Athena seemingly blinked at Tasia for a moment, a bit caught off guard by the statement that she made. She didn't expect for her to be desired to be spoken to or that her people attracted interest from a woman who grew up around Gungans. Especially considering the history between the Ophissans and Gungan people. Athena then looked to the other women who approached them, as she introduced herself as Jedi Archivist Echo Athoth. The snakes in Athena's hair seemingly hissed at Echo, a defensive measure for sure. Echo was an avian humanoid. Birds tended to be a natural predator of snakes. The Gorgon Queen simply reached up to caress the snakes in her hair, before giving one of them a small kiss on the head. She spoke to them softly in her native tongue, calming their fears, so they can try to relax.

"A pleasssssure to meet you Jedi Echo. I've only heard storiessss about Jedi. Renowned warriorsssss. You being a curator of a mussseum issss not ssssomething I would expect. I'm glad to make your acquaintance. The Queen of the Naboo musst have a great faith in your skilssss."

It was a compliment, albeit perhaps Athena could have worded it better. She turned back to Tasia to respond to her. "I felt it wasssss time to try and introduce myssself to various Naboo officialssss. For I have some plansss that need disssscussing." Athena gave a smile "I do not know how to..dance. It isss ssssomething I am unfamiliar with."

Phylis had been carefully considering a monument, aware there was someone approaching, but when they spoke she started slightly.

"Ah, hmm, yes. Padawan Angellus!" she said with a nod.

There was something slightly weird about this scene. She remembered meeting Michael at an adventure to Palpatine's great fortress…but for some reason she couldn't quite remember the outcome. An odd feeling she'd had before, enough so that she'd started idly researching 'chrono-slippage'.

Regardless, she smiled and gestured him forward. "Hmm, good to see you again, what brings you here? Take a look at this!" she ordered.

A holo record of an entire clan which had perished in the original great war on the planet.

"Notice the, hmm, form and patterns of these messages. Name, age, clan, date of death, holographic shots of the head."

She led him further along to a much newer section.

"From just four years ago, same exact form and patterns. Hmmph, they are copying what's gone before. What does that tell you?" she asked in the voice of a teacher educating a chosen student.

Any further discussion and investigation was cut short when a person appeared. As they spoke, the Jedi Master's brow furrowed.

"Hmm, greetings, I am Jedi Master Phylis Alince…but I'm guessing you should know that, yes? Hmmph, you have experience with Alkahest, do you? From whom did you learn it, not from me…I would remember."

It was a skill she had taught to precious few, and though she sold some of her products, the actual skills of Light Alchemy – the name Alkahest she had coined – were much rarer. She knew of almost no one still active today who would have experience. The conclusions were…interesting.

The Jedi glanced around. The Hall was in relatively good shape, but the damage to some of the older sections from the ancient near desolation of the Halls was notable.

"Hmm, I can't say I have. On the other hand, I have not, hmm, ventured far into here. Do you have more details about this?"

She regarded the woman before her carefully, reaching out with the Force to try and learn more….

"My journey to Alkahest...came about in a different way..." Magdalena answered. "There are others who pursued... independent efforts to reach similar answers..."

That was all she would say on the matter in regards to that. Magdalena would definitely feel like a light sider, but due to her Nature as a Force Spawn, a master like Phylis Alince Phylis Alince might still feel something decisively odd, how Magdalena's very cells churned and rippled with the Force. She might sense the schizophrenia inherent to all of Magdalena's kind.

She might have even sensed traces of the other personalities in Magdalena...

"The object I seek is known as a 'Death Mask'. It's a...sort of Holocron...but very special. Created with crystalized blood or Synthetic Lightsaber Crystal material. Enough to fit over a face. It's extremely dangerous. Such masks contain the personality of the...creature that made them. It will look like a Woman's face..." Magdalena explained carefully and honestly. "If it's worn...it has infectious potential if the creature that made it was of the Dark Side. Even if it was made by a light sider, it's still very dangerous. I'm ok with letting you decide what to do, but it cannot stay here if it IS here. People could get...hurt. and I don't want that..." she finished speaking, the many minds in her body wandering back to thoughts of her injured son. The guilt she felt for not being there all those times he needed her. And now she was here, hunting relics with a stranger.

