Run to Falleen (Smuggling Op/Open)

Location: Shadowport
Objective: Smuggle weapons into the Falleen system through ACA territory.

-------------------------------------------------------

Vassara ran the preflight checks on her vessel, tapping her finger through the myriad of holographic controls. Screens flashed and flickered up and down and to the sides as she worked powering up her engines. The L19 Gypsy Caravan was a smaller vessel, not capable of making industrial sized loads.

Still it had served her and her companion Silas well as they had gone through the galaxy picking up whatever jobs they could find. This one was admittedly more risky however, as patrols were sure to try and intercept.

"You got all the cargo locked down?" Vassara queried back to Silas, whom was sitting with his feet up in the lounged behind her.

"Yea it's all stored, we have it the hidden compartments. Got all the grain shipment on top of it too, they'll never know what hit em."

"Awesome."

"You got a fake manifest right? Can't clear customs without it."

Vassara paused to dig a small piece of paper from her notebook and flashed it at Silas.

"Got it in hardcopy right here,l just in case the drives fail!"

"Sweet."

She turned back to her controls flicking the last switches as the engine whirred slowly to life. Power readings looked good.....

One hour Earlier
Laura had jumped into some random ship when the authorities came looking for her, but now she was locked in the hold of the ship and couldn't get out. She still had some of her breakfast left so she decided that she should eat it before she tried to leave. She went into a seated area in an out of the way room and decided to take a snack break in their. She ate her breakfast, but after it she got extremely tired for no reason so she decided to take a nap. She decided that it would be safest to take a nap in this ship, hopefully the owner wouldn't return until she was done.

Laura looked around the entire ship, laying out the map of it in her mind and then she headed back into the bedroom and began to strip off her over clothes and armour. After taking off most of her clothes she laid them in a pile near the entrance and lay down on the bed. Whoever's bed it was it was rather soft, so Laura had no problem falling asleep in the bed.

Location: Shadowport.

The Gypsy Caravan lifted up, her landing gear grinding into the recessed points on the hull with a thud. Vassara squinted through the haze of the hangar bay lights and dust. Night had fallen and it was time two be underway. Her deft hands guided the controls through their motions, easing the half circle like freighter right out of the bay.

The engines whirred as their fires intensified and they pushed off, blazing a path into the stars.

"Calculating hyperlane trajectory now." She muttered to herself, knowing Silas probably couldn't hear her.

"Really?"

Vassara jumped, glancing left to see the muscular man's black bearded face beam at her.

"Brought you some caf, here."

Vassara accepted the cup and punched the autopilot. Leaning back in the seat.

"So the plan I came up with was to travel subspace till we get to the Hydian way. At that point we'll make the jump and start closing in our planet."

"You got an endgame plan?" Silas asked gruffly.

"No not yet. I'm going to get some sleep though, can you watch the controls for a bit?"

"Sure thing, I'll beep you if anything comes up."

"Thanks Silas."

She grabbed her shotgun from beside her and headed to her quarters....

Laura had woken up after a long, nice nap and she got up out of her bed. She got up and raised her arms in the air as she stretched out her figure. She rubbed her eyes as she was still significantly drowsy, then she went over to her pile of clothes and grabbed her goggles, leaving the rest of her armour on the floor. She opened the door to the quarters and her eyes opened up wide as she saw another woman staring her in the eyes, but she didn't remember having company last night, then she started remembering.

Vassara shock gave way to sudden reaction. Her survival instinct kicked in and after several years in the Deep Space she knew that people who were on her ship were usually here for a reason. What that reason was she intended to find out. Her gloved hands swung the shotgun up and she shouldered it, pumping once to lock a shell into the breech.

CHK CHK

"You got ten seconds to tell me who you are and why you are here!"

Fire flashed in her eyes, her finger inching towards the trigger.

Laura quickly raised her hands to shoulder height in a heartbeat. "Easy Love, put the gun down." Laura was panicking a bit, she had just woken up and was still gaining some of her consciousness. Her goggles were still hanging from her fingers, but she was completely unarmed, her guns were lying in a pile with the rest of her clothes.

Vassara snorted, her finger now resting on the trigger. This was her ship and this intruder was very startling. She felt a small sense of fear prickle her nerves but forced it back, speaking sternly to the goggle holding woman.

"I won't lower this weapon till you answer my question!"

X30 had taken a job he knew would be a pain in the butt exept he doesnt have one... he was in his ship getting his wepons ready he hoped these guys liked frigates cause this one had alot of wepons."Why do I choose to do this?" the droid asked but it then looked at the reward on a hologram "Oh yeah.." he spoke and then he started the ship up.The frigate was mostly filled with work droids though X30 treated them fairly well.He began to drive the ship heading to the location of this deal.He knew that there were probably others working on this job but he wanted the reward the most...

Laura lowered her hands and tried to look as cool as she could with just her underclothes on, which wasn't very. "Who me, I'm... Caroline,, Haught. I was sent her by your boss to, umm, assist you with anything you needed." Laura smiled weakly as she hoped the woman would believe her story, she thought that she sounded rather convincing and clever. She smiled cockily as she put on her goggles and rested her hands on her hips.

This was an oddity to her. Normally Jorrus never sent anyone with her. Who was this woman and why was she really here. Anyhow, Vassara could see her weapons on the ground near the rest of her gear and stepped forwards, kicking the pile to the side, and holding the shotgun a little closer to the wayfarers belly.

"You'll have to do much better than that. My boss is reclusive and sends no one without my express permission. How did you get on board?"

