"Nobody cares for the woods anymore."
where have i been for this thread...

Ay yo [member="Rusty"], what are the chances that I could - somehow - create an organic, high velocity projectile launcher? Like an RPG (rhubarb plant gun). How would one go about making such a weapon? i need tips.

Well, there are two components to an RPG: the launcher, and the projectile.

For the launcher to be effective, it must A: be able to launch the projectile, B: protect the user from the forces generated in launching the projectile, and C: allow the projectile to be aimed. This is generally accomplished with a long, sturdy tube that directs the rocket blast safely behind the shooter. Slap some sights on it and you have aim. Whether or not a cellulose-based structure could stand up to those stresses is something I've not studied in depth, but I know people have made cannon from wood before. Not particularly high pressure or powerful, but if crafting plants into weapons is your thing, it shouldn't be too hard.

As far as the projectile goes, that should be easy. An explosion is defined as a rapid expansion of gasses. A pressure vessel to contain the explosives will augment the blast's power, and can also create shrapnel. A rocket can propel the projectile. Make it aerodynamic and slap some fins on that queen for stability and BAM. You've got an RPG.

Making lightsaber resistant weaponry is tricky. There are two ways to go about it.

Firstly, I can use normal materials to derive an extremely limited resistance. You might be able to take a few glancing blows, but it's not gonna stand up to sustained combat.

Or you can do the work to get a restricted material such as phrik or cortosis. I can make some badass stuff with that, but you have to do the legwork to get the materials.

Also, I can do a prosthetic, but it's gonna have to have some sort of weapon built in so it can fall under my business model. How do you feel about shotguns?

In that case, you're going to want a dual purpose High Explosive Anti Tank round (HEAT). Basically, you've got a big ass bomb with a shaped charge on the front for punching through armor and a hard metallic casing that'll throw out shrapnel for punching through people.

How big of a radius is the explosion? Because I was thinking that the explosion would just take out anything in the general area.. Or is the shrapnel meant to go really far

Edit:
Also what kind of a dent would this thing put in armour materials? Like from your general purpose durasteel and duraplast to phrik or beskar uber armours?

Long story short, it's rarely the actual explosion that kills people. You get a pressure wave that's good for a certain distance, but it doesn't take long to attenuate in atmosphere. It takes a lot of boom to make that an effective killer at a distance. Far and away, the easiest way to kill a person is to punch holes in them. Fun fact: there's no fireball when a grenade explodes. The sound is a physical thing that feels like a punch to the chest, but all you see is a puff of black smoke and dust. Unless of course you've got a target standing in the kill radius, in which case you see it get ripped to shreds.

A big enough shaped charge will cut through most any nonrestricted material. If you're talking about something like a tank, we can easily make warheads for a man portable launcher that'll cut through maybe not the frontal armor, but weak spots.