But the innocent have to be protected...

"I came across old reports of strange force relics being here, hidden. In some of the oldest, people described finding a mask that whispered in multiple voices at close range...since I have experience in this particular area, I came here immediately. But I need someone willing to help..."

Okay, so Master Alince is a little quirky, but I think that is what is cool about her. She’s not afraid to point out what she thinks is cool, and make it out in a way that I can take in. I’ll admit, I didn’t think it would be this interesting, but the way she is explaining these makes me want to read more into and about them. I get that, that’s really cool.

She caught me off guard when she asked me about what the patterns taught me, but I wanted to give her an answer. I want to say “the more things change, the more they stay the same”, but I don’t think that is exactly right. I do think that the recordings of these, and those styles show that they are big on tradition. It also tells me that it is important to pay attention to history itself. Can always learn from it.

A little long winded, but true. I gave a pretty decent answer, I think.

Okay, who is this new lady? A “Force Healer”? So, she’s a “Healer”? Okay, cool. Ma’am. Okay good, I remembered to bow again.

“Alkahest”? Can’t say I know of it. I didn’t want to outright say I’m willing to help, though I was, I mean I didn’t know who this woman was! She could have been a “Nexu”! I mean I’m only 16, but don’t “Nexu”’s like’em younger? I’m not judging. I’m just not ready for that sort of thing yet. I like’em my own age anyway.

So I’ll just shrug in a manner that makes it look to Master Alince like I am willing if she is.

Burying the Hatchet

"The galaxy would have me sitting at a desk, signing papers and watching the Republic spin out of control through the palace windows." She frowned, clearly revolted by the notion that leaders belong in ivory towers. "Not me. I fought demons in Theed, commanded our forces on Enarc, and put trackers on NEO ships during the raid... it's almost comical they think that a gala here is a security risk." The frown curled into another smirk. For all that Kalantha was wise, she was also mischievous and cunning.

Her eyes cut to the boisterous Gungan and she couldn't help but giggle. "There's your lack of pageantry, Senator Gnut," the Queen teased. "I assure you that there are many opportunities here on Melida/Daan. A world that's done nothing but wage war is like clay to be molded. They have so much to look forward to, and much of that will require our help. Umgul no doubt has plans to expand its casinos to worlds like this, that are in need of pastimes to keep them from devolving to civil war once more, no?"

The "art" of gambling (as Gnut would undoubtedly call it) was, perhaps, less regal than what the Queen should be discussing, let alone supporting... but it wasn't illegal in Republic space, and validating the tenets of member worlds was a practice that the Assembly took quite seriously. Umgul's society found gambling so important that its local laws were entwined with it.

"Thank you. And its a pleasure to be here, it's good to see everything going in the right direction."

"I hope so, if everyone can find common caused to help and aide one another things should be looking pretty good." Aiden showed a small smiled, and he truly did hope that was the case. Aiden has pushed to the side his thoughts and opinions of the latest events transpiring with the the Republic. Choosing to put faith with the Queen and with Briana, he was sure that they would lead them in the right direction.

"Medical Cruiser Healing Hand; oh you meant. Sorry. I'm with the Foundation, I'm based on Ryloth, mostly, I get around a bit."
"Asara Ta'kona, pleasure"

Aiden giggled lightly as he nodded his head, after shaking her hand. "You as well, Asara. and I'm with the Republic, based on Naboo. How are things faring on Ryloth?" The Padawan inquired, as he glanced over to the droid that went over to help the crew with the refueling hoses.

"Do either of you intend to dance tonight? I've not done a lot of ballroom dances, but I'm eager to try."

Dance? What a... strange notion. Not one that Echo had even considered. She was here for means of diplomatic networking. Suddenly the gala had become far more complex.

"I... am not likely too," Echo noted. "I don't know if it's an activity I'm predisposed to enjoying. Perhaps I may, if only to better understand it on a cultural level." Her gaze shifted to Queen Athena. "I'm certain there are many here who would be eager to teach you how, your majesty."