[member="Vassara Raxis"]

Laura was beginning to get a bit nervous and it was obviously visible on her face, she was blushing a little and her face contorted into a source of half-baked lies. "I got in through the door, you... ummmmm, left it open and I shut it for you." Laura gave an uncomfortable chuckle as she made a half-move towards her gear. Maybe she could get this girl to lighten up somehow, which seemed very unlikely, and then make a swift movement for her gear to even up the playing field. Laura had been coming up with so many excuses that her words started to become jumbled and she slightly confused herself, seeming ever less truthful.

Vassara blinked, not realising how lax she had been at the Shadowport. Of course it was obvious she had left the door open. she felt safe there and let her guard down. It was a bad mistake. when her eyes caught the girls looking towards her gear she stepped in closer, pressing the shotgun against the girls torso.

"One last question, are you a Sith assassin or a Republic spy?"

She had ill relations with the both of them. It was entirely feasible this girl was an operative sent to kill her or derail her mission. As a seedier type though she had always been good at reading faces and body language, predicting trouble before it even started. If the girl was truthful, she'd lower the weapon, if not, trouble was her new name.

Laura threw her hands up again as soon as the girl stuck the shotgun on her torso, then she began to become a bit flustered. "Who me oh I'm neither of those, just a normal ship jumper, don't mind me." She backed away from her gear because obviously the woman had noticed what she was trying to do and she tried to give a disarming smile as she backed away from her pile.

Vassara lowered her weapon keeping it at the low ready. The girl was an awkward being. She didn't possess the vigor to be an assassin or the goddy two shoes attitude of the Republic. She had to make a quick mental calculation here. This girl was a bit of burden on the mission. One more mouth to feed from their diminishing reserves and another set of quarters to make from their small space.

Unless she decided to be of some help and proved of some worth.

"Tell you what Caroline. I'm tempted to shoot you out of the airlock. However I don't have the time for that and seeing as how you stole a free ride, you owe me. What are your skills girl?"

[member="Vassara Raxis"]

Laura breathed a sigh of relief and became less tense as the girl lowered her weapon, but she still didn't make a move for her weapons. Then the woman asked Laura if she had any useful skills, so she went into an overacted thinking pose. "Hmmm, let me think here. I can shot real good, and I can pilot a ship. I can also do other stuff that I can't think of at th' moment."

As the ship moved the droid leaned back on its chair and activated long range scanners and as the droid moved the scanners detected a Freighter "Hmm...a Freighter...of course..." the droid decided to get wepons prepped before he contacted them because they may be hostile he then contacted them "Who are you and why are you here?" the droid awaited a responce

Just then Silas' voice cut across the comms, crackling in her ear.

"Vassara we just a transmission from a nearby vessel. Sounds pretty hostile and awful nosy too."

"Ok be there in a sec."

Vassara dropped her shotgun down low and scooped up the girls belongings, handing them to her. She was still not to trusting of the woman. She had to prove herself in battle first or in some other way. Only then would Vassara truly accept her.

"Come on we have some snotty intruder to sort out."

She made her way towards the cockpit and settled into the seat next to Silas, replaying the message and then working the holographic controls with lightning fingers.

"Arm the Laser cannons Silas, let's see what this guy wants."

She pushed a shortwave scan out, getting a fix on his location and with her free hand turned the Yoke, bringing them head on with the other vessel. Her fingers danced across the sea of blue redirecting their shields to full frontal as they faced down the newcomer. Today was beginning to become full of surprises.

"This is Vassara Rexis, captain of the Gypsy Caravan. What we are doing and why we here is none of your business. I could ask you the same question. This is a free port, so unless you are the law, stand down and leave us be."

The droid spoke "Umm..yes we are...merchants" he was lying of course but maybe he could lie a way out of this "We are delivering to...um..." the droid looked at the hologram and said "Were delivering to the Falleen system...and we wanna simply see if your...erm....other merchants!" there were loud clanging noises in the backround as the droids did their work "Our ship name is the...um Birder..." the droid hoped the other captain bought the X30 didnt have the time to start the money the droid had his frigate get into a little closer

Laura smiled to the woman as she gave her back her clothes and gear, she put on her over shirt and then put her guns in the holsters. She could probably hijack the ship as the woman had her back turned, but she should probably wait until they had eliminated the threat. She followed the woman towards the cockpit and she called her snotty, "I'm not snotty?" She seemed a bit sad as she followed the other woman towards the cockpit. There was another person in there who she greeted. "Hello, luv."

"If you're delivering to the Falleen system than we are on the same job I presume?"

No one was to be trusted. A lifetime of disappointment and terrible tragedies in the void had taught the girl the meaning of en guarde. Her guard was always up and even as the new girl tried to laugh and say hi to Silas she was watching her every move, keeping a close tab on her gun hand.

Years of piloting gave her an instant split focus and she whirled the chair around, picking her shotgun up and pointing it at Laura with one hand whilst the other remained engaged in her sea of holocontrols.

"No speaking on the bridge right now, Captains busy stowaway."

"You think we should try and break for it?"

"No wait let's see if he'll help us."

Vassara whirled back again to the girl.

"Guess what you just got a new job, I'm gonna try and get this guy closer so we can board. You're the boarding party, sneak into his ship and find out what he's up too. Spare space suits are in the arms locker, left side of the cargo bay."

She whirled back around, flying her freighter ever closer, lining her airlock up with the droids.

"And make sure you bring some explosives, I don’t think he's just going to let you in."

"Hey can we have your name and your affiliation. If you're one of us, you'll have an access code, and we need to hear it and meet you. I'm moving closer to you now, so we can get better reception."

That was a lie, shortwave comms in space were always good for reception within a fairly large distance too.
