Strengths:
[+] On the Go: The Scatha-class Imperial Runabout is the best in state of the art auxiliary craft, when you need to be out in the field for brief periods at a time or if you’re going to be out on a diplomatic mission. The small, maneuverable vessel is best suited to scientific, diplomatic and cultural research missions.
Weaknesses:
[-] Peace: This vessel is not built to see combat or withstand even so much as a dog fight, she has enough guns to buy herself time to hyperspace out of the way.
[-] One Shot Wonder: Scatha can easily be shot down, she has little in the way of armor, and even with her redundant shielding it is not enough to withstand a full on assault. The Scatha is reliant on her speed and maneuverability to escape and run away from danger.
Description: The Scatha-class runabout was created to answer a need to have a smaller more scientific auxiliary craft in which smaller teams of scientists, engineers or other members of the First Order Navy (or one of its divisions such as Exploration Command, All-Surface Guard, et all) could have something that fit their needs. Not everyone needs such a large craft as is the Lambda shuttle, as such the First Order Corps of Imperial Engineers along with intellectual partner Primo Victorian Shipwright worked to create a versatile craft.
This runabout can be preloaded with proper stations and storage depending on the mission it should embark and for how long this mission can be. The vessel can be fitted to survive on its own for at most three months, with a skeleton crew - at full capacity perhaps a month and a half at best. Scatha is lightly armed and heavy on defensive measures given the intergalactic tensions and impending war with the Galactic Alliance - the Scatha is built to be able to withstand a small beating before making a hyperspace jump for safety.
Intent: To create a runabout for the First Order Navy to use for tactical missions, intel missions, planetary missions, intact experiments and/or cargo modules, and emergency response transportation for science expeditions or of medical personnel.