It probably just wasn't for her. The Ogemite was a scholar above everything else. Refined, collected, studious. Attending events such as this for pure enjoyment wasn't exactly her style. To that end she certainly had a lot of growing to do, not that she would ever acknowledge this out loud. Echo would keep all of that to herself, behind her quiet and composed facade.

Though... something in her had become increasingly curious...

"Exactly right, Michael. Hmm, galactic history is filled with these cycles, stretching back millennia. Sith and Jedi, light and dark, democracy and autocracy vie for power. One side never quite defeats the idea because, hmm, such things are a balance. There is another planet I have studied extensively which has this same cycle of…"

She had paused from her no doubt fascinating lecture about the remote world of Tephrike, but the newcomer changed all that.

Phylis was, all things considered, a very reasonable, kind and generous individual who mainly wanted people to be treated in the manner they deserved. However, she had a deep suspicion about this individual before her.

This was compounded by the very odd feeling from the Force aura of this person as well. The Light was there, certainly…but oddly.

"Hmmph, well then it's not Alkahest," she said with uncharacteristic sharpness. "I am curious what methods you have used for this, hmm, alternative."

Awkward for Michael no doubt, seeing the Jedi and the odd woman facing off.

"You seem to know a lot about this item, Magdalena, hmmph, maybe you might explain how it came to be in the ruins of this otherwise unremarkable world, and why now it is of such importance? You are not, I think, a Jedi, hmm. So, to whom will you deliver this dangerous item, to the Council? I will assist with this, but not if you wish to, hmm, acquire it yourself."

The Jedi Master was still talking in a friendly enough way, but her gaze was set on this strange individual, watching for any dangerous signs.

"We'll just have to differ on what is considered Alkahest. My practices, if you will, were descended from studies that involved purely light side variations of an Ability used by certain ancient Je'daii Rangers known as Alchemy of Flesh, combined with studies of Ancient Force Imbuement techniques practiced by Jedi Knights. This was later added to by the studies of various Light Side using Witches..." Magdalena answered truthfully, having nothing to really hide in this instance. If Phylis Alince Phylis Alince thought the strange creature before her intended to be evasive, she was about to have her expectations subverted. There was no point in lying anyway. Lives were at stake, and the longer they were here, the closer they potentially inched to something unpleasant. Even if it wasn't exactly what the Jedi would formally consider Alkahest by her definition, it was still the closest term anyone had ever gotten to describing just what it was Magdalena practiced. It involved the Light Side and combined magic to create strange effects in objects, and especially themselves...

"I never said I was a Jedi, either. I said I was a Healer...and as to how I know so much about this subject it's because I have witnessed such masks being created...and have made one or two myself in the past..." Magdalena confessed. "I don't care if you or the council take the mask if it's found. Honestly I'd advise you to destroy it, even if it wasn't made with the Dark Side. But the thing is, they're extremely rare, even for Force Relics. I don't always know about them or where they may have been placed. But you must appreciate the danger. I cannot stress it enough. If it's made using the Dark Side, the...data inside will try to influence whoever finds the wretched thing into either making a body for the persona in the mask, or worse, if the person who finds it meets certain biological prerequisites it will try to convert them whole cloth into a host body. Even if it's made with the Light Side, it will have a sort of defense for the unwary...it'll render them comatose for about a day, and the subject often experiences significant memory loss that can last for weeks after. Please, I'm not trying to con you. I am here to save lives. Only the strongest of minds could hope to resist mental infection if the mask is Dark in nature."

Magdalena, slowly, carefully unclipped her lightsaber hilt and handed it to the Master Jedi.

"Here. If I'm lying, I'll be at a disadvantage later to you." she replied calmly but firmly, mind wandering back to her son. All the minds in her were completely agitated by recent events. Nathan had lost an arm saving another Jedi from a lightsaber thrown by a Sith Lich buried under a temple floor. All while she had been hundreds of miles away on the same planet. Part of her could feel the burning pain of a lost limb...

