we decided to stick together for this," Elias said. "Meeting these sects, learning about all the ways the Force is interpreted... it's been very eye-opening." His hand once again slipped into his pocket. He fumbled with the parcel nervously, sure but unsure of what to do next.

"I have something for you," he said after swallowing hard and pushing down his nerves. Just as he grasped the gift with determination, a sudden chill rain down his spine. The sky shifted from its cerulean hue to a menacing purple unlike anything he'd seen before. Clouds swirled angrily as if the entire atmosphere were suddenly loathsome of those beneath it. And then, a massive crack of lightning caused an unworldly tear in the sky itself to rip open.

Elias' jaw was clenched. He'd read reports from the Cataclysm that swallowed up the Confederacy half a lifetime ago. He looked to Efret with steely eyes. "Let's go," he said, then set off toward the palace.

Unlike Elias, Efret had been to Naboo before, but that seemed like a lifetime ago. As a new Jedi Archeologist, she had taken a job for a curator in Spinnaker to sculpt a new headdress for an Elder bust. There had been multiple reasons that the situation had been problematic, not all of which were Efret's fault, but she should have known better for all of them regardless of exactly where her ethical responsibilities laid.

She should never have accepted the request. It hadn't been her place to copy the style of a sacred Gungan artifact to make the Naboo museum more credits, just as it hadn't been the place of the museum to remove the statue in the first place. She should have been negotiating its return to the sacred swamp, not facilitating the appropriation of religious idolatry. But if fixing the statute had been the best course of action, she should have insisted on the commission of a Gungan artist to do it. Even though their culture hadn't made the statues, they had been adopted into the Gungan religion.

Ever since, she had sworn not to contribute to cultural appropriation.

Ever since, until now.

She sighed under the weight of it, of half of her duty. She didn't know it she wanted to carry it anymore. Fortunately, Elias picked up their conversation and the flow carried her mind far away from the consideration of right versus wrong, of archeologist or anthropologist versus Jedi.

"You know what I mean."

"I do," she affirmed with a knowing smile, a joke on her fingertips. "You forget part of my job is interpretation." Of artifacts, of texts, of history. She was very good at it at this point and liked to think that exercising a creative understanding for the dead to fill in the gaps between pieces of evidence they had left behind was a skill that lent itself just as well to the land of the living.

"Meeting these sects, learning about all the ways the Force is interpreted... it's been very eye-opening."

"Right?" She certainly thought so, and was glad that he had now experienced a part of her job beside desert fossil collection. "I wish our Order... Never mind. You know what I was going to say." It was her turn to assume a degree of knowledge from him, but she felt comfortable doing so. They had relatively recently discussed what she had almost rehashed at Field Camp Nu.

She came to lean on the stone railing the proper, polite distance away from Elias so as to give him his personal space. This all was more than a little romantic, causing her heat to flutter like the rouge tree blossom petal in the cool, gentle breeze, but she wrote it off as just that: the environment. What woman was immune to the royal charm of Theed? There couldn't be many, so perhaps it wasn't unfair for Efret to hope beyond hope that a man she had accidently jilted would give her a second chance.

Trying to clear her mind of that thought process, she rose a hand to where Nirrah sat perched on her shoulder. The convor leaned forward to nibble on one of her fingers before allowing herself to be pet.

When Efret saw Elias' lips move in the water's reflection, she turned to regard him for the rest of his statement. His declaration that he had something for her gripped her heart, imparting nervous excitement that soon turned to dread as the sky above them metamorphosed. What was happening? The possibility of a magnetic storm came to mind momentarily until realization of the absurdity of an aurora borealis that complete and this far from the nearest pole stuck it from the realm of possibility.

"I'll follow you," she replied before racing off with him. As they went, she instructed Nirrah telepathically not to fly lest the very air pull her away like a riptide.

It all happened far too quickly. He had not time to check on those approaching from the other side, his sister included. The Archdeacon bellowed in agony as it received gashes and slashes all over its form.

A Shadow to Brandyn's left was speared through the chest with one of the creatures legs, despite the leg having been cut off at what looked like a knee. Brandyn was not distracted by it though. He could mourn later. Instead, he lifted his blade upwards and sliced at the Archdeacon's gut.

The creature wailed. And it slumped. Brandyn cut upward in a circle as it fell on top of him.

The other Shadows had moved back. The circled the Archdemon which lay dead, tongue hanging out and to the left. They looked to one another briefly, believing Brandyn to have been crushed to death.

And then the jaw fell open.

A rather gooey Brandyn crawled out of the creatures mouth in the most unceremonious manner ever, butt first. The tongue acted as a helpful slide as he skipped on his rear a few feet over the unpleasantly coarse ground of the Netherworld.

"Well. I had imagined that to be a whole lot more heroic looking..."

He’s one of ours,
He was nudged by the Queen and that brought his attention from scanning the courtyard back to her. There were more individuals that he didn't know that were stepping up and protecting home. He was so happy to see that they were not alone in this fight. The Padawan followed the Queen vigilantly at her side as he listened to her words.

I can’t help but think that this was a coordinated attack,

"I agree with you, your majesty." Aiden spoke as he thought about today's events. While it was supposed to a memorable day, it was quickly turned to fear and chaos.

Whatever it was, he would do all within his power to ensure the queens protection and Naboo's.

"You are a welcome sight, friend." The Padawan said as they neared Lysander von Ascania Lysander von Ascania "This is Queen Kalantha, my name is Aiden Porte. I thank you for your support."