"I may not be a Jedi, but my dedication to helping others is as serious and sincere as yours no doubt is. I ask only for a chance to prove it by saving lives here..."

Her personas in her subconscious continued to churn silently behind her eyes....

She was however, hopeful given that Michael Angellus Michael Angellus was at least open to assisting her...

Objective One
Interacting with: Kalantha Kalantha Gach Gnut Gach Gnut | Nearby Boggo Flib Boggo Flib

Sibylla had been watching Senator Gnut's approach with the same regard she had of the Gungan. She had to be careful, not only with her words but with her methods of interacting. Different cultures viewed approaches differently, and what one could consider agreeable could be in fact an insult.

Either way, the Ugnaught senator wasn't exactly subtle. Between his grumbling and the way his beady eyes scanned the grand hall with open disapproval, it was clear he had little patience for the elaborate setting. None the less, Queen Kalantha managed to steer the conversation into something far more strategic than small talk.

Gambling.

A way to channel a restless population into something other than conflict.

Clever. Risky. But clever. Although certainly not something a noble from Naboo would want to consider as a proper passtime. Then again, perhaps being Queen meant that one had to have an open mind on what could be utilized to ease communication and networking amid this transition.

Sibylla could already hear the Assembly debates in her head -- the hand-wringing over whether introducing such 'entertainments' to Melid and Daan would be a stabilizing force or just another way to exploit a recovering world. Either way, it wasn't something she could let slip by without weighing in.

She took a small step forward, just enough to signal that she was entering the conversation.

"The Queen makes a compelling argument, Senator," she said, keeping her voice measured. "Melida and Daan are rebuilding, and its people will need structure, purpose...something to focus on that isn't war. And like any world in transition, what fills that space now will shape its future. The real question is..." she tilted her head slightly, the decorations of her headress gently jingling against her cheeks, meeting Gnut's gaze, supporting the Queen's point by adding a bit of her own, "who's guiding that future? And to what end?"

There. An opening.

Sibylla held her stance, waiting, watching. She might only be a Junior Representative, but that didn't mean she couldn't do her best to play the game.

Okay, this was confusing. I mean, I’ll admit, this woman who walked up on us is a bit… you know… random… but I mean, isn’t that the nature of this place as a whole? Either way, I’m just a dumb kid… NO I DO NOT MEAN THAT LITERALLY! IT’S A METAPHOR! HEY! Why are you reading my journal again! I shouldn’t have to explain to you! Oh great, I’m arguing with my journal. I need to get the new model with the “delete” option. Okay, start over.

I’m a kid. I have nowhere near the experience, not saying either of them are “old”, that these two ladies have. I don’t even know how to, what does M Master Kahne Porte call it? “Sense”? Yeah, I think that is it. Anyway, I don’t think I can sense what they are thinking.

Master Alince seemed to be a bit suspicious about Magdu… Magdo… the blonde lady when she walked up. The thing is, I don’t know what to think. I mean, yeah, she was a bit “direct”, but was that wrong? Maybe she just doesn't know how things work around here. I think we should give her a chance before jumping to conclusions. See! I can learn to do that!

I’m just going to continue to defer to Master Alince.

Senator Gnut snorted a sharp, dismissive sound that his protocol droid C3-P8 swiftly polished into something more diplomatic.

"The Senator acknowledges the Queen's observations and agrees that a world recovering from war must find avenues for stability. However," the droid translated, as Gnut's small, calloused fingers drummed against the strap of his satchel as he glanced over to the Gungan Boggo Flib Boggo Flib , "he would remind Her Majesty that entertainment is more than mere pastime it is an economic force, a stabilizer, and, if wisely cultivated, a means to guide a population toward productivity rather than further destruction."

His beady eyes flicked toward Sibylla Abrantes Sibylla Abrantes , the young representative's poised challenge drawing a low grunt from his throat. Clever girl. Theatrics aside, she understood the stakes. Who guides the future? And to what end? Now, that was the true debate.

"Senator Gnut acknowledges Junior Representative Abrantes' insight and proposes a practical answer: the Republic, of course," C3-P8 continued while receiving detailed instructions from the Ugnaught who wanted to make sure there was no question of his commitment to the ideals of the Royal Naboo Republic as Umgul was rather defenseless without their support. "Who better to shape this world's newfound stability than those who have invested in its survival? Structure is necessary, yes, but structure without incentive is mere restriction. The people of Melida and Daan must be given the tools to thrive commerce, industry, and yes, controlled recreation."

Gnut adjusted the folds of his robe, tilting his head toward Queen Kalantha Kalantha now as an idea came to mind. "Umgul stands ready to assist in shaping this future, and as such we propose that Melida and Daan adopt the Outer Rim Duggot as their official currency to better partake in the galaxy's economy." It was a bold gamble from his own perspective but the droid did make a compelling argument that he himself would be unable to make.

The Duggot represented a new currency, which significantly enhanced the prospects for both Melida and Daan to achieve independence from external financial systems.

I like her!’ Kalantha thought to herself as Sibylla Abrantes Sibylla Abrantes weighed in. Though she may be a Junior Representative, Sibylla was quite sharp. Senator Sarn was doing an amazing job of instilling his protégé with lessons of the trade, but Kalantha suspected that the young woman had a natural gift that was bolstered by Eharl’s influence rather than created by it. A spark that was always there, now fanned by a skilled senator.

The Queen quite liked Senator Gach Gnut Gach Gnut as well, despite his initial gruffness.

Kalantha shared Gnut’a belief that the Republic was a presence worth bringing to Melida/Daan. Stability, peace, prosperity, even recreation – all of these things belonged to the people, and the Royal Republic was more than capable of ensuring the joys of those traits were afforded to all.

To the senator’s following point, the young Queen nodded with brows furrowed in thought. “The Duggot is a far more powerful currency than local ones. And by nature, it’s easily exchangeable with Republic Credits and can continue circulating should the system seceded from the Assembly.

A final nod, then a smile.

Yes, this is a very good proposal, Senator,” she said. “I’d like to discuss it more.

Kalantha cast a friendly glance at Sibylla. This would be an excellent opportunity for the Junior Representative to showcase her abilities by spearheading an economic reform alongside Senator Gnut with a bill, if she were interested and both Sarn and Gnut were agreeable.

Phylis just stared at the woman, peering at her closely. For a long moment after she had finished talking, the Jedi just frowned. Then she looked down at the proffered lightsabre.

"Hmmph," was all she said for a long moment. Then, she gently pushed the lightsabre hilt back to Magdalena. "I…hmm…think this is something you need to handle," she said carefully.

With a continued puzzled look, she nodded respectfully. "May the Force be with you." With that she turned to Michael and said, "Padawan, if you wish to aid her, I will not stop you, though I urge caution."

With that the Jedi Master headed back towards her inspection of the halls. What she made of the whole scene was difficult to tell beyond evident bewilderment.

Oh man?! Come on! I didn’t want to make anyone mad. I mean, I couldn’t really go that far, Rojuhr was tracking me. Yeah, he put a locator beacon in my pocket when he thought I wasn’t looking. I would be mad, but I’ve known him all my life, and he’s always been like a “second dad”. I have to respect that. So he’s gonna come following if I go with this woman.

Look, I’m sorry, you seem like a nice lady, but I told those I’m with that I would be here when they are ready. I don’t want to make them worry, you know? I haven’t been doing this long and I don’t know a lot. So I think I am going to stay with Master Alince. I’m really sorry.

Showing up for a gala at the end of a planet's war era wasn't something that entirely pleased Niki.

The last time she had been at an event such as this one the place had been raided and had put her off from attending a similar event for some time. An event after that featuring a premier member of the Sith though thankfully without anything more than his presence as the largest disturbance of that affair. The most recent outing had been a pleasing one, and the catalyst for further testing of the general disposition of the galaxy at large through more controlled environments.

At least more direct tests.

It wasn't like she was going stir crazy with the waiting time for receptions with the Queen of Naboo had grown to astronomical lengths with the planet's own slew of events. An understandable shift. More than reasonable. But that meant she was paying a higher fee for getting her vipers. It wasn't because she wanted to finally get some form of audience with the woman. Niki needed to stretch her legs. Even being polite enough to refrain from her vipers at the cost of her enhanced senses. Something she would have rather enjoyed in the moment given how those gathered seemed to be posturing and seeking out their fortunes in different ventures.

Cutting through the crowd slowly as she kept herself paced and free from distractions of potential business ventures. Finally laying eyes on the one she would have liked to catch alone.

Squinting a little to figure out who exactly the woman was speaking with before realizing the collective gaze was being pointed to someone out of sight from where she was standing. Barely a measure of subtlety to her approach as she finally drew close enough to see who the group were speaking to. Thankfully in far better control of her mouth than others, the knee-jerk assessment of the being they were speaking to didn't come out of her mouth or really across her face.

The gambling planet reprentative.

A pastime that Niki herself no longer understood the appeal of with all the luck she had run through. Her eyes glancing between the three present with a curious look as the Queen directed the last few words to the young woman beside her. The duggat in the Ugnaught's hand all the reference she needed to understand what the topic of the minute was.

"Attempting to standardize a currency that relies on open market values rather than a defined and stable item in a system undergoing economic and social reform seems imprudent." Arms crossing as she examined the Ugnaught with more interest. Perhaps a social faux pas to join a conversation uninvited, but social embarrassment was something that she had long put behind her.

"Though, the ability to transfer the liquid value to local currency is a slight offset for such a risk oriented form of currency. One would be able to make money from such a trade if they followed market trends correctly and in a timely fashion. Though, I would hazard a guess that the Duggat could be abused even more thoroughly by those keenly aware of market trends on particular items to potentially bankrupt systems that have lesser insights. Is there a safeguard present against such events happening?" She had examined the newest available commodity to the Outer Rim with interest upon its announcement. Her own paranoia was already picking apart the possibilities of such a currency as she examined the systems currently being welcomed into the Royal Naboo Republic's influence.

Phillip watched the growing crowds of officials mingling amongst themselves whilst he sat to the side, stick of charcoal in one hand and his sketch book in the other. With the Gala in full swing, he believed he'd be able to get inspiration from the expressions flickering around him. Those of Hope for a better future, Relief to finally have peace. Those were expressions that would be difficult to emulate if you've never seen them for yourself. Which is why even if it was a place Phillip wouldn't want to be caught dead in, he found himself in the Congress Building, sketching through the book to catch various faces around him. Scribbling down various notes to suggest possible explanations for the expressions. His eyes darted around beneath his glasses, as he clapped his sketchbook closed to take a few moments of relaxation.

The members of the Young were so...impressive in his eyes. Young people who had fought through hardship and pain to get to this point. People who had come from nothing, becoming strong rebels, willing to fight for themselves. It was admirable. Phillip wished he could be like them. Instead he was...what even was he? He didn't quite feel like a Jedi. He hadn't done anything heroic really. He had done training, but did he even do well in that? He had tried educating himself on the Galaxy but it was hard work...Urgh. The idea of calling reading hard work compared to what the Young had done disgusted him. Fighting for your beliefs was what was truly hard. But he wasn't sure what his beliefs were. Did he even have any? He had joined the Order to get away from his family. Find a different way to get a reputation for himself...but was he even succeeding at that?

He ran his hand down his face in frustration, letting out a long sigh...before blinking to himself. Phillip checked his hand for a moment, groaning to himself as he realised he had just wiped his charcoal covered hand down his face. Great. His face was going to be a mess. Now he had to find the restroom to try and scrub the stuff off his face. Sliding his sketchbook back into his jacket, and making sure to straighten his jacket with his clean hand whilst loosening up his tie.

"...Alright. Time to sort out my face."

The other woman also seemed reluctant to dance so perhaps that was a non-starter for tonight, it wasn't a problem, but the offer was out there.

She thought for a moment. "Do you have any pig projects coming up? Any visits to archivable locations?" she would love to get out there and explore her homeworld and her eagerness showed.
